I was convinced it would be the other way around, Halkett would be away and Alexander staying, and with Neil leaving last night I thought we'd be losing both of them. So I am absolutely delighted Halkett has signed up for another season, amazing work by Martindale getting this done after Hoppy announcing he was offski. Byrne signing too has been fantastic, that's us got our core group of outfield players all signed up again. Gallagher, Halkett, Lithgow, Byrne, Pittman, ya dancer. cheers

Only thing that could top this is Hardie on loan from Sevco for at least half the season.

Excellent news

Personally I would have preferred it to be a two year deal but I think its a very shrewed piece of business by Craig and his agent. After a season in the top flight his value will be as a proven premiership professional rather than a very good championship player.

Funny how a bit of good news can completely change your mood.

Was starting to dread the season but getting Halkett tied up has me excited again, a half decent 'keeper and couple of strikers and we're well on our way.

Speak for yourself, I was pretty confident we could stay up. If Halkett stays and we get a decent striker then we'll be back on track, Alexander is a disappointment though, he was such a rock in goals and his confidence spread to our defence.

Pleased Cadden has signed up, reckon he's got potential to improve and do well for us, had a horrendous start with his shoulder injury flaring up again, but had a good end to the season and I think he will shine in the Premiership with a full pre season under his belt.

Bursting to see Jack Hamilton playing for the first team, really looking like the next big player that's come from our youth team, could be as prolific a scorer as Griffiths.

With Halkett as captain I'm feeling a lot more comfortable about Kelly.

Actually I'm thinking our defence and midfield is a match for about 75% of the teams in the premiership. However, as Napoleon reputedly said "the best form of defence is attack".

Best news of the summer. A couple of good strikers in and we're in with a shout, like.

Yeah, I was in a much better mood at work when I saw the news. Like D I’d have preferred him on a 2 year deal but getting him to stay & apparently turning down more lucrative offers to do so is great news. IMO it makes sense for him as he will, injury & suspension permitting, most likely play every match, whereas moving to a bigger club would probably have seen him as a squad player rather than a first choice.

A proven goal scorer now has to be the priority, Hardie would do nicely but a loan deal might need to wait until the season starts; so it may be prudent to look elsewhere just now.

Yep cant disagree with all the comments given thus far.For me Martindale must take great credit for these deals being pushed through so a very well done to him .Ofcourse his work isnt finished yet as has been pointed out,we really do need to add fire power up front and cover for Liam Kelly is going to be paramount in my book.Nevertheless its good to see most of the squad from last season back with us and i for one cant wait for the new season to begin regardless of where we find ourselves at the end of it.The players have earned it as have we the supporters and it will be great to hear of the anticipated rise in season tickets sales which will hopefully get even greater with the announcement of our new manager in place.Cmon Livi make it happen!!!

I think you overestimate the likes of Hamilton, St Mirren and Dundee, with a decent striker and some back up players here and there I would fancy us to get above those 3, and maybe pull off another surprise and go further.

The power of positive thinking. You’ve consistently talked the team up over the last 2 seasons & although you have been proven right, last season exceeded even your wildest dreams. It’s hard not to buy into you effervescent eternal optimism.

I do tend to agree that we will give those sides a run for their money but as things stand I think we will just come up short. That said, this team keep proving me wrong, so here’s hoping they do it again.

I notice from the photo with the Council, that Gary Maley is with the squad - wonder if he's staying afterall.

Presumably the council were honouring the promotion winning squad... or at least those who were available.

Got my season ticket today. Also had to write down the car number for the parking ticket on a post it note. The number written above was for one Jai Quitongo.

Quitongo playing off Miller would be interesting, would certainly give us a very quick counter attack, which is something we are going to need when we are set up a bit more defensively in some games. I loved the way we played just before Hughes took charge, Barr and Jacobs breaking up the pitch with 3 passes and a goal. Long ball up to Miller and Quitongo getting onto the knock down would be equally effective.

Apparently we're in for Goodwillie, that would definitely help the club's image.

Bright side of the news is that it's the Daily Record, so probably isn't true.

And now Callum Carson saying that the club have told him there is "no way" Goodwillie will sign for Livi. Rollercoaster of a half hour.

The Scotsman got their jollies writing up a story listing our players/assistant manager's past discretions on the back of this made up story on Goodwillie signing for us, way to go 'journalist' Stephen Halliday. Rolling Eyes

I think you mean indiscretions.

I actually like that we give guys a second or even third chance. That said, I think DG is unlikely to recapture his best form.

I'm astounded - not least by the fact that the Official Site hasn't crashed yet.

Good bit of business by all concerned; the Rangers in particular get to see if Ryan can make the step up at little risk to themselves; also this will undoubtedly increase his value substantially.

From our side we get a proven route-one goalscorer who works well with the team.

Wondered what you all were talking about, just in and had a look on the website and couldn't see anything. They did that with another of our signings, then stuck it up again later.
