Hope we go out and play to win this game and not sit back shitting it, Hibs aint no great shakes and they easily stuck 3 past them, and should've had a penalty too, so we just need to get stuck in about them and at least create some chances.

From what I've seen they lump balls up to Boyd which should be easily dealt with, and fire as many high balls into the box as they can, we need to just clear our lines and not try anything fancy (Sives, O'Brien).

    Hopefully Mohsni will be playing.

    2-1 Livi. FG 27 mins.

After watching the Hearts match think I will go for 3 - 1 in Rangers favour first goal 35 minutes but I'd be over the moon if we won. If Talbot is out I'd like to see Rutherford in and Hippo and Mullen brought on in 2nd half in place of McKenna and Robertson. Worry is our defending of corners and free kicks so hoping Mensing might be available. Must be time for the team to get their shooting boots on and try shooting rather than trying to pick their way through sometimes and keep ball on the deck more.. Hopefully they put in a good performance and not give Rangers too much respect.

The compliance officer is offering Boyd and Mohsni both 2 match bans for their violent conduct against Hibs, they have until Thurs to appeal it.

The officials did a great job not spotting their elbows and head butt, along with McCulloch dragging the ball out of play with his arm in the penalty box in full view of everyone not suffering from poor eyesight.

Tbh I'd rather they both played against us, Boyd gets high balls hit to him which is no use to him at all (has he even scored yet? ) and Mohsni is a bomb scare.

What made that even worse was the ref giving a corner. Surely a goal kick or penalty?!

Not feeling too confident, have a feeling we'll let The Rangers play rather than having a go. 3-1 Sevco, FG 13 mins.

Encouraged by the performance; a bit more clinical in front of goal & we may have got something but by the same token if they had taken their chances they could have won more comfortably. On the whole I thought we were the better side & deserved more than we got. Spectacular goal won it & there were a lot of people claiming it was offside; I actually thought he timed his run perfectly although by the time he executed the overhead kick he was in so much space it wouldn't have surprised me to see offside given. Can't believe Clark didn't get booked for persistent fouling & they continually won free kicks for falling over while they had to commit assault on our players to get anything.

Keaghan was my MotM, Kyle also did well as did White. Everyone put in a decent shift though. Radio Scotland claimed the better team won but made no mention of our makeshift defence, which IMO coped with most of the threat comfortably. Yes they did create a few chances but they weren't good enough to take them.

Not sure who was counting the crowd either. If that was the stadium just over half full then the north stand must be bigger than it looks!

From where I was sitting, it looked like the boy was offside when the ball was played at their goal.

When we played the passing game, The Rangers weren't coping with it. I though Keaghan was outstanding and was impressed with Rutherford at left wing back.

We were a bit shellshocked when Sives went off, but Kyle played really well in his place.

The Rangers fans were a disgrace. Fans fighting with the Stewards and police during the game, I also saw them on the Rampage outside the Centre being pursued by the L&B Bacon.

This is something that the Gutless SPFL should be looking at and taking action against The Rangers. It has no place in Football and will discourage people from bringing their kids to games.

I thought, coming from where we have been in the last few games, we were outstanding to a man. I thought we looked really good playing 3-5-2 to begin with, and Sives going off knocked our confidence a bit. I really hope he's OK.

I thought the Jacobs were outstanding, Mullen was as confident I've seen him, and Rutherford looked excellent.

Post by EdinburghLivi Sat Oct 04, 2014 9:20 pm

Very happy with the performance today after last week's pish. Rangers deserved to win on the basis that they should have scored a lot more, denied by some fucking dreadful finishing (how bad has Boyd got after a wonderful season with Killie last year?) but we gave a good account of ourselves and to be honest, should have scored as well.

I am certain their goal was at least 2-3 yards offside, sitting in C2 and my dad thought the same. SkySports missed it but I am 95% certain it was offside. That said, good finish and if they hadn't have scored that one, they may have been more clinical with their other chances.

Great performances from a lot. Talbot and Kyle at centre-half were bloody brilliant and a lot better than the shower that are Sives (hope he's okay, mind) and Fordyce. Rutherford was very good and extremely confident which makes it a disgrace he didn't get subbed on last week when Talbot went off. He simply has to keep playing. Keaghan and McKenna were outstanding. Really, really good. That said, McKenna's crossing is absolutely rank. White played well, as did Jamieson and was on hand, when required. Wallace had Fordyce on toast at right-back, it was embarrassing to watch at times. Unfortunately, I really don't think he's cut out for this level, particularly this year. Glen's sitter in the first half was shockingly bad. I said I thought he'd get goals at this level but he simply doesn't have it. Doesn't make him a bad player but when you're struggling for goals, you can't carry dead weight in the striking department.

Overall, a lot of good signs and if we keep that intensity up in games, we will beat the poorer sides. We just desperately need our defence back.

Much better performance all round this week and unlucky not to get something. Thought we had two good chances in the first 10 mins when The rangers hadn't even had a sniff at our goal, and then they score an over head kick from nowhere to go 1 up. We threw bodies in front of shots and slid in with great timing in tackles, great commitment today and no disgrace losing.

Only complaint is Mullen still looks out his depth, lacks the quickness in thinking out moves, twice in the space of a minute he got the ball and didn't see our player had continued his run for a flick on, and instead trapped the ball then passed back the way, really frustrated the shit out of me how slow he is to see a move. Also gets caught on the ball with the same thing, no awareness of what's going on around him to instinctively know a pass is on and takes time to look about getting caught on the ball.

That moan aside he does a hell of a job chasing the ball down and getting on the ball in attack too (bit of composure in front of goal needed but it can come with a bit of experience). I'd love him to sharpen his awareness up as he'd be a much better player spotting moves when they're on.

First time I've seen Rutherford & while he acquitted himself well enough & timed his tackles pretty well, he seemed to lack pace. Took up some good positions in the 2nd half & kept asking for the ball but most of the time he didn't get it.

McKenna also did well but I agree that he needs to work on his final ball.

If the goal was onside then I feel vindicated in not joining in with the throng complaining that it was offside; I genuinely thought the lad timed his run perfectly, wasn't expecting the high quality finish though.

He'd prob miss it if he got the same ball another 10 times, just our luck he hit it perfectly. Dirty wee shite though, should've been booked a long time before he was, same with their No8 Black, how he didn't get booked is unreal.

Post by LiviCub Sun Oct 05, 2014 9:32 pm

The performance was night and day compared to last Sunday. I think we have no fear when it comes to playing these teams at home but as soon as they're facing a crowd of more than a couple of men and their dugs, they're like rabbits in headlights and can't cope with the 'big crowd' atmosphere. Rangers had plenty of opportunities to kill the game off but clearly Gary Glen has been giving them some extra shooting lessons (that boy couldn't even finish on a porn star, that's how bad his finishing is).

Couldn't see if the goal was offside as I sit over by A3 but I have two complaints over the goal: Keaghan should've got the ball out a lot quicker or at least hit it up the line to give us a couple of seconds to re-organise. Because he was unsure what to do, it led to giving Rangers a quick throw in for Macleod to score. The second point is that Macleod should've been picked up at the back post, had he been picked up he would've had no space or time to perfect his overhead kick. But I'll give credit where it's due in that it was a well taken goal.

McGlynn had us shaped like Hibs when they played them on Monday and at times they couldn't handle us on the counter (just like Hibs) as their defense has zilch when it comes to pace. I thought Sives had been playing OK until he came off and I hope he's fit for the semi-final. That said, Talbot and Kyle were outstanding as center halves and were up there with Keaghan for MOTM. I wouldn't mind keeping either of them there if it means scrapping the Fordyce/Sives bomb-scare combination. Rutherford looked nervous at the start but got into the game and made a case for staying in the side more regularly. McKenna played fairly well as a wing back and covered every blade of grass down that right wing. I like how direct he is but his crossing is mince, but other than Keaghan I can't see who else we can play there. However, just like the Raith game, none of our players seem hungry for the ball when it comes to throw ins or when McKenna/Rutherford were dribbling on the wings.

Certainly not our worst performance so far this season, plenty to be positive about. Final note, the guy at the furthest row back in A3: shut the fuck up ya' moany cretin.

Could've been 2 or 3 had it not been for Jamieson, who made a couple of cracking saves again yesterday. I'd say thus far he's been our stand out performer and we'll do well to keep him much longer. Noticed a scout for St Johnstone leaving 5-10 minutes before the end yesterday, I'd say it's highly likely he was sent to watch him. Other than that, Rangers were absolute dog shite in front of goal, kind of fitting that it was a worldie that won the game for them. Our Incapabilities upfront are a concern though. We haven't scored a goal in what feels like ages, and we had a couple of really good chances. I think we need to start Hipps, and play him as an out and out number 9, he has all the attributes to do it, I believe him and White can partner really well together. What we are missing is the link up play between midfield, something we once had really strongly in Scougall and McNUlty. Overall though, I felt first half we were decent, and unfortunate to go in behind. Second half we were poor and looked like a relegation side. If Rangers were in the SPL, they'd be relegation material. They were fucking awful.

Finally a word on the Huns, utter horrible cunts. Scrapping, sectarianism and now threatening a boycott of Almondvale over the article in the programme. Hope the filthy fucking bastards go through with their boycott, then we won't have to suffer their bile here again. Cunts.

We couldn't get anywhere near them, and weren't scoring in a million years. This was at home as well. If you can't score in home games against relatively poor sides like Rangers, then you're certainly a candidate for relegation. The first round of games is almost over and we're sitting 8th, but could drop further.

Yet again, you accuse me of posting 'nonsense' but have nothing to back it up with.

Had left with about 15 mins to go to pick my daughter up at the airport but heard on the radio they cleared a header off the line, surely that looked like scoring.

I get what you're saying as I was surprised how ordinary they looked, really expected them to dominate us. Although Sevco looked nothing special for the money they've spent on players from a higher league, they're the 2nd best team in the Championship on merit. They've also got a big squad of equal quality players that will come into play around Jan when other teams will struggle with injuries, suspensions, and a bit of jadedness due to carrying a niggle or just dip in form.

Only Hearts have looked miles better than us and part of that was down to how utter shite we were due to being overawed or something, I don't think there are any team we can't hold our own against out of the other 8 teams, but unless we stick the fecking ball in the net we aint going to win and risk getting nothing like the Dumbarton and Raith games.
Our other strikers could do with chipping in with some goals to help White out, and midfield too. We've got midfielders capable of scoring, both Kyle and Keaghan can score from distance, they both good shots on them, just isn't happening though. That's our biggest problem, not being outplayed, but not taking our chances.

We even could've been 1 up against Sevco before they scored, who knows if going ahead would've rattled them as they actually didn't look like scoring until after their goal from nowhere. Their defence looked shaky and if they pushed forward trying to equalise it would've made it easier to get another and punish them like Hibs did. Like I said though we're suffering for no being more clinical in font of goal.

I still think now the really hard games are past and we're back to playing teams we've a good chance of taking points from we'll get better results in the 2nd quarter.
The players better give it their all against Hibs at home and stuff them, that would give us a massive lift going into 2 games against teams of a similar standard to ourselves before we get the 3 part time teams.

Oooft, got carried away there and wrote a novel, lol.

What good summing up of our season, we had two excellent efforts in the second half ,a turn and spin shot from White that went wide and a header from Kyle which was cleared off the line.

I thought we were excellent on Saturday, two up front is certainly the way to go especially at home and we can compete against any team in the league imo.

We have played everybody now with the exception of Falkirk and I feel that over the next three games we will get back to winning ways.

Keaghan had a very good game yesterday but he needs to play some defence splitting forward balls into White , instead of going sideways all the time, was one yesterday in the second half that he hesitated and played wide to McKenna when a wee ball straight through would have left the Big Man bang in the middle of the area. If he added forward balls which lead to goals then he would be an excellent midfielder. Just look at Chelsea's second goal yesterday when a great straight ball from Fabregas to Costa led to a great goal. That's the difference in getting goals.....it's all about the quality of ball to the striker that makes the goal. I believe we have in both Keaghan and White something special if only they could start to link up more.

So in reality we have Gallagher and Mensing to come back,we have a centre midfielder and striker who could have a great season working together, we have Dj who is an excellent keeper and we have some excellent young players like Rutherford who did really well yesterday after a shaky first 20 mins or so. We have lots of positives and I still feel we will surprise some folks this season and lexi collecter will be one of those that are surprised.

I don't have to back it up....it speaks for itself.

We couldn't get anywhere near them? Really? Report I read today suggested Ian Black got caught in possession so often it wasn't funny (which I agree with)...by your assessment it must have been by his own teammates.

We almost scored a couple of times, most notably when Kyle's header was cleared off the line. Apart from the "worldy" they did score I could say they weren't scoring in a million years.

Your final sentence is so astute I almost wet myself in excitement...we are 8th in a 10 club league but we could drop further? Well spotted that man.
