Anybody else watch the Scottish Masters tournament last night?
It was held at Braehead Arena (primarily an ice hockey rink). They made the pitch out of a blue carpet style covering. It looked cheap and nasty and turned into an embarrassment as it kept coming loose at the joins. At one point Hearts conceded a goal because of it and complained that the game should have been stopped before the goal was scored. Later on it happened against Rangers and they stopped it right away before anything could develop. (Yes, the refs favour them even in Masters tournies )
In the end Celtic won it having won the round robin ahead of Hibs, Hearts & Rangers, with the latter getting the wooden spoon. Celtic then beat Hibs in the final.
What struck me was the number of Ex Livi players on show… Dorrans, Burchill, Miller, McKenzie are four that come to mind immediately and there may have been more… did Jose Quitongo play for us?
Interestingly Dorrans played well and is still playing professionally and Gary Hooper is looking for a club (and is well capable of sticking the ball in the net).
