Livi v Morton
I know its early in the week guys and i dont normally post till later in the week but felt i had to on this occasion.Iknow the covers are probably down but i feel that underneath our pitch will definatly be brick hard with the sub zero temperatures that weve endured.i also reckon that any rise in temperature this week albeit minimal will not be enough for it to thaw out sufficiantly especially with the afore mentiond temps to return towards the end of the week.Ive already made alternative arrangements for Saturday should the inevitable happen unfortunatly and i reckon others will probably follow suit.Sorry to be a purveyor of doom guys but thems the facts.

Livi 0-3 Postponed.
Or on the slim chance of us getting a game (WTF's football again, I've forgotten) we'll win this 3-0, fg 7 mins.

No danger that this will be on I think. Not really looking forward to us heading to Tannadice off the back of a month's break...

Any chance we can use some of the fee from selling Mullen to stick on the USH for this game and the midweek Tues night Falkirk game too.

But there is no fee until January at the earliest, so we'd be out of pocket initially.

Wasn't the USH decommissioned again?
incidentally didn't we try out some type of tent thing; think it worked reasonably well for a while and then the thing split

Yeah got told on another forum it was taken out a couple of years back. Just bursting for us to get a game played, but isn't looking likely with the temp being a lot worse than the last time we had to postpone.

Snow footy this weekend I suspect
But if there is, we will be ring rusty & feeling down about Mullen's defection to St Midden...

Looking forward to seeing what Boyd can do, from what I've read he's already been training with us before the deal was done, and has looked good.

Re: Livi v Morton
Really need the game to be on. With no income since 18th November (the Glenafton game with a gate if 735) and the costs associated with the relatively late postponement of the Falkirk game things must be getting a bit tight.
Looking at the weather forecast it could go either way.
At the moment what happens on the pitch is almost inconsequential; getting the game to be played will be the real victory.

Am I missing something? It's due to be in the sub zero temperature from 16:00 on Friday until 10 am on Saturday and we're looking at taking the covers off early?

Re: Livi v Morton
As much as we would all want the game to be on i feel the harsh reallity will set in once they pull back the covers on Fri afternoon. If as i suspect the pitch is brick hard and bearing in mind the temperature predicted for Friday night i sincerely hope that the club do away with the obligatory but unneccsery Saturday morning pitch inspection so as to give supporters the time to make alternative arrangements for Saturday rather than fanny us about.Yes its frustrating but it is Winter time afterall and most of us should have expected something like this to happen. There again tis the season for miracles but alas im afraid not this time!!!

Assuming the covers are the proper standard they should be easily capable of protecting the ground against the temperatures we've been facing. however as soon as they're off the then its at the fate of air temperature

Surely they need to be on until Saturday morning since sub zero temperatures are forecast for Friday night. Confused.com

Re: Livi v Morton
Wonder if it's a case of taking them off to inspect the pitch, and putting them back down again if the pitch is looking good, or postponing the game if it's that bad that it won't recover by Saturday.
Only reason I can think of for taking them off 24 hours before the game.

Didn't we get these covers from Ross County?
Surely if they were good enough to combat the temperatures in the highlands they should be capable of doing the job down here. We'll soon find out, fingers crossed.

No frost this morning, maybe they aren't daft lifting the covers today after all.

Aye but it's dropping to below zero again tonight and not going above till 9 o'clock tomorrow morning.
Up to 9°c on Sunday and 11°c on Tuesday though. Bets on a waterlogged pitch by then.

Not sure about the no frost this morning - I could hardly stand up on my driveway - it had either rained or snow had melted and refrozen.

Pitch inspection at 9.30am tomorrow, if it doesn't pass there would be no point having another one later again.

Re: Livi v Morton
I knew it.Ifriggin knew it.The obligatory Saturday morning pitch inspection has come to fruition.A couple of people who witnessed the covers being lifted even said that the pitch was hard underneath,so bearing in mind the temperature we are going to get overnight was a morning inspection really neccesery.Personally i feel the fans have been short changed here by giving them false hope but its not the first time theyve done that is it?.Our players are going to be as rusty as a pair of old hobnail boots so hopefully Hoppy will get something arranged for them to try to get them up to match speed.Still waiting for that wee miracle i spoke about before.Naw Bah Humbug.

The pitch inspection will have to be done to get it officially called off, could prob have just asked for a ref to do one today though, isn't likely to be any better tomorrow.

I'm already resigned to no fitba tomorrow. Makes it easier when the announcement is made.
