Gary Lineker and the BBC Empty Gary Lineker and the BBC

What a clusterfeck the bbc have made of this, bowing down to some political pressure from the Tories, suspending him from MoTD, all the other presenters unite behind him and there is no presenters left to do the usual format. Truth be told i enjoyed watching the games with no commentary, gibbering pish just to fill the dead air, when you just want to watch the football in peace. Don't mind the analysis afterwards though, just wish you had the option of lwatching games just having the crowd noise alone.

Anyway back to the Lineker saga, they've now folded and want him back on next weekend, from what i've seen in twitter of Lineker doing an interview on this very subject, he has nothing in his contract stopping him from expressing his own personal opinion on twitter, politics or anything else. So legally they haven't a leg to stand on.

Total farce their impartiality pretence anyway, they have many employees with ties to the Tories, the DG donates hundreds of thousands of pounds to them, others sit in the house of commons, and even have political reporters and such that have other jobs writing political collums for newspapers. Michael Portillo is employed by the bbc, and was on a politics show saying Lineker shouldn't be expressing a political opinion as he should be showing impartiality, erm, has he no self awareness! lol!
Ian Hislop works for the bbc on HIGNFY, and is also the editor of the satirical magazine Private Eye, making fun of the Tories, it really is a complete nonsense this, and all because the DG of the bbc is a Tory, and his masters ordered him to come down on Lineker.

The media coverage and seeing them all camped outside his house, you'd think he had committed a major crime.

Can’t disagree with you, the really made a mountain out of a mole hill and created a storm in a teacup.

In a way their heavy handed approach actually gave off the suggestion that his comments were too close to the mark for them….
