Livi Prediction League 2016/17

Welcome one and all to the third edition of The Livi Room Prediction League for the season 2016/17. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say this, but the addition of predictions when discussing upcoming matches has certainly added another level of interest (or formed the main level of interest for a few on here given the horror of last season) to pre-match discussion. Last year's edition saw 19 entrants over the course of a vastly disappointing season for Livingston, culminating in the disastrous defeat to Stranraer in the Championship play-offs. It wasn't all bad news, as LiviCub picked up the Prediction League title with some to spare, joining Lexi Collector in the Winners' Room. I've heard whispers that there is a secret Winners' Room forum, and I'm sure there is some tremendous exchanges in there. Two's a crowd, and all that.

Everyone on here will no doubt be familiar with the rules behind the PL, but for those requiring a recap or for any newbies, see below.

• Post what you think the score will be in the match thread to enter for that week. This will count to your overall points. Your overall points will remain the same, should you miss a week.
  
• 3 points for the correct score, 1 point for the correct result.
  
• Correct result in cup games after extra-time and/or penalties. For example, a prediction of 0-0 but Livi to win on penalties will earn 1 point, should Livi win over 90 minutes or in extra-time. Correct score will count after 90 minutes.
  
• Closest to the time for the first goalscorer wins a bonus point. In the event of a tie, bonus point will be split.

16th July '16 - Livingston 2-3 St Mirren (FG 13 mins)

No correct scores in the maiden game of the season, but a spot on first goal time. Congrats, EL!

20th July '16 - Edinburgh City 0-3 Livingston (FG 27 mins)

Liviforever: 2-1 (FG 13 mins) - 1 point
Bertie Bassett: 1-1 (City on pens) (FG 14 mins)

Clean sweep of the points for Livilion, first of the season so far.

26th July '16 - Livingston 0-2 Ayr United (FG 19 mins)

Predictions were;

Liviforever: 2-1 (FG 37 mins)
Livilion: 1-1 (Livi on pens) (FG 27 mins) - 1 point
Bertie Bassett: 0-1 (FG 84 mins) - 1 point
LiviCub: 2-0 (FG 51 mins)

Bertie Bassett's trademark pessimism/realism giving him the only correct result of the evening.

30th July '16 - Hamilton Academical 2-1 Livingston (FG 22 mins)

Predictions were;

Livilion: 0-2 (FG 17 mins) - 2 points
Bertie Bassett: 1-4 (FG 11 mins) - 1 point

The return of the League Cup group stages clearly capturing the imagination of Livi supporters here. Glorified friendly but a competitive game nonetheless, hence it's inclusion. Kudos to Livilion for taking advantage.

Cheers for starting this, Afro. I was meaning to speak to EL about who would get the ball rolling but you've went one step ahead of the both of us! I've made it a sticky thread so it stays at the top of the pile.

6th August '16 - Livingston 5-1 Stranraer (FG 5 mins)

Pessimism (or realism, depending on your viewpoint) letting down a few predictions with the largest opening day win ever recorded by Livingston. Table updated.

At last my blind optimism paid off, I might just have a chance of doing well this season if we keep on winning, gonna by faf seeing Bertie fighting against his natural instinct and try and not put down Livi defeats.

Funny thing is I used to win a prediction league at a former place of work... and I won one of the seasons on Livilions... & wasn't being negative that season. I've been pretty close to the top with my negative predictions, hopefully this season will see me fighting relegation rather than Livi.

13th August '16 - Airdrie 2-4 Livingston (FG 13 mins)

LiviCub and Bertie aren't doing too good this season with them still predicting draws and losses, our winning form is having a negative effect on last season's prediction league front runners.

I believe I got nearest time to the first goal and have moved up to just .5 of a point off the top spot, could go top along with Livi this weekend if we win 3-1.
