Yeah the severity of the foul isn't always a factor on the punishment, you can get red cards with very little or no contact at all (foul on Robbo against Celtic where he jumped in the air to avoid serious injury), intent, or being out of control risking serious harm to an opposition player can get you red cards, afraid Boyes was out of control and dangerous with studs up, he tries to point his foot forward to keep his studs down but too late to avoid initial contact.
Still think it catches Morelos ankle, and yeah doesn't look anything as bad as he makes out rolling about, but imo it's still a red card. Pisser VAR gets involved* because they missed incidents in other games and we'd have got away with a yellow. Just our luck being on the wrong end of a VAR decision after all the times Sevco have got away with offside goals and other shit playing us without VAR.
*with Greg Aitken on VAR we were never getting away with any potential red card decisions, i was actually expecting him to target Nouble's high arms, because of his height his arms can be in opposition players faces when they're trying to grab onto him. All the excuses certain refs (looking at you Aitken & Clancy) need to book a Livi player.
