Win this and we move into 2nd place, been getting draws away from home though, apart from at Raith where we managed a last minute goal. All eyes on the Fri night game between Accies and Falkirk tonight, hopefully Accies take something and we can close the gap on Falkirk too.

Our starting line up is anyone's guess, defence picks itself, with only the LB position in doubt, between Clarks and Montano, midfield is Pittman, Kelly & Brandon*, and then the weekly lottery of a front three, with who'll be playing beside May. Shinnie/Muirhead/Yengi & Smith/Sole.

*Dunno if Brandon is injured as Lawal started against Caley and Brandon wasn't in the match day squad.

Anyway, mon the Lions, go get those 3pts. cheers

Said on another forum a draw wouldn't be any good to either Ayr or Livi, more so Ayr I reckon.Especialy as you point out Falkirk at Accies tonight could open up a wee gap.Would love to get big Yengi back for this,up front with May would i suspect cause Ayr real problems.Like Falkirk, Somerset will be a test of our genuine credentials as serious contenders for the title, even this early, and would be a statement of intent.Once again a draw on the road wouldn't be a disaster, but bugger it,go for the Win Livi.Huge incentive.Mon the Lions.👊🦁⬆.

Yengi and Muirhead selected to partner May up front in this week's front three tombola.

Interesting selection, could be decent if Yengi gets the right service, balls to feet running at goal, and not with his back to goal passing behind him. A Yengi running at goal is always chaotic for opposition defenders, but he's easily dealt with if pressured with his back to goal.

We also need wingers getting down the flanks to provide service to May and Muirhead, and not having them coming deep to pick up the ball and carry it down the wings themselves, they're who we're wanting in the box getting onto deliveries. Montano starting will at least work overlaps with Muirhead, and get down the left wing. Sole on the bench for a 2nd half sub coming on against tiring opposition defenders.Livi v Ayr Screen48

Wasn't at the game so only going on what i've read from both sets of fans and the bbc report, we were miles better than them 1st half and should've had it wrapped up, Ayr got a goal back though before HT, and were the better team 2nd half, but we clung on to take all 3pts.

Great result for us, moving up to 2nd place, with a game in hand to Ayr and Falkirk. Really good going drawing with Partick and Falkirk away, and now beating Ayr away. Win all our home games against them and we wont be far away from being top.

Yeah, absolutely delighted to hear we’d won this one but I must have a rant about BBC Scotland radio coverage. I was listening to open all mics & their “Championship game of the day” was our game, with Chic Young reporting. He kept chipping in with the odd comment and mentioned how good the game was. When the games had ended the studio guys heavily implied they would be talking about all their featured games… I never heard another word about our game. Admittedly I was in the chippy for 15 mins getting our fish suppers so they may have touched on it then but they were constantly rehashing the top tier games when I was listening, so why not afford their second tier game of the day the same courtesy? Poor show BBCS

Anyway, great result, well done lads. Let’s keep it going.

Their report on our game against Falkirk was a joke, mentioning us twice in a report heavily praising Falkirk. The 2 mentions included saying who Falkirk were playing, and where we were in the league, we're now sitting 2nd and only 4pts behind Falkirk, with a game in hand, and still flying under the radar. Only team still unbeaten in the league too, Mon the Livi Lions.

Partick, Falkirk and Ayr away are 3 tough venues, they've all good home form, and think that's Ayr's first home defeat in the league too. To come away with 5pts from those games is pretty decent. Now we need to beat Raith and Dunfermline in our final 2 games in Oct and it'll have been a great month for us, along with getting past ICT in the cup game.

Some goal by Muirhead, what a hit.

Yengi could've/should've made an effort to get back and challenge for the ball after losing it, he just saunters back not even trying to get a challenge in there, their player wasn't exactly running with the ball either, he was going at walking pace. It allowed him to put in a ball for their goal. The scorer looks offside too, is inside the box for the rebound and our defender is outside the 6 yard box.

Yeah, Muirhead’s goal is a belter. Yengi’s chipped pass to Pitts is also excellent and Pitts is very composed in his finish. He has tended to snatch at chances in the last couple of seasons but seems to have found his form in front of goal again… maybe just that wee bit extra time at this level.

Agree with Martindale on the first quarter pts tally, there are games we could've/should've won that we drew, Morton home, QP & Partick Th away, but a couple we got wins at we could easily have drawn/lost, Raith and Ayr away. So all in all we're where we deserve to be.

Think we've improved a good bit from our Betfred cup group games, looking solid defensively, but could still be doing with knocking in a few more goals if we want to improve our pts tally for the 2nd quarter.

Sitting 4pts behind Falkirk in 2nd place, with a game in hand, very decent start for us.

It was a good game to watch. Scary at times but two teams going all out for the win. There was little of that eye watering passing across and back. We played some nice stuff in the first half and went in deservedly in the lead. Ayr came out in the second half and threw everything at us. We did ride our luck a bit as Ayr shot wide and just over a few times. I would have taken a draw before the game so I was delighted we hung on.
Muirhead played really well. Pitts was a menace all afternoon and Danny Wilson showed why he once played at the level he did. Yengi huffed and puffed till he was eventually replaced and we had the usual Montano injury.
The refereeing was abysmal. We got very little while Ayr who were adept at throwing themselves down at the merest contact fooled him every time.
Hopefully we keep that unbeaten run going for a while yet.
