    Almondvale Empty Almondvale

Post by Lexi Collector Fri Apr 17, 2015 10:39 pm

A mate and I went down to the open training session this evening. Didn't really watch much of the session, but we sat in our old seats from back in the SPL days, halfway up Section V in the south stand. Moved along to the top of Section T which is in the corner between the south and east stands. An absolutely brilliant view and if the stadium was full you'd get an amazing atmosphere. A crying shame we can't come close to filling what is an absolutely superb ground. North and east stands were a bit neglected, north stand was just covered in dust. We're planning on going down during pre-season and seeing if they'll let us in for a few hours.

Absolutely smashing ground, brought back a lot of great memories and would be fantastic if we were ever able to open more stands for home fans. Local apathy and finances mean it won't happen for a very long time, but I'd love a season ticket in section T looking toward full south and west stands.

Used to sit in X & loved the view from there; there were a group of 9 of us back then; only 2 still come (me & my youngest) & my oldest comes along if he is visiting us for the weekend. Those were great days, great atmosphere & a more than decent side on the pitch.

I have always preferred watching a game from behind the goals as you can see the full width & how it is being used (or not as the case may be).

Absolutely. Almondvale looks awfully dull and depressing these days, as its virtually empty, but when I was in section T today I got a great view of the pitch and the stadium in general. Because it's a closed corner it shows you that our ground has the potential for an absolutely amazing atmosphere. It looks a bit bigger than 10K as well.

Hasn't any restricted views with pillars either and is a fantastic stadium for being close to the pitch. I prefer sitting side on to the pitch and being as close to the centre line as I can but you get a decent view no matter where you sit in our ground.

I used to sit in the East stand before we won promotion to the SPL, then moved over to the West stand and got a ST there, pretty much sitting where I consider perfect now.

Over the years as our group thinned down it became easier to move to where I wanted, far enough back to be sheltered from driving rain but central to enjoying the banter between the away dugout and our fans. Occasionally I sit right at the back at cup games and the view is even better but you are more detached from the pitch side banter.

The pitch-side banter is the only positive of sitting in the WS I think. I'd move back to the SS in a heartbeat if I could. The best thing about the top of section T is that you get a good view of the crowd as well as the pitch. If the ground was full and you had a cracking atmosphere (particularly in the SS) it'd be an absolutely magnificent place to watch football - I've always liked the idea of sitting high up and in a corner of a ground, although it's not possible at Livi these days.

Bit of a pointless thread though, as we'll never fill the place and/or get a great atmosphere at a full Almondvale. The point I'm trying to make basically: section T would be class if the ground were full.

My mind may be playing tricks on me, but I think the DBM used be over in T before they were punted to C3.

Always thought they were detached from the rest of the fans over there, seemed daft splitting up from the support and made them sound very far away too which didn't help the team much. Bit like having 3 Livi fans forums, we should all be supporting the team together.
