The seeding has been confirmed for our (South) section of the League Cup

Top seeds: Motherwell, Partick Thistle, Hamilton Academical, Kilmarnock

Second seeds: Rangers, Morton, St Mirren, Queen of the South

Unseeded clubs: Ayr United, Livingston, Stranraer, Airdrieonians, Albion Rovers, Stenhousemuir, Queen's Park, Clyde, Annan Athletic, Berwick Rangers, Edinburgh City, East Stirlingshire

Groups consist of one top and second seed team and three unseeded teams. The eight group winners between the two regions would go through along with the four best runners up, can't see the top two of all the groups being anything other than a Premier League and Championship team.

Purely luck of the draw, but it would be good to avoid any other teams in our league to avoid playing at least a fifth game against them but considering six of the remaining eleven in the unseeded teams are in our league, it looks like we'll end up with two.

For a financial gain or to potentially visit stadiums I haven't been to before, I'd take Motherwell (stadium), Rangers (money), Edinburgh City (stadium/money/derby) and Airdrie (money).

No matter what group we get I can't see us finishing in the top two, so personally I'd like us to get a group where we can make a bit more money and (selfishly) get to a new stadium or two. Only ones there I've not been to are Albion Rovers, Clyde, and Edinburgh City.

Motherwell, Rangers, Edinburgh City and Clyde for me.

Albion's is horrible. Clyde's is like Airdrie's & Edinburgh City's is Meadowbank. Nothing particularly exciting about any of them unless it is purely to cross them off the "Been there" list.

Presumably the top four from the premier are given "byes" to the knock out rounds?

Teams playing in Europe get a bye since I think group games are played at the same time as the qualifiers. So Celtic, Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs avoid the group stage.

You reckon we'll get above Edin City then. Laughing

Wasn't impressed with Ayr in the play off final, thought Stranraer looked far better at passing the ball and were done by bad refereeing decisions. Ayr may strengthen their team for the Championship right enough but we'll see.

Unless we gel quick and retain Buchanan then we may well come last in that group, too early to say as we really wont have a clue till we see what kind of team we have. Best case scenario is we may actually be better than last season and come 2nd (1st is too much even for me to hope for). Worst case is we are completely guff with losing White & Buchanan and haven't gelled yet and come last.

Means we're playing St Mirren in a friendly to size them up before we play them in this too though.

If nothing else it gives us a decent work out before the league starts.

Sat 16th July - St Mirren (Home)
Wed 20th July - Edinburgh City (Away)
Sat 23rd July - No game
Tue 26th July - Ayr United (Home)
Sat 30th July - Hamilton (Away)

Away to Edinburgh City is decent, not sure why it's on the Wednesday instead of Tuesday though...

Not sure about this yet, looking at those games i'm not motivated to go to any away games and will prob just head down to our home ones. Still just feels like pre season games to me.

So its a group format but we only play the other teams once? What a load of crap!

We will be 4th at best & I've a funny feeling Edinburgh City will be right up for it & give us a doing as well.

Quite difficult to gauge how well we will do considering the squad is nowhere near finished changing, and neither have those of our group rivals here.

Pleased with Edinburgh City away as it should be a good experience but not too fussed about the rest.

Both of Edinburgh City's home games are on a Wednesday and they play Ayr and St Mirren away on the Saturday so there can't be a ground issue with either of them. Anyone have an idea as to what their stadium is being used for on the Saturday fixtures?

Basically what I'm saying is, there is an opportunity being missed here for a day session in the capital... drunken

£12 for adults and £6 for concessions for the 2 home games.

£10 & £5 would have been more attractive and less hassle at the turnstiles
