December Fixture List Empty December Fixture List

Post by Liviforever Sun Dec 04, 2016 1:32 pm

Huge month for us, we've 6 games in December incl our midweek Stenny game a week on Tues. I think this is where our FT status and having a good sized squad with good quality players waiting to come in will start to tell.

Our first game in Dec was a huge win, Rovers will be a tough team against anyone in this league and one of the teams it really means something to take 3 points against, they'll take points off our rivals.

Stranraer away should be an easier game, I don't think their style of football will trouble us and we should score goals against them.

Stenny away are our game in hand and again should be a team we have no problems scoring goals against.

Airdrie at home, massive game and we've already beaten them twice this season, but both of those game were away and we're now on 6 away wins in a row so our away form is a lot better than our home one. This will really be a season defining game, a win will prob put daylight between us and the rest of the teams and give us a real psychological advantage over the other top 4 teams with us having beaten all of them home and away.

QP at home, another team that makes it difficult for us to score against, and will be a tough game for us following the Airdrie one, they aren't very good in attack though but they still beat us in the first game so we can't take them lightly. I feel we owe them one more than most with Mullin's goal being wrongly chopped off, I feel we were done out of 3 points because I really believe we'd have went on to win the game had that goal been given.

East Fife away, another tough one but they've lost their manager and are struggling with injuries so I don't think they'll be the same team that beat us in the first game against them in Methil, we should win this one.

Well looking at those fixtures I think we'll win 4 of them (incl the one we just won Smile ) and will have a tough game against QP with them parking the bus, and the Airdrie game could go either way, can we win all 6 games though, that would be a real statement of intent and we'd most definitely be well on our way to winning the league. It's Livi though and we all know how we like to make things difficult for ourselves, looking forward to seeing how we're doing by the end of this month.

Interesting assessments and I'm moderately surprised that you (being the ultimate eternal optimist) haven't declared that we'll win them all in a canter.

It will definitely be an interesting month.

Don't care how we do it but we've got to be top of table on 1st January, even if it's only by goal difference. Apparently Airdrie are going to be busy in January with some 'big' signings so we've got to at least have the psychological edge.

Hey i'm an optimist not a delusionist. Laughing

Airdrie and QP are both on a good run of form, and our home form is a bit iffy of late (since the bad weather made our pitch heavy), so both those games being at home are potential slip ups.

I'll no doubt predict we'll win them when the match threads come up. lol!

So far so good with 3 wins out of 3 in Dec, need to keep it going and win our home games too though.

Well so far we're on track and have what I expected us to have points wise.

Stranraer was tougher than I anticipated but Stenny and Airdrie* were about what I thought they would be and us winning them both without much fuss. QP was the one that I had down as our most difficult game so we'll see how we get on there. They're on a good run, undefeated in their last 6 league games and are grinding out wins and draws.

*Once I saw Andy Ryan was suspended I couldn't see us not winning that game.

Disappointed losing to QP after being 1-0 up but kinda thought we'd slip up there. A win against East Fife this Sat and it would still be a great month, collecting 15 points from 6 games. I doubt any of us would've knocked that back had we been offered it at the start of the month.

The problem on Saturday was more to do with our 2nd half (lack of) performance than QP causing us real problems. In the end we got what we deserved. They surprised me by playing a relatively open game but as others have said they were well drilled in the "professional" aspects of the game.

You are of course correct, 15 out of 18 would be more than acceptable. However another slip up on Saturday and the other results going against us and it's all back in the mix.

Hopefully the loss to QP will secure Gus the Manager of the month award so we avoid the curse going into 2017 Very Happy

Their dead ball deliveries were excellent, PT/amateur whatever they are, they're a hell of a lot better than us at corners and free kicks. And that was where their main goal threat was coming from, balls into our box from the wing. Their main man for that was ex  Livi player Millen too and he wasn't even playing, they must put in a decent amount of practice to be as good as they were.

That's a pet hate of mine, professional players should be practicing an hour or so after training on taking free kicks and corners, there should be at least one player in our team doing this.

Absolutely right. The best players do that. John Terry and Frank Lampard were on Soccer AM on Saturday and JT mentioned that Frank's dedication to improving his technique with shooting after regular training was complete inspired many others in the squad to stay back and do similar things.

Pros should always be trying to improve and if training ends early in the day then there is no excuse for not doing a bit of self help
