Fixture Pile Up Empty Fixture Pile Up

Post by Liviforever Thu Mar 02, 2017 6:00 pm

Going be a busy month for us with the fixture pile up from our 2 postponed games being scheduled in March.

    4th Queen's Park A

    7th Albion Rovers H

    11th East Fife H

    18th Stranraer A

    21st Stenhousemuir H

    25th Airdrie H

Could go a long way to seeing if we're going to win the league after these games are played. Four home games though, no guarantee our pitch stand up to the winter weather and will get them all played.

Yes indeed L/F there gonna be coming thick and fast.I feel now is the time for Hopkin and co to show us why we have such a good squad available to him.The team must surely know whats at stake here and what a glorious opportunity lies before them.Like yourself L/F i have major concerns about our playing surface which incidently must be one off the worst in Scotland at the moment.Hopefully the players can adapt to it quickly becuase these home games are going to be crucail to our impending succsess god willing!.

The two mid-week games are at home and against part-time opposition we should be beating with all circumstances considered. Hopkin has mentioned it before that he has a good enough squad to make changes when needed so this is his chance to prove that.

I'd be expecting guys like Knox and Sinclair to play the midweek matches. With all due respect to AR and Stenny, I'd say they're the easiest games we have this month, and I'd much rather we kept our best XI for games on the Saturdays of this month.

I don't really see any reason why we can't get six wins here. Obviously EF are the big barrier to that but a win there and I feel it'd be a real hurdle cleared mentally by the players and management.

I don't know how you two reckon Albion Rovers will be easy, we lost to them the last time we played them at home and it took a dubious penalty award in the last couple of minutes for us to beat them away from home, they've been just as difficult to play against as QP. They'll park the bus and try to hit us on the break, I doubt we'll find it easy to score against them, they come not to lose rather than try to win and will try to frustrate us, which will have our home support getting on our players backs. Also adding in our pitch, where we'll have to change our playing style to one that will prob suit Rovers defenders. I feel like Bertie here, being all negative but I just can't see that game being easy, and think it's one we could drop points.

Airdrie and Stenny have been our easiest games. Stranraer have got defensively better as the season progressed, although I thought we should have beaten them late on with the chances we created, it'll be tough but if we're a bit more clinical we should beat them, esp when we'll be on a plastic pitch rather than our divot covered one.

AR's form is hardly great, they've not won since the first weekend in January, although granted a number of games have been called off. They've been a tough team in previous games but they're not on the same level as EF. Hopefully your man Todorov can offer us something different against teams like them and QP. Wink

Yeah maybe but against us they've made it difficult and I can't see it being an easy game. Looking at their results too, their form hasn't dipped that much, their last 6 games has had a draw with Alloa and wins over Airdrie & Brechin in January, a defeat to Stranraer and two draws to Peterhead & Stenny in February. That doesn't suggest they'll be easy to me. They don't score many goals but they don't usually concede many either, must be pretty grim watching them play all the time, grinding out results.

Agree with you about Todorov though, really couldn't understand why Hopkin didn't bring him on against Stranraer when we were struggling, imo he's just what we need against teams like QP & Rovers, esp when we're at home and needing a big strong target man with us having to play long balls.

Nice dose of realism from you there LF. We are targets in this league, so teams will often raise their game but we are just as likely to lower ours. We are notoriously bad against the teams we SHOULD beat & with our pitch cutting up the way it is, our home games are lotteries.

The problem our players have is our fans think we should beat everyone in this league, so they get berated in home games when we're not winning. Some even think we should be winning 4 or 5 nil in every game and aren't satisfied just to win 1-0 or 2-1.

I actually enjoy away games more, our players must be the same, the fans get behind the team more and our last game against Airdrie was the best both players and support has been this season.

Yep, I mentioned something similar elsewhere. If we are not winning at least 4-0 we are rubbish and the manager is useless and it's really the unqualified, former convict that is making all the decisions with Rankine pulling the strings... and we are bound to be going bust soon anyway. What's more, if anyone is incapable of seeing these incontrovertible facts they must be blind, deaf, deluded, stupid or all of the above.

For the hard of understanding apart from the first sentence, the above is my paraphrase of what the folk referred to by LF in the previous post want us to believe that it is what they believe.

Well that was a decent month for us, played 6 games in March and got 4 wins, a draw and a defeat. Just hope Hopkin doesn't get the MoTM and jinx us for Playing Alloa.
