John Lambie

Sad to hear about the passing of John Lambie. He was a Thistle legend and was a local man from Whitburn. RIP.

He was my next door neighbour in Whitburn before my mum and dad moved to Livingston, i used to play football with his oldest daughter. Can remember when he was Accies manager and they put Rangers out of the cup, all the Rangers fans were buying him vodkas in the Cross Tavern pub in Whitburn, there were vodkas lined up right along the bar, him and his mate Tam Hamilton were steaming on free drink that night.

Don't think the Falkirk fans held him in the same regard as Thistle fans though, one of them ran him off the road when he was their manager.

Think you mean put Celtic out of the cup.

Nope it was def Rangers, but the Rangers fans all knew him and bought him drink congratulating him on his win.

That was good of them. A different era though.

Yeh.Sad to see another unique charector gone from us.He had his own way of doing things his way.Some may say somewhat strange but for a good part of his football life it worked.Sad day for the jags and for Scottish football.RIP John.
