Airdrie v Livi {Betfred cup}

With all this World cup action going on our season opener in the Betfred cup has sneaked up on us unnoticed. Difficult to know what to expect here, we've only played 2 pre season games, so Airdrie may be a bit ahead of us in their preparations, I think we should have enough of a goal threat to see them off though, but we may also concede a couple.

Cadden is on fire in the pre season games and has a great record scoring against Airdrie, so i'd be surprised if he doesn't get at least one goal here. Any kind of win would do.

Airdrie have Dale Carrick; Sean Creighton and Kyle (knobhead) Wilkie in their team don't they?

Yep, expecting Carrick to score against us.

Checked their pre season games there, they've played 5, 2 wins, 2 draws, and a 3-2 defeat to Falkirk last Sat, so they're a good bit ahead of us in their preparations.

Yeah & scored a barrowload twice against non-league opponents.

Decent start to competitive play, 2-1 win coupled with Annan humbling Hamilton 1-0

Miller marked his debut with an injury time booking; our only indiscretion in the game.

When you look at other results today,ie Morton Hamilton Dun Utd Falkirk Raith etc.All lost but we got a result putting us top of our mini league.Happy with that though a lot of work still to be done before the real stuff kicks in.Nevertheless well done to the the Lions for a wining start to what is going to be a demanding season for us.LOL.T.

Good solid start by us, we had a couple of near things on their goal before finally going ahead, then adding a 2nd and we were coasting. Hitting the woodwork 3 times and another couple of saves by their keepers legs saving them it was all one sided. Then we shoot ourselves in the foot losing possession on the halfway mark after pissing about with the ball, Airdrie go straight up and score, that gave them the clichéd lift they needed to give us a game on our hands, they hit the woodwork and we do the same with Robinsons shot off the post.

All in all it was a good work out for us, we could've/should've had the game wrapped up but it was maybe more beneficial to us getting the harder game than it would've been winning 4-0. It showed up some flaws in our game, and we will have learnt more from that than had we coasted to an easy win.

With Annan beating Hamilton it was a good day for us though, at this stage getting the points and learning something to help us improve is just what we needed.

Obv we're still a bit rusty, but we had some really slick attacking moves and these Betfred cup games are excellent for getting us ready for the League campaign. I like the look of Sibbald, he came on and gave us a bit of a push when we needed it, he takes players on and has a great eye for a pass, cracking signing for us.

Kelly did well with his kicking, and made a good save 2nd half too, I was pleasantly surprised at him being better than I expected.

No idea, Henderson was on the bench too, apart from Sibbald we were rather lacking in quality from the bench. If we're putting youth players there i'd rather see Hamilton getting a chance, he could've come on for Lee Miller when he got tired late on.

Clark is a highly rated youth player. Defender apparently.
