    Crowd Trouble Empty Crowd Trouble

Post by Durnford Mon Mar 04, 2019 12:05 pm

Was interesting watching SportScene last night when they also covered missiles and pyrotechnics and seats being thrown at the Aberdeen v sevco match whilst bottles and coins were thrown at the Hibs v. celtic game. It was described as "a very disturbing development for Scottish football".

They're probably right but it does seem quite strange that it mainly happens when a small number of teams or a particular manager is involved?

Cant recall much being said about crowd trouble at Kilmarnock v Motherwell or St. Mirren v. Livingston or even Dundee United v Inverness?

Every team has its idiots but i remember the "golden rain" lottery at Ibrox from almost 20 years ago (cups filled with urine and flung at visiting support). Here we are and still nothing done or any idea of how to stop it; fair enough Gerard has issued a statement to their supporters asking them to stop but it hasn't made any difference.

Surely the time has come to consider fines and points deduction for repeat offenders?

That being said it also assumes that those in charge have some form of backbone which we all know they don't.

We got caged in after leaving the St Mirren ground, the stewards had shut the gates on us to stop us running riot and attacking the St Mirren fans, had to stand there for ages waiting on the steward being told by his supervisor that it was safe to let us out. Livi fans eh, what a reputation we have. Rolling Eyes

On the missile throwing, it'll be the same as the sectarian singing, they'll just roll out the old 'something has to be done but we don't know what'.

Could always kill two birds with one stone here and bring out the same rule to cover both of them, hitting offending clubs with points deductions and/or closing down sections of their ground, ordering closed door games between offending clubs (Sevco v Celtic). I'd be utterly amazed if anyone has the bottle to do anything though, except the ones chucking them onto the pitch.

I would love it to be so draconian that for the Scott Sinclair incident the referee should have upgraded the corner to a penalty - can you imagine the effect???

Interesting to see that Steven (plastic pitches damage my player) Gerrard is now complaining about the state of the Aberdeen (GRASS) pitch. For gawd sake giees some peace; its Scotland in winter - what do you expect????

Also was at St Mirren on Saturday and noticed they'd shut the doors stopping us getting to the car park; so we simply walked around the big tent thing covering the training pitches.

Yeah the disabled fans couldn't do that though, the stewards must've been shitting themselves in case the St Mirren fans got run over by wheelchairs or attacked by crutches.

Gerrard only comes out with this pish after his team fails to win a game, didn't hear him complaining about our plastic pitch when they beat us 3-0.

As someone who goes to every game I'd be raging mad if the likes of Rangers or Celtic v Livi was closed doors. That would be penalising away fans. If they go down that road then only the home fans should be banned.
