Livi vs Hibs Empty Livi vs Hibs

Post by Afro Sun Apr 19, 2015 6:18 pm

Well well well, another Wednesday, and another home game for us against one of the Championship's supposed big guns. I think everyone on here will know how Hibs got on in the Scottish Cup on Saturday - I watched a good stretch of the game and for all the possession Hibs had, they simply didn't take their chances and their attitude was abysmal, I thought. The fact that Falkirk, a team who we dominated two weeks ago with ease, just about deservedly beat them, speaks volumes. We are on a fantastic run at the moment, make no qualms about it - in an ideal world, we'd have taken all three points against the tribute act but I think the amount of games and the sheer intensity we've played them with caught up with us.

So, a weekend off for the players, and hopefully the break has served them well physically. Three games to go and if we continue to play with the same desire and intensity that we have been, I think we'll secure a play-off place. That said, I'm fearful of a backlash from Hibs, given their meek exit in the Cup at the weekend and Rangers beginning to pull away from them. As I said in the OP of the Rangers thread, if we play to our potential, as we have been, I think we're good enough for at least a point. Three would be utterly magical. None wouldn't be too surprising, it has to be said, and not the end of the world.

I'm to going to err on the side of caution and predict a 1-1 draw, again. FG 56 minutes.

We're due a bit of luck against them and a few penalty decisions in general for all the shite officials we've had this season, would be great if we got one and it gave us a win over Hibs, just to hear Stubbs greetin about it afterwards.

2-1 Livi, FG 38 mins. Mon the Amber Machine, get it right up that bawheid Oxley tae.

This lot, and Hearts, can't be doing with either of the daft cunts. There's so much which irritates me about this lot, so much that I can't sum it up in one post. Hibs are just a fucking diddy team, with embarrassing fandan supporters who can't afford to watch Celtic. I remember they nicked a banner off the Livi fans in August and took a daft photo with it, whoevers banner it was should've got in touch and took a 3 iron to the daft cunts faces.

Enough of that, we look quite strong at the moment but this'll be a tough game. They'll be out to prove a point after getting a doing at Hampden - wouldn't be surprised if we take something.

Hope Cummings starts so I can shout abuse to his daft wee ugly paedo face.

Left the game early so they could batter a few kids and steal a flag from them. Strange bunch.

Think we can get another point here, or 3. Hibs are pish. Hope we just go for it and with a better official than last week there's no reason for us not to get anything from them.

Hibs were all over Falkirk at the weekend but had some terrible misses, Falkirk had a great cross from Alston and very good header from Sibbald for their goal.

Mon Livi Hippo into White Bang Goal and three points , oh and DJ to keep focused for whole game please.

I reckon Livi can win this. Hopefully the weekend off has helped the players. I am going for 2-1 Livi.

Also, as Lexi said Hibs are a a diddy team. Their fans are shite.

Hibs are Grade A bottle merchants. They'll win this with their fans thinking second place is firmly in their sight before chucking it again against Alloa on Saturday.

    3-1 Hibs. FG 19 mins.

The arse fell out of Hibs on Saturday, in a way that only they could muster. If they had any baws aboot them they would take us to the cleaners on Wednesday, but I think we'll get a point from them.

Take a point, then concentrate all our efforts on 6 from 6 against Raith and Queens.

    Mon the fucking Livi.

I've been expecting the good run of results to end, it hasn't yet, it will & I suspect it will on Wednesday. They will want to close the gap on the Huns knowing that the Huns have Hearts on the last day. 2nd place gets the benefit of a bye to the play-off semi & while it is still possible for them to get it I expect them to beat the lower sides in the league.

Feeling strangely "jumpy" about this one.

On paper we should have an excellent chance; Hibs down after their cup exit; Stubbs with the challenge or re-motivating them for the promotion push; us on the back of a 5 game undefeated streak

However you'll have to look back to 3rd February for our last clean sheet in the league and the time before that was 21st October. Cole and Gallagher have formed what appears to be a strong partnership in the central defence but we really need to tighten up against Hibs (and no lapses in concentration from anyone).

People go on about how strong Hibs midfield is but I actually feel we have a good chance of a battling win for this; Kyle will break them up a bit as will Hippolyte; Keaghan and Pittman will run at them and O'Brien should be a steadying force (no slack back-passes please).

Hibs defence is quite tall and mobile as I recall so Mullens shouldn't start but could come on when they tire; White is probably the best option; Sekajja also suffers from lack of height so probably won't feature.

Would love us to keep a clean sheet for this one but have to assume that they will score at least one; on that basis am hoping that we score more; Hibs have been leaking goals and have shown themselves particularly vulnerable to crosses so Hippolyte's long throws should be a real bonus.

Bad for us getting Cole sent off, will that be him out for our last 2 games? We should appeal the first booking but prob aren't allowed to because it was a yellow, fecking joke getting a card for the ball hitting his hand from point blank range.

Cracking goal by Hippo and yet again we concede within a couple of minutes of getting ourselves back in the game, arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!

Didn't think it was a penalty either but DJ saved it anyway. Pretty poor defending for all their goals though which is annoying. Also don't know why we didn't sub White for Sekajja right at the start of the 2nd half, we needed his mobility up front, just wasn't suited to White.

Anyhoo that's that game out of the way so now down to the nitty gritty and the Raith game, a win there with Hearts and Hibs beating Cowden and Alloa and it's adv Livi going into the last league game against QoS. Lets get that win.

Cole's first yellow was never a yellow card, there is no way that he could have got his hand out the way from point blank range! In the replay the hand ball was in the box but the ref gave a free kick... Then the pen he gave in the second half never a penalty, the ref had a shocker and we have had to say that a lot this season!

Hippos goal was a screamer! We missed talbot and keags tonight, anybody know why they were missing?

Saturday is a must win for the team and I hope that this does not knock the confidence, we need to get out in numbers on Saturday and support them!!

Think Talbot was suspended for this one.

We did fairly well all things considered. Hibs were the better side & got the lucky bounce in the box for their 2nd & 3rd that they didn't get in the cup match at the weekend. That said we could have done with some protection from the officials on occasions & got nothing while they got all the major decisions. At the wrong end of the field to see the first Cole booking but I didn't think it merited a free kick let alone a booking.

DJ looked slow (again) at the first goal but yet another superb pen save (justice done there as it was never a pen).

Superb strike from Hippo for our goal.

They seemed to get away with pulling, pushing, barging, handling, wrestling etc etc etc.

I thought Kyle was immense throughout.

Cole'll only miss Saturday's game, LF. Only one game for two yellows. I know Talbot was suspended tonight and Keaghan must've been injured.

Infuriating tonight, in a sense. Undoubtedly they were the better side but I think with 11 men for the whole game we would've made a better fist of it, and probably would've got a point I think. Three shite goals conceded, I thought DJ was slow to get down again for the first, second one is just poor defending all round, especially so soon after scoring, and the third is just pish. Tremendous goal by Hippo and like the Rangers game if we'd seen out the 15-20 minute period after the goal I think we'd have settled better and built on it. I can't fault the players effort though, and realistically speaking I wasn't expecting much from the game, but I thought Hibs were fairly shite throughout and laboured to it in the second half. Can't see them going up, too many average players compared to the Premiership sides.

Silly challenge from Cole for the sending off, irregardless of whether his first booking was one or not, he should know better. Big loss for Saturday, him and Gallagher have been pretty solid. Think we'll still be pretty solid with Talbot back in, and Fordyce probably moved to CB. Absolutely must-win though, and the players know that. Fans need to turn up in numbers and get the atmosphere going like at the cup final and at Cowden, I think we'll do it.

ETA: Just saw Bertie's post, agree with you that Kyle was immense throughout, both in midfield and at centre half. MoTM for me.

Aye, if I'm honest I had a bad feeling about tonight as soon as I saw Talbs and Keags in the stand. We missed both players big time, and I felt without Keags in the middle of the park we resorted to lumping a few long balls up the park instead, which was bad to watch. Fordyce had a bit of a shocker, but in all fairness he was out of position and despite playing well of late, he's an extremely limited player. Talbot's physicality was clearly missing too and they hurt us quite a lot down that side - we'll need him back on Saturday.

We did well to contain them after going down to 10 men, and at 2-1 we were always in it, despite being largely outplayed, but Malonga's goal was a touch of class from a player who I think is a cut above at this level.

Cole will be a big miss on Saturday, but I've gotta say lads: Declan Gallagher is fucking class. What a player he is, I can't remember seeing him make any errors in months, he just looks so classy and flawless on the ball it's unreal. He puts you at ease so much whenever he has it, you know he's gonna make the right pass, or clear it from danger. A very intelligent defender who I'll be very sad to see go, because regardless of what division we're in, he'll be off - he's an SPL player. If he doesn't win our POTY award it'll be an absolute disgrace. The cult hero's among the fans seem to diddies like Sekajja and Boulding, and whilst not a diddy - Hippolyte (utter fanny for not celebrating his goal), but Gallagher is the real deal. The best player in our squad by a million miles. I would not sell him for £100,000.

Aye I saw that on bbc alba when I got home, had a quick ff through to Hippo's goal and Cole's first booking and saw he was inside the box when it hit his hand. Still was never a booking as he drew his hand in and tried to turn away from the ball but it was hit from a couple of feet away. Ref was a clown.

Wouldn't blame DJ for the first goal as it was well placed but he slipped taking the free kick and the ball ended up going to a Hibs player which resulted in their 3rd goal as he was on the back foot getting back into his goal and made it easier for them to score.

Lexi, I'm pretty sure Malongas goal took a nick on its way past Jamieson. As far as him being a cut above and worthy of a higher level - he'd fit in well amongst some of the utter dross that masquerade as strikers in the Scottish Premiership, so in that respect I agree. Fraser Fyvie on the other hand - there's a cracking player.

I just felt we were never really in it last night. Looked to me like we gave Hibs too much respect - we stood off them way too often and won very few second balls. We absolutely missed Keaghan in the middle.

I feel it's unfair to single him out, but I hope Donaldson can get a full pre season behind him in the summer. He looked out of his depth last night, although as I say, he'll look more than a tad ring rusty if his first start of the season is after Easter.

Hippolytes goal was terrific, but he pondered too much for my liking.

6 from 6 will keep us up. Let's fucking get them.
