Playoffs Beckoning.
Whithout seeming to have givin up the ghost here, which trust me i havent.I happened to watch the Pet cup final yesterday and regardless of the result i saw enough to suggest that if both us and Peterhead negociate our way to the the playoff final they could cause us real problems. At both our levels they have players who could hurt us and as opposed to us they have a decent manager in their dugout.Yes i know we have a decent record against them but i reckon they will come at us with a winning mentality rather than the defeatist attitude we seem to have embedded in ourselves.Of course this is all in hindsight should we do the unthinkable and Dumbarton have a complete meltdown then i suggest you totally ignore this post and excuse me while i search for some humble pie to consume after a visit to my psychiatrist .!!

Re: Playoffs Beckoning.
If we lose in the play-offs there'll be a lot of anger in the stands after the final match of the season, whether some of our fans like it or not.
Being relegated this season would be beyond unacceptable.

Totally agree with you Lexi. Theres already been a lot of anger in the stands this season. Some of my workmates who support other teams say it would maybe benefit Livi dropping down for a season or two but i beg to differ. The very exsistance of the club could be in jeapordy here.People need to wake up and realise the severity of this situation.Desperate times indeed but were used to them by now.

Re: Playoffs Beckoning.
Was fun winning games and back to back promotions but it put us up to our ears in debt. Doubt we'd recover from relegation, we can barely survive in this league with a hell of a lot more money in it than League One.
If it was as simple as finding our level and bringing through youth players then i'd be all for it, but the basket case of a club that is Livingston FC is nowhere near stable enough to take relegation. We better hope we can put together a couple of wins and Dumbarton lose their next 3 games.

Re: Playoffs Beckoning.
A couple of wins (assuming you mean 2 wins & a loss in our last 3 games) would put us 4 points ahead of Dumbarton if they lose their next 3; they would still have 2 other games to get 4 points with one of those games against Alloa.
Our record against Peterhead isn't that great at Balmoor; we rarely score there & have been pummelled there at least once.
Alloa stayed up last season despite a woeful series of results in the home stretch, they were far better than the lower division sides in the play offs. That said Peterhead look stronger than last season's play off sides, as do Ayr.

I'm well aware of how many games they have but if they win any of their next 3 then we're cream crackered. Need them to lose the two they play before we play QoS for us to still be in with a chance of 8th, then lose their next game and us beating QoS for us to get ahead of them and at least put some pressure on them.

Re: Playoffs Beckoning.
Bertie last time we played Peterhead and I was there this season
We won easily
Time for everybody to calm down
If and that's if we are in the playoff then we will stay up
We have better players and and have a better team than all the rest and we have been playing decent recently
Shore up the defence and we are ok

Re: Playoffs Beckoning.
I know what you're saying LF but I'm simply pointing out that even if they lose the three games you're talking about (and they are currently beating QoS which basically knackers us by your assessment) they could still win their last two anyway (I said 4 points earlier, I meant 6 as our GD is better) knackering us regardless.
I think we need at least 6 points to have a chance of staying up and as things stand I can't see that happening.
Smithy, Last time we played Peterhead (3-1 win in a cup this season I believe), Peterhead were mid table now they are clear in second, their form has improved and stayed good. We on the other hand have not gotten much better if we have improved at all and if you think we have been playing decent recently then you are not watching the same team as me. 11 points from 18 was a good run but 1 from 9 is appalling
Edit to update that QoS have equalised.

Re: Playoffs Beckoning.
I'm just looking for us to get to the last 2 games and still be in with a chance, and to do that we need my scenario to happen.
Dumbarton scored in the 4th min but Beany levels, he just loves scoring against Dumbarton, mon Beany you goal machine, get another one.

2-1 QoS, now Dumbarton fans know what we felt like in our last two games.
2-2 with another early goal for Dumbarton, QoS slow to start both halves.

Re: Playoffs Beckoning.
According to Sky Sports app Beanie is not playing or on the bench, Ryan Russell apparently scored it.
It's now 1-2 thanks to Harris ..... Mon the Doonhamers!!
They only know the feeling of leading then falling behind, they aren't beaten yet.

Mon to grip Queens, even a draw would do us as we have a better GD if we can get level with them.

Re: Playoffs Beckoning.
Yep, Dumbarton have come up against a Queens side that is safe & doesn't care...bet they care when they play us tho
5 point gap & they still have Alloa to play on the last day so assume its 8 points; so we need 9 points from our last 3 games cause we can't get 8; and how long has it been since we won 3 in a row?
I'd say we are in the play offs for certain.
That being the case, we should be able to throw off the shackles & play with no pressure for the last 3 games which might be enough to get us going for the play offs

Trouble is I think there's a bit of a gap between our last league game and the last round of the play-offs - plus how many of our players will be out of contract?
Play-off are mid-week arent they - Stranraer; Ayr or Peterhead are hardly ideal for a wet Tuesday evening

Re: Playoffs Beckoning.
There is a two week gap between the last league game, 1st May, and the last play off game, 15th May. That is of course dependant on us getting through the first round of the play offs.
I would have thought that contracts would have something in them relating to the possibility of play offs. But what do I know?!

Re: Playoffs Beckoning.
The gap between end of season and the play off final is irrelevant at our level Durnford, as our play offs aren't stacked in favour of the team in danger of relegation like the premier division's is.
We will have to play a 2 leg semi against the team that finishes 4th (probably Stranraer or Albion) and then a 2 leg final against Peterhead or Ayr
Weren't most of our guys given 2 year deals when the embargo was lifted? And if not surely whoever negotiated the deals had the basic common sense to include May in the deal?

Hopefully Albion or even Airdrie make it ahead of Stranraer, don't fancy a trip down there on a Wednesday night.

Re: Playoffs Beckoning.
Looking at the remaining fixtures, Airdrie have the toughest solely based on league positions, plus they're six points behind Stranraer so I'd rule them out. Otherwise, I think Albion have got the more difficult fixtures since Dunfermline have already wrapped up the league, Stranraer have everything to play for plus home advantage. I haven't looked at the form between these lot but it would be interesting to see that too.
Stranraer - Dunfermline (H); Brechin (A); Cowdenbeath (H)
Albion - Cowdenbeath (H); Forfar (H); Stenhousemuir (A)
Airdrie - Forfar (A); Dunfermline (H); Ayr (A)
Points are going to be dropped all over the place in these fixtures but ideally, simply to avoid the 'mare of going to Stranraer, Albion come out on top.

Re: Playoffs Beckoning.
Is Gary Bollan still in charge of Airdrie? Certainly be one to avoid if true albeit the only one I could feasibly make mid-week.
