LF I think you'll find more of the U20's got thru a round than just Celtic

Thought that was the first round they'd just played, just had a look and there was some right dross in the first round though, and still most of them went out.

I'm not disagreeing with you on their inclusion which I agree is wrong but was merely pointing out you hadn't got your facts quite right. I highlighted the Thistle score as that was the one that took me by surprise.

By all accounts Clyde and QP played their own U20's/fringe players in both games; read into that what you will.

Interesting. Perhaps both clubs share LF's distaste for this tournie.
While I agree the. U20's shouldn't be in it, I want us to play a strong side and spank the living daylights out of them

Re: Irn Bru Cup
Not saying we should deliberately try and get knocked out but I don't think we should field our strongest eleven when there is an important league game against our strongest rival for promotion up next.
It's an ideal game for fringe players like like Orr and Allan, as well as Watt, Currie, Sinclair, Neill, Knox (if he's still here) Carrick (if he's back and needing games for fitness), and the rest of our younger players in the squad that aren't getting games in the first team yet.
Could even stick some of the first choice players on the bench if Hopkin decided we needed them in the 2nd half to win the game.

Re: Irn Bru Cup
What I find really annoying is that Livingston, a team who won this competition just over a year ago, who've made the final of this competition twice and have given 73 years to Scottish football, enter in the round before teams from Ireland and Wales - who give very very little to football in their own nations, never mind ours.
The SFA couldn't bam us up any more if they tried. Fucking c****.

Re: Irn Bru Cup
Safe to say I wont be going to that game, Peterheid and Brechin is too far for me to travel.
Don't know anything about them so no idea how difficult or easy this game will be.
Just done a quick check on google and see they are top of their league, so should be a good test for us.

If the game's on the Sunday and I can be arsed and find the travel at a reasonable price, I might go.
Otherwise it's Twitter updates and the Scotland game for me.

If it's Saturday and on a 3pm, it's a goer for me. Can get the ferry there and back in a day as a foot passenger for £25 return, ideal. Just need to drive to Stranraer very early doors and very late at night, though...
Anything else and it's unlikely. Worth noting Northern Ireland are at home on the Saturday at 7.45, also in Belfast.

Can imagine BBC Alba will get an all Scottish tie, S4C will take a Welsh team and Premier Sports will choose between our fixture and Queen of the South vs. Linfield.

Re: Irn Bru Cup
If it was on Premier Sports I wonder if they'd subscribe to it down at the stadium and open up the AS for Livi fans to go down and watch it, get it advertised and they'd surely get plenty punters through the door and make a few quid from the sale of food and drink.

Gutted this cup is always the same weekend as internationals, would've been good to have a trip to Ireland!

Crap! Bang goes the chance of me making the game - what a stupid time for a game; no returning ferries until the next day? No chance

Re: Irn Bru Cup
It's completely stupid. I would have undoubtedly gone on a weekend but they're taking the piss with people having to take time off work to make the game when hardly anyone is going to watch. Any other TV time would have been annoying but fine, this one just really fucked the fans.

Wahey we've got TNS at home now.
Celtic Colts, Crusaders, TNS, we're like a magnet to these Irn Bru Cup interlopers.

Re: Irn Bru Cup
Not wanting to sound too cocky here, but we've got to be fancying our chances here. Granted, they're FT and regularly horse every other team in the WPL, but they struggled to break down Forfar by all accounts.
I'd have fancied us against anyone at home so that's a bonus, too.

Re: Irn Bru Cup
At least we've seen them play an SPFL team to gauge how good they are, don't think we've anything to fear from them, was hoping we'd get them too.
If we lose i'll take the blame for jinxing us, didn't go to the colts game and watched the Crusaders game at the stadium, so this will be the firs Irn Bru game I attend.

Hope we pump this crowd, very arrogant on their twitter feeds. Banging on about what a great victory they achieved against a part time league 2 side. They are full time and year in year out dominate their league.

Re: Irn Bru Cup
Can't disagree with that, plenty on Twitter (looks like journalists) saying they fancy their chances against us too.
I hope we absolutely hammer them. Like LF this'll be the first Irn Bru Cup game I'll be at, so we'll probably lose.

Re: Irn Bru Cup
Well we're a step up from Forfar so they'll be in for a shock if they think it's going to be easy against us.
