Barry Wilson Interview Empty Barry Wilson Interview

The guys on Tell Him He's Pele have published a really interesting interview with Barry Wilson about our Division 1 title winning season. Really interesting for me as I wasn't a fan during that time but I'm sure the diehards will appreciate the anecdotes more so. Some brilliantly sourced articles from Dave Stoker as well. Embarrassing to compare the standard of journalism in the Championship now to then.

    You can read it here.

Iirc McCaldon was injured too and had to take a pain killing injection to play against Hibs in that semi final, think big Marv was carrying an injury and wasn't 100% either.

Raith fans have never forgiven us for taking their 3 best players off them after gubbing us 4-0, but as has been said there, we didn't twist their arm up their back. I didn't know it was actually them that approached us though, to get their wage bill down.

Airdrie going down the tubes was a stroke of good fortune, not for that season as we'd have won the league anyway, but having Fernandez and Broto for the SPL def had a major hand in getting us 3rd place. Really amusing sticking it right up the media and pundits that said we were relegation favourites and kept on saying our bubble would burst all season, GIRFUY to the lot of them. Very Happy

It's a really interesting piece, no doubt about it. The guys at THHP put most of the guys in the print media to shame with their analysis and coverage of the game.

I knew that it was Raith who had approached us due to their money worries but I always thought that we had paid £100,000 for the three players. If I was a Raith fan I would have been raging too when I found out that their wages for the rest of the season was included in that amount. It really was the bargain buy of the decade.  Laughing

Yep, they're really well informed and do a very good job in putting down a fair minded piece, no matter which team it is they're writing about. Their reports on each team pre, during and post season are the best I've read from anywhere.

The great thing about THHP is that the writers WANT to discuss and write topics about the lower leagues of Scottish football. Those who regularly write in the print media only do it because they have to.
