Livi v Brechin Empty Livi v Brechin

This is the weakest Brechin have looked all season so we should beat them, but then again anything can happen in games where Livi are concerned.

Looking forward to seeing Millar and Keaghan playing, Keaghan shoud give us some extra bite in midfield and was always good at breaking up the pitch with the ball. Millar looked excellent at taking set pieces and with the tall CB's we have we should be a threat from corners and free kicks put into the box.

Hopefully we stick to passing the ball up the pitch and play to our strengths, so Buchanan and Mullen get some decent service. Fancy us to score a few goals in this game, Brechin are a team we score goals against so here goes, 4-0 Livi FG 12 mins.

I admire your optimism, I really do.

Our home form has dipped significantly and we are dropping points and losing to teams we should beat. We have an excellent record against the better sides but if Brechin are at their weakest then that makes them dangerous due to our unerring capacity to struggle against weak sides.

The so called weaker sides have all beaten Brechin and Airdrie too, prob Alloa as well (haven't got the urge to check), East Fife and QP are actually the form teams just now and could push Brechin and Airdrie out of the top 4.
Maybe we'd beat them if they do with us playing better against the top 4 teams. Laughing

Anyway with Millar and Keaghan playing it gives us a boost, Millar is 1 win for one game so far.

Really looking forward to seeing how the midfield conundrum is solved with Millar and Jacobs available. Someone's going to have to drop out for one of them, maybe both Byrne and Pittman if the pair of them are starting.

Either way, we usually do well against teams around about the top so 2-0 Livi, FG 28 mins.

I wouldn't throw Jacobs into starting just yet. We've got plenty of options so there's no rush. He can easily be an impact sub for the next 2/3 games. If we take control of the game with a strong midfield like we did in the 3-0 win at their ground, then we'll win this without needing the route one stuff:

    Kelly

    Crighton Halkett Gallagher Longridge

    Millar Byrne

    Mullin Pittman Cadden

    Buchanan

Having Mullen, Jacobs and De Vita on the bench to change the game will be massive if needed.

    3-1 Livingston. FG 38 mins.

Was a bit worried when i saw all that frost this morning but thankfully it seems to have subsided. To the match itself we surely must continue to hammer home the advantage we have at the moment but wont be easy against a resolute Brechin side who will be trying to consolidate their play off hopes,It seems that being at home doesent give us a perticular advantage these days so il keepmy mouth shut on that one.Not sure about the one up front scenario L/Cub as your putting more on the midfield to chip in more than their used to although granted Buchs will run his preverbial soks off.Any kind of win will do me and i expect a response after last week.Do it Livi!!!

Excellent start, Brechin came back into it without really threatening to score. Second goal seemed to flatten them. Second half we were all over them. Should really have won by more but 3-0 will do especially coupled with the rest of the results.

De Vita should be used as he was today, fresh legs against a tiring side.

All in all a decent performance and a management team making decent use of the bench.

De Vita is far better than being used as a bit part player coming on in league one. Slightly scary that 4 CBs worked again today, it will make Hopkin think he has cracked it, when infact, against a better side we will get torn apart. Todorov didnt show muxh, but in general none of our team had to show much to beat them. They were very poor.

A bit pissed off we didn't get a 4th goal.

    lol!

Comfortable win and a nice relaxing afternoon for a change, the early goal settled us down but it was a bit frantic and scrappy, nice to get the 2nd goal before HT too though and maybe should've had a 3rd.

Lovely passage of play leading up to our 3rd goal, esp on our tattie field of a pitch. After that we passed it about well and when Rafa came on I was bursting for him to get a goal, not just to get my prediction right, I thought he deserved it for the effort he put in. Much better looking playing as a striker. Thought Todorov did ok, came on against a very physical team and gave as good as he got. Kudos to Millar for putting Love (their no11) into the puddle, cheating wee git deserved it after his antics all game.

Very pleasing seeing other results going our way too and extending our lead to 11 points, with a game in hand.

Well it was easy in the end in spite of them being physical brutes and the referee not appearing to notice that fact till well into the game.

I agree but his appearance as a sub striker today was arguably the most effective I've seen from him since his return. Using him sparingly as the opposition tire gives him more opportunities to make them look a class beneath him.

Brechin seem to be dropping out of the promotion challenge and if they keep up this "form" they will drop out of the play off race before too much longer, Peterhead are 8th and only 3 points behind them.

Take us out of it and the league would be really competitive, only 3 points separating 5 team from 4th place to 8th, and only another 3 points to Alloa in 2nd place. Thank goodness we're well out in front ahead of the pack.

The good thing is they're all taking points from each other and even when we lost nobody was closing the gap on us.

That's two goals from centre back's in our last 2 league games where Millar put in the delivery, he's made a big difference to our team with his quality from set pieces.

Seems like ages since ive seen Livi virtualy dominate a game from start to finish.Even when they were three up they were still going for it right to the end.Another magnificant display from Pitman again and i also thought big Declan strolled through this game.As has already been said other results went our way again yesterday and it seems that the other teams are determined to hand the title to us on a plate. My only concern yesterday was the state of the pitch.Understandable after the horrendous weather weve had recently and is certainly not condusive to free flowing football on that surface. That aside a super display from the Lions and a more than deserved 3 points yesterday.Well done and onwards to Alloa next week!

The SPFL are determined that Craig Halkett's still playing at RB, isn't enough that they had him at RB a couple of weeks back against Peterheid, they're sticking him in there for their SPFL team of the week against Brechin. Laughing
