Celtic out of the Champions League

No surprises really. The squad itself needs changing in order to meet Deila's philosophy and challenge further in the competition next season. Forster and Van Dijk will probably leave to accomodate the loss of revenue from the group games. Neil Lennon will probably have the biggest, ugliest smug look on his face because he knew that squad wasn't capable of competing through three rounds to qualify for the group stages.

Usually want all Scottish teams to do well in Europe but not too bothered because it's Celtic. Hope their fans get brought back down to earth with just how mediocre their team is compared to the rest of Europe.

Shows how shite the SPFL Premiership is when a mediocre Celtic walk it every season. All about money and Scotland just doesn't get enough to compete in Europe, and the little they do get doesn't get shared around fairly to make it a competitive top league.

I wish ill on Celtic in Europe purely to even it up as much as possible for the other Premiership teams*. The CL is a joke anyway, 4 teams from the cash rich Countries are in it and poor footballing nations have to play 3 rounds to qualify. Money talks, it should be rebranded to the rich greedy barstewards league of nations.

*Though they are just as bad not giving a flying feck about the other 30 teams in the SPFL.

I was too young when it happened, but could you imagine the state of Scottish football if Fergus McCann never came in and rescued Celtic? Add that up with the eventual demise of Rangers and who knows where we'd be in terms of competitiveness on and off the pitch.

I think Deila will end up like Mowbray. Absolutely hilarious when he said it was a disgrace that they had to go through so many qualifiers despite their "quality".

Prob better than we are now.

The liquidation of Rangers has been great for Scottish lower league football, we wouldn't have the extra cash in the Championship or the play offs if they were still existing in their former guise.

The OF has had all the power for decades too, with Rangers no longer in the top flight that was broken and the voting system is no longer in their favour.

Both of them have bleed Scottish football dry leaving us to feed off scraps. Best thing for the game up here would be if they both piss off to another league somewhere else.

St. Johnstone 1-0 up in Slovakia at half-time. Could have multiple representation in the play-off round, if they get another and don't concede. Aberdeen start their home leg against Sociedad soon, 2-0 down.

Aberdeen have just went 2-1 up at Pittodrie but they're still losing 3-2 on aggregate. They'll need to score more than 1 though or they'll still be out because of the away goals rule.

Legia Warsaw being investigated for fielding an ineligible player - a sub who came on and played 2 minutes.

Maybe the Celtic board are right, and you CAN progress in the Champions League without spending any money.

You couldn't write it with Celtic. It's not the first time they've been given a lifeline in European football because of an ineligible player.

Don't really have a lot of sympathy for Legia even though Debrecen got away with a £10k fine for a similar offence in 2010. Celtic are very lucky and now guaranteed European football until Christmas.

Legia have asked UEFA for their reasoning and have 5 days to appeal it if they want to, it's unlikely but Celtic might still be punted to the Europa League play offs rather than the Champions League ones.

I noticed that it's Maribor they're against too, same team that put Rangers out of the Europa League 3 years ago.

Seems very odd that Legia played a guy that was supposedly banned for 3 matches after a red card last season for the last couple of minutes of a match they had won comfortably.

almost like they were trying to get themselves knocked out on a technicality.

Could there be a scandal lurking in the deep recesses of this story?
