Should be a decent game, another that will ease us into playing in the Championship. QP didn't look like they press teams, not coming out of defence anyway, and i think we'll get to play how we want against them. Their defence and keeper looked shaky against Falkirk too, so i think we'll score a couple of three against them.

They did scored a worldy against Falkirk though, and banged in quite a few in their group games, so should be a good test for our up till now solid defence. Really looking forward to this.

Mon the Lions, lets make this 2 wins on the trot and 6pts. cheers bounce

I was looking forward to it until our tickets sold out too quick for me to get a couple. Rolling Eyes
    Who’d have thunk it.

Anyway, if we have any aspirations of bouncing straight back we need to be winning this. That said, a draw away from home is always acceptable.

Reasonably confident of getting a result here.Suspect Queens will be a sterner test than last week against a poor Pars side.Agreed if weve any aspirations of challenging at the top, these are the games we should be aiming for 3 points.Wont be there, but will await good news from the updates.Mon the Lions.👊🕷🦁👍.

Think in the Championship we need to be aiming to take 3pts from every team, but every team is capable of taking pts off everyone else too, there's no stand out team that will walk it.

It's no a one/two horse race financially doped fixed/borefest like the Premiership. Best anyone can hope for in the top flight is one of the erse cheeks severely underperforms enough for one of the diddy clubs to split them coming 2nd, but there's in no way they'll both suffer poor enough seasons for any diddy to win the league. Last time any came close was Hearts blowing it in the final league game 38 years ago.

Wasn't there,so hard to give honest critique.Sounded like a game of two halves from what I've heard.Although apparently Queen's fans were relieved to hear the final whistle .Possibly tells the story.Hopefully L/F,who i know was there will give us a better idea of the game as a whole.Yeh,Ayr were rampant against a poor Airdrie tonight, and even this early might take some stopping.Early doors though.🤷‍.

Was out all day yesterday and not been on the t'internet much, posted my feeling on P&B after the game but have had a bit more time to reflect on it now.

Game itself went something like the Pars game, lack of intensity first half, though started well enough having possession and knocking the ball about without doing much in the final third. Too many diagonal balls instead of pushing to the byeline and getting balls across their box. QP looked much more direct going forward with purpose and got their reward, could see it coming as they grew into the game with their forages into our half.

2nd half, again much better from us, upped our intensity and directness, particularly when Sole came on, we finally had a player running at them and taking players on, once Kelly swapped positions to the left wing with Shinnie subbed off we were even better, Shinnie just isn't a winger and wont take players on, hasn't the pace to get past them either. Also would like to see Sole and Muirhead starting together, instead of one coming off for the other coming on. And either Green or Lawal starting games, both positive players that want to get the ball forward.

My criticism is we are far too ponderous first half and easy to defend against, sideways and back, slowly going forward. The likes of Green's first instinct is going forward, we had Muirhead making runs, but the players on the ball never once made an instinctive pass looking for him, it was always safety first and turning back. QP on the other hand made those forward passes down the channels without even looking up, knowing a player was making the run down the wing.

Maybe that will come in time for us when players have gelled, gotten to know one another and our link up play will flow better, hope so.

Martindale also saying players from down South or the Irish leagues aren't yet up to speed with our game, and Green isn't yet fit to play 90 mins, so again, hopefully once he's fully fit and getting regular starts we'll see big improvements on our play. There are def signs we've good players, and once everyone is playing regularly and in sync with one another we'll have a good looking team.

My main concern is i've lost confidence in Martindale playing the strongest XI and using those players to get the best out of them, if he does then i think we'll be right up there challenging for the title, that's a big if though, we'll see.

Oh and one of these games we'll see the ball go flying into their net, instead of hitting the woodwork, the amount of times we've hit the post and bar these last few games is unreal. Kelly against QP, Muirhead against the Pars, and a couple of times against Spartans.

Yeah Muirhead isn't afraid to have a shot at goal, but where he's played it's him that's crossing the ball into the box, rather than being in there on the end of it. But when Sole is playing, Muirhead would get the chance to get himself in and around the box from a Sole ball in. Problem is they aren't getting the chance to start together, Muirhead was suspended in our opening game against the Pars, and Sole took a knock in that game, which looks like why he wasn't starting this game, and came on for the last 20 mins. Just a pity Muirhead was then subbed off.

Muirhead is the closest thing we have to an out and out goal scorer, based on his record at Morton the last 2 seasons. Yengi is decent at getting the ball and running at them, when he actually gets the chance, and not played as a target man for high balls, but he isn't much of a goal scorer. Kelly might bag a good few though, and Sole will prob get 7 or 8, maybe even see Pitts knocking in a few, need to be getting the service into the box though. Which at the minute, only Sole is providing.
