Post by Smithy Tue Apr 07, 2015 10:44 pm

As you know I'm a statto and I've just checked up on all the results as my gut feeling was Burchy has not done any better than McGlynn and the facts Confirm this.

McGlynn was sacked after 16 league games

    WON 3
    DRAW 3
    LOST 10

He was also sacked the game after our 5-1 game v Raith and our opponents were Falkirk at the Vale when we lost 1-0

He achieved 25% of the points available.

Burchill has been in charge for 14 games

    WON 1
    DRAW 4
    LOST 9

He has achieved only 16.66 % of the points available

If we lose to Falkirk that will reduce to 15.5% of points available.

i wouldn't trust him to be in charge for the rest of the season if we lose to Falkirk, he is no better than McGlynn in fact he is worse.

Win or bust tomorrow For the manager.

Winning the cup has bought him time. We won't sack him before the end of the season & he may still be here next season. However, if there is a change of ownership then they may have different ideas.

Can't see us punting another manager and having to pay compo out.

Rankine will hopefully be away soon before we get hit with another punishment and doubt he's bothered what division the team will be in. All about getting as much as he can before he goes.

Moot point but didn't McGlynn walk rather than be sacked?

well the story was mutual consent which covers a multitude of sins really. So something must have happened to end with his departure.

Should start another one of these threads on Saturday, Smithy. Maybe we'll pull another win out the bag.  Cool

Congrats to Burchill for getting the right formula and firing up the players to win a cup and beat Scottish Cup semi-finalists all in the space of four days. Some turnaround, like. I've been critical of the guy but we're on a good path the now, a win on Saturday and I reckon we'll stay up.

    Updated after Falkirk game
    And congrats on the win
    WON 2
    DRAW 4
    LOST 9

15 league games in charge, achieved 22.22% of points available.

BUT he is still under achieving compared to McGlynn.
Needs to win at Cowdenbeath to have a better record than McGlynn.

McGlynn's been around and has managed a few clubs, Burchill is a rookie and will make mistake. If he can keep us up then he deserves a lot of credit. Hopefully he's learnt a few things from those defeats and can go on to being a good manager, esp for us.

    Updated after Cowdenbeath game

    Won 3
    Draw 4
    Lose 9

Total league games in charge 16 each,so fair and square comparison

13 points out of 48 for Burchy
12 points out of 48 for McGlynn

McGlynn won 25% of points available
Burchy has won 27% of points available

So well done to Burchy one point better off than McGlynn so it's quite correct to say slightly better job done by Burchy than McGlynn.

Couple more wins this month and he's on for the MoTM award. Loving all those greens on the OS Fixtures & Results page. Laughing

Not used to seeing so many greens so close together. First time this season we've won 2 league games on the bounce and I saw somewhere that this is the first time since March 2011 that we've won 3 competitive games in a row.

Didn't think it sounded right either so had a look when I read it, we've had unbeaten runs but the last time we won 3 games in a row was in the 2nd division when we won 7 in a row in Feb/March; Alloa 4-0, Forfar 3-0, Dumbarton 3-0, Stenhousemuir 2-1, Forfar 4-0, East Fife 3-1, Peterhead 5-1. We even went unbeaten for the rest of the season too, drawing 3 and winning the other 4.

14 points gained from a possible 54 which is a 25.9% points gain rate. Only marginally better than John McGlynn ratio of 25% when we parted company with him.

Won 4 (incl a cup final)
    Drawn 1
    Lost 1

And off the bottom of the table. cheers

James Fowler won MoTM for April, very good month for Queens too with 4 wins and a draw, incl beating Hibs and Sevco.

Shame as Burchill deserves some acknowledgement for our incredible run in April and continuing into May to secure 8th place.

Hopefully that acknowledgement will include a renewal of his contract - feel the young man has learnt a lot over the past couple of months.

I'm sure I saw a few days ago that the board wanted Burchill next season regardless of the division we were in, will be very surprised if he doesn't get his contract renewed.
