Kept Livi up and won a cup, but he had to go.

Had to google it after seeing chat on P&B as nothing on our OS or bbc website.

Was willing to give him time up till this month but the terrible results in our last two games and his tactics & lack of subs brought this down on him, just frustrating to watch.

Tell me David Hopkins isn't taking over, need a clean break from appointing assistants, want someone with new ideas in who will get the best out of the players and get us back to playing football how we do it best, quick passing, hitting teams on the counter with pacey wingers.

Was just about to edit my post to add that.

Have a feeling we'll go for the cheap option and give it to Hopkins with someone else already at the club becoming his assistant.

It must surely have been on the cards after the Alloa debacle and inevitable after Saturday's tactical blunders.

I genuinely feel for Mark, he did his best in very trying circumstances especially last season but it was clear that things had just shuddered to a halt and changes need to be made.

Agree that Hopkins is not the answer so please, No coronation.

I always liked Danny Lennon and wouldn't rule him out. Experienced and did a good job with St Mirren. Was treated harshly in my opinion by them.

He was on a certain loser with Alloa so maybe with the better players we've got he might just be the answer.

    We shall see.

Its on the official site as breaking news...relieved of managerial duties with immediate effect; on gardening leave for the remainder of his contract

Ian Murray would be my choice despite St Mirren's poor start....that said with Burchill getting paid monthly, I can't see anyone coming in from the outside even if they are currently unemployed

Have to say I'm pretty gutted, I think given some more time he would have turned it around this season, although the lack of substitutions on Saturday was pretty staggering.

Where else are we going to get a guy in a suit, hate a tracky manager.

I'm not sure how I feel even though I suggested it earlier today. I heard some horrendous stories about the attitude of Burchill and his relationship with the players recently so that has probably pushed me to a point where I'm not disappointed by this. As was said, he did excellently at the end of last season but he looked very, very naive in recent games.

Ian Murray seems the logical choice given he'll still be getting paid by St. Mirren as well.

Lack of discipline and authority, very indecisive and celebrated in front of our fans in 2006.

A good day for our football club.

Once again were gonna be in the papers for all the wrong reasons. For what its worth i reckon Burchill has been pissing against a high wall for to long,Granted we get the odd good result but overall the buck stops with him.His tactical nievety beggars belief and Hopkins hasnt done sod all to help him through all this.I thank Burchy for his time at the club and being a local boy to boot, but i think his tennure had become unnattenable.Wish him well for the future. Now the rumour mill will go into overdrive.Personally Murray no,Lennon no, def not Hopkins .Heard somewhere Jimmy Calderwood is looking to get back into the game. Now wouldnt that be fun.

Davy Bingham, Barry Wilson, is big Marv interested in managing a football team? Has Iain Russell done any coaching badges, could have him as player manager. Liam Fox.  Laughing

We need Gary Bollan back. The club hasn't been in safe hands since he left. Forde has forked out to punt Burchill, he now needs to fork out a little more to get Bollan out of his Airdie contract and make amends for the previous regime's shoddy treatment of the man.

Bollan left Airdrie to join Forfar. Doubt he'd leave there after a day in charge, and I doubt he'll be in a hurry to come back to Livingston anyway.

Billy Reid? Currently an assistant in Sweden, but would imagine he'd be keen to get back into the game over here.

Why do you think Clelland would come back when he has a 100% record already and probably hasn't managed anywhere else.

My first choice would be Ian Murray. Overall he had the beating of us, I think he'd know what to do with our squad, I think he'd bring in the right players and I think he'd get the best out of guys like White and dare I say it: Hippolyte.

Wasn't saying he should, but his name is always one of the first to come up when we sack a manager.

Agreed. He worked wonders at Dumbarton and while his Paisley performance was poor I think he still has the nous to sort us out.

Also...well done on the club site getting the news out there but why has the club given no indication if who will take the team in the interim?

Don't think they know yet. Callum Carson who writes for the Courier said; Gordon Ford is offering David Hopkin the interim managers job until a replacement is found. Then he tweeted this later on:

    Callum Carson @CallumCarson34 4 hrs4 hours ago
Livingston haven't yet spoken to David Hopkin but will do tomorrow.
