League Cup St Mirren v Livi Empty League Cup 2nd Round

Post by LiviLion Sat Aug 01, 2015 8:04 pm

Assuming Sevco beat Peterhead, this is who we can get:

    Seeded Clubs

    Dundee
    Hamilton Academical
    Partick Thistle
    Ross County
    Kilmarnock
    Motherwell
    St. Mirren
    Heart of Midlothian
    Hibernian
    Sevco
    Queen of the South

If Sevco lose then they'll be replaced by Falkirk, draw is on Monday at 2:30.

Not going to matter much who we get out of that then, they're all tough draws. Hopefully we don't get QoS again, and really don't want RC away, quite fancy Hearts away though, would get a decent cut of the gate money and I like tynnie for a cup game.

Don't fancy our chances much against any of them...but maybe underdog will suit us

Good thing is our defence is a lot better this season and if we can scrap away in midfield we may scrape a draw, then I'd fancy our chances in a penalty shoot out.

Quite fancy Killie, having Boyd up front gives us a good chance of keeping a clean sheet too.

Killie is another ground I've no intention of going to unless it was like last season where I found myself going to Cowden due to our cup final win and fight back from relegation, the sheer importance of the game with the team needing our backing drew me into going.

Both Dundee grounds fall under that category for me too, though wouldn't mind Utd at home due to their lack of a goal threat after they sold all their best players to Celtic, would def give us a chance against them.

*Edit. Scratch that Utd aren't in the list of teams that were put up.

St Mirren away. Meh, decent chance of getting through, just means we're playing them at least 5 times this season.

Another team we'll be playing twice in the same week, both games against them are away from home too.

My first ever game was against St Mirren - November 1999, we lost 2-1 and they beat us to promotion that year. We must've only played them once or twice since then and now we're playing them twice in 4 days. Don't really fancy this, tbh. Mid-week, league cup, there'll be no atmosphere and we'll take about 12 fans. I reckon we'll get pumped as well, just strikes me as the kind of game we can't really be bothered with. Quite fancy going to the league game though, can see it being a tight affair having played them so recently.

Couldn't tell you much about St Mirren, they're probably not much better than us tbh.

Anything semi close to Glasgow Im into, being one of the few the trek from the West to see the team play. I've never been to their new park but it should be semi decent, it could have been worse we could have got Q.O.S again.. It gives us a chance.

Would have loved a Partick away or something though...

Suits me as well only a third of the distance to Livi, always used to go to Partick when they were in our League and miss those games. Not been to their ground so looking forward to it and hoping for a win. I might watch their game on 21st Aug on Alba to see how they set out their game.

You could do a dossier for Burchy, save him the trouble of going to watch them. jocolor

Nothing about this game yet so thought I'd get it started ( must be the disappointment after Saturday's game!)

Against my better judgement I've decided to go to this and the League game on Satrurday.
I'm hoping that Burchill rings the changes for this game and gets a settled team he will use for the league which has to be our priority and hopefully some good performances will bring back those missing fans.
I know everybody has a different view on the team but I'd like to see:-

    Gould (DJ's kicking was pretty bad Saturday}
    Millen Gordon Cole Longridge
Pittman (if fit) Faria Moses Glen
    White Sheerin

Buchanan, Mullen and Hippo as impact

We can only hope the team start playing together and keep the ball on the ground no more high balls, think ahead and move into empty spaces!

Might head to this game too, seem to be ok in cup comps, though might be a late drive home after ET & pens.

Not got any great expectations here just want us to get through and get a home tie in the next round.

    Mon the Lions.

Your right Lexi funny how I forgot him it might be that as he has sometimes been playing out of position and I was not impressed. That leaves me with a problem - ok replace Cole with him (maybe)

Seeing as it's a cup game for Livi tomorrow evening, I fully expect big Shagz White to pop home an extra-time winner.

Ken wit? Stick Neil in defence with Gordon, put Moses on the wing and play currie in defence. It's a cup game that no one can be arsed with, so why no give these guys a chance to prove themselves
