Livi v Morton

Really need to be getting a win here playing at home, def need to be starting with a higher tempo and getting stuck in about them in midfield. What I noticed having a look at their stats in their Alloa game was the amount of shots they take, 21 shots at goal, though only 4 were on target. Checked some of their other games and they're all pretty high for taking shots, so expecting them to take a pop whenever they get sight of our goal.

Is Mullen still suspended for this game?

As the old saying goes there's no easy games in this division so we'll have to work hard for a result, right attitude from the players and I think we'll win.

Hopefully their shots will be just as accurate as against Alloa or preferably poorer. But knowing our luck they will have found their range a give us a do-ing.

I remain downbeat despite our Paisley performances, I suspect they will sit in and hit us on the break.

Their main attacking threat against St Mirren appeared to be down the right wing with Bobby Barr.

Longridge should have enough speed to deal with the threat but cannot continue to wander into the middle as he did with St. Mirren leaving a huge gap on our left. Barr will continue to exploit that all day if he has the chance.

To counter I's consider three at the back and two wingbacks; after half time we could consider changing to a flat four at the back as we look at bringing on more attacking options as the game develops.

Provided Cole doesn't start giving the ball away cheaply again we should have enough to beat Morton - provided our guys can find their scoring boots. If you consider that the Falkirk goal was potentially an own goal (irrespective of the fact that it was chalked up to Danny Mullen) we have yet to score in open play in the league. We need to bring in some of the performance we've had in the cup; our guys have proved they can do it; maybe it was a confidence thing but now we've had a couple of good performances behind us who knows....

Totally different teams but we have had a stinking record against Morton at home in recent years since the first game that they actually won a point in.

Very important we keep up with the pack and win but I'm not sure how I'm feeling about the game at this stage.

Yes; even the season but last when they couldn't buy a point in the league and they always seemed to get them off us. Strangely we seemed to do quite well against them at Cappilow though.

Already a bit of a gap is opening up between us and Morton - three points on Saturday would close that to one point; a loss on the other-hand would be particularly bad news.

Dumbarton are at home to Alloa so must fancy them to take full points whilst Hibs aren't playing so losing would leave us five point behind Hibs but with them having a game in hand.

Hope Pittman and Mullen are ok to play, would be good if Millen was ok too and we had the same line up as our cup win against St Mirren. Best I've seen us play going forward and gave Buchanan better service too.

Thanks to EL I'm now getting quite nervous about this game. After this we have a succession of tough (or tougher) games.

Draw, 1-1. I think it'll be very tight and cagey between 2 evenly matched teams. If Bobby Barr is one of their main threats then it says it all about them - they ain't very good. Not sure how much game time Peter MacDonald gets for them, but he's a player who will cause us problems. If Mullen plays I think he'll score. Hopefully a back 4 of:

I would just like to point out that Lexi, despite being openly in love with White, has omitted him from the starting XI.

So well done Lexi for going with the form players (at least in terms of who is scoring)

Mullen got a two match ban. He missed the league game against St Mirren and the other one will be the next round of the cup.

That's good news, gives us another goal threat.

Even this early in the season we need to win and keep up with the rest of the teams. We saw how difficult it was to lift ourselves off the bottom last season even though we were miles ahead of teams like Cowdenbeath alloa raith and Dumbarton. A win here could boost our confidence so cmon lads!

How can you say we were miles ahead of Dumbarton? We struggled badly against them last season

Didn't in the first away game, played them off the park first half and paid the price for failing to convert chances into goals, then Kane came on and changed the game for them 2nd half.

Also should've beaten them at home but again fecked up with only scoring once this time when we should've had it stitched up at HT, then the lino making a wrong decision on Keaghan's goal being offside, and finally chucking it all away to lose 2-1.

Third game we finally well and truly trounced them 5-1.

Fourth game and yet again we should've bloody won it but yet again blew it and threw away the points in a late collapse.

Summed us up last season though, too many games where we didn't kill teams off and ended losing them.

So in terms of results they won 3 & we won 1....that constitutes struggling badly IMO; even if we played well in the games (which we didn't in the 2 home defeats, even if I agree that we should have been 2 up until the officials got it wrong, we ended up losing so responded badly to a. the decision & b. the equaliser). We certainly were miles ahead in the 5-1 game but the other 3? We lost them, we lost them badly because we should have been able to beat them ergo we struggled badly against them. Results are what matter.

Yes but results don't always tell the full story in how teams played, certainly not in our head to heads with Dumbarton. I'll concede we failed/struggled to score when we were the better team and allowed them a lifeline back into the game to nick the points off us.

We never struggled against Dumbarton. Our concentration, or lack of, allowed them to take the majority of points against us. It was frustrating to watch us dominate a team to go and lose in the last 5/10 minutes.

Bad management cost you the points in scenarios like that, however the majority of the time we were a hell of a lot better than them.

Yeah, I'm also disagreeing with Bertie. Dumbarton are the ultimate smash and grab team, sticking men behind the ball and getting shitey late goals. Put two past them and it's game over.

But apart from the game in which we gubbed them 5-1 we didn't do that did we? Therefore, we struggled against them & it was similar the year before. We struggled to break them down, we struggled to cope with them hitting us on the break. As soon as they equalised there was only ever going to be one winner & it wasn't us. Possession & control of the game counts for sod all if you don't score the goals.
Face it guys even if we didn't have 5 points deducted last season we were still behind Dumbarton by a few points.

I'm encourage by the double header against St Mirren. If we play Longridge and Millen as the full backs and Gordon and Gallagher as the Centre Halfs, then I think we are more solid defensively. Add in that Buchanan is scoring goals and I'll go for 3-1 to Livi FG 1 minute.

Just hope the first goal is for us this time and we're not having to chase the game.

Agree with EL, I have a bad feeling about this game. Would love nothing more than for us to get a comfortable 3-0 win finally, although that's wishful thinking.
