Dumbarton v Livi Empty Dumbarton v Livi

Post by Liviforever Mon Sep 28, 2015 4:32 pm

Tbh a draw wouldn't be the worst result but I'd be gutted if we don't come away with all 3 points, great opportunity to move up at least one place and with St Mirren at home the next again week to def get us into 7th place.

If we win this I believe we'll go on the same kind of run we did at the tail end of last season, think Burchill finally sees we have a decent target man in Sheerin and two up front gets us goals.

I'd love us to really go for it against Dumbarton with this line up:

    .......................................McCallum

    .....................Millen-Gordon-Gallagher-Longridge

    ......................Glen-Cole-Pittman-Buchanan

    ...................................Sheerin-White

Buchanan slotting into the Hippo role of going where he wants. In any case I think Hippo needs dropped to the bench as he looks a bit jaded. *Waits for Hippo to have a blinder starting against Dumbarton now* Laughing

I don't think Dumbarton would be able to cope with a White/Buchanan/Sheerin attack.

An optimistic 3-0 Livi with Burchill prob playing it safe. FG 27 mins.

Go with all 3 playing and I'd have went for 6-1 Livi.

    McCallum
    Millen Deks Gordon Longridge
    Glen Gibbons Piittman Mullen
    Buchanan Sheerin

That'd be my 11, dunno why Gibbons has been dropped when he's been our best player this season. Hippolyte to be dropped, he's been a liability all season and from what I've read was pish on Saturday. I'm not getting too excited about our win over Alloa, they're a shocking side and it's about time we got points on the board. I hate playing Dumbarton, we have an OK record on their ground but it's more often that not a close contest. I think we'll lose 1-0.

We went there and humped them silly last season when we played an attacking set up, then we played safe at home and lost. These are the teams we need to absolutely be going 2 up front against and scoring a few past them. We'll dominate play but we also need to score when we're on top or they'll fecking mug us again, like they did last season.

Like I said last week, set the team up right and we'll win this game by a few goals.

Would go with the same team as Lexi, Gibbons has looked good whenever I've seen him play so unless he's a complete arsehole in training I can't see why he's been dropped, still gives us Shagz to come off the bench if we're looking for a goal too.

Is Duckrell the player this season that we won't see play? David Luongo, Curtis Jones, etc...

Burchill said Ryan Currie would've had more games had we not been struggling for points, would imagine Duckrell is in the same boat.

Never understood that mentality. They are young and inexperienced but he thought they were good enough to sign them, so get them playing. They might be a revelation. If they fail to impress then nothing in particular is lost as others have not been impressing either.

Anyway, back to earth with a bump, 2-1 for Dumbarton fg 32 mins

Yeah, agree with Bertie. Especially since our wing play this season has been uninspiring.

We should beat them but I'm unsure if we will. 1-0 them (FG 80 mins) for the classic smash and grab after we've battered them all game.

Is it just me or has this week dragged in, after the win against Alloa I've been bursting to see us play Dumbarton and it is taking forever to come around.

Hope our win will get a few more to this game to cheer the team on, get that same spirit we had in the run in last season where the fans turned up in numbers and the players got a lift from the support.

    Mon the Amber Machine. cheers

I would like to solely blame that absolute stupid c*nt of a boy called Myles Hippolyte but the truth lies in Burchill's starting selections. Hugo Faria playing left wing made absolutely no sense and he was dire all afternoon, even after he got shifted into the middle. Why have we got anything up to four wingers and still playing a holding-midfield journeyman out wide?

First goal was cheap to give when Millen should've been quicker shutting the winger down before putting the ball into the box. Poor marking cost us for the second.

Burchill can just do one if he's gonna take the piss managing this team and making comical decisions like that starting team today.

First Hippo was an absolute disgrace and deserves to have the book thrown at him for his actions. Childish, thuggish call it what you like but just not on. I've never seen the Livi fans react so angrily to their own player after a straight red, no applauding him off the park.

Did this card cost us the game? For me personally no it didn't. Shocking and amateurish defending was the route cause, even with a man down that second goal of Dumbarton's was clearly avoidable.

Up front Buchananan did his best but we just lack that killer instinct in the box.

Even with 10 men we still looked the better side because Dumbarton were absolutely nothing to write home about believe me.

The whole body language of the team looks disjointed at times and I am utterly confused by MB's team selection and tactics at times.

Where do we go from here? I wish I knew because it doesn't look very far.

Well well well. I wouldn't blame Hippo solely on that defeat but it certainly was the reason we didn't win. After he was sent off, we could have held out for a draw was it not for shambolic defending.
Tactically we are not up to scratch and this has been the case for about a year now.
Where does that leave us? Get rid of Burchill, this long ball shit isn't pretty and it isn't working. His win percentage must be about 10% by now.

Get rid of him, plenty managers out a job just now and would take anything

Would we be able to afford Jimmy Calderwood?

Dumbarton are terrible. So where does that leave Livi?
So pleased that the travelling support didn't applaud Hippolyte as he walked off. He should have hid his face in shame.
We may have won it with 11 men we could have won it with 10 because they fell out of it after the sending off. But once again we shoot ourselves in the foot. We had nothing to do at the back yet they still scored with 50% of their shots. We are a shambles and I can't see it getting better. Didn't like Burchill before don't like Burchill now. He needs to go

We were the better team by far. It just isn't happening for us. We are making chances but the ball just won't go into the net. Brown made a few excellent saves that might have gone in on another day. Dumbarton got lucky today much as they have in several games against us in recent seasons. I would not fault the team for effort. I didn't see the Hippolyte incident but all the fans who saw it said he was stupid and deserved what he got. He was obviously still riled by getting barged hard just before the incident. Some refs would have given a penalty for that. Whatever, it did not justify his idiotic behaviour.

We still have to play all teams another 3 times. The only ones I thought were better than us in the first quarter were Rangers and Falkirk. There is plenty of time for things to change. Could be doing with a few of the kind of breaks Dumbarton got today.

Post by Liviforever Sat Oct 03, 2015 11:25 pm

Really annoying coming away with nothing today, we were the better team again creating most of the chances and putting pressure on goal but our defending leaves us throwing points away time and again. I was shouting at Millen to stop backing away, he must've backed away about 10 yards from the 18 yard box and let their player get in our box and pick out his man for the cross, so fecking annoying seeing us do that. Didn't really see what our defending was like for their 2nd will have to watch the vid but their player had quite a bit of space to get his shot off into our net with nobody anywhere near him.

Where do I start with Hippo, deservedly dropped to the bench after being subbed last week for not being in the game much, looked like he wasn't pleased at all during warm ups going by his body language, had a bit of a petted lip about him. Came on at HT and actually looked decent, made an instant impact causing them bother and was a real nuisance to their defenders. Got deliberately blocked off inside the box and looked annoyed at not getting a penalty then the next thing I know the ref is running over to him and a Dumbarton player was on the ground, red card to Hippo. The fans were fuming at him and rightly so, absolute idiot and it prob cost us the 3 points as I think we'd have won with 11 men when White came on.

However we had to make a tactical change and sub Sheerin for Gibbons so Buchanan was up front himself and we'd used all our subs with an earlier forced substitution for our 2nd sub when Longridge was injured and Neill came on.

Actually thought we were still the better team with 10 men and Dumbarton kept giving the ball away from defensive passes, Gibbons caught it sweet as a nut on the edge of the box and I was half out my seat celebrating a goal when their keeper made a great save. We had another good effort at goal which he saved again and I was cursing him for being so good, then the inevitable happened and we concede a goal from nothing.

Scunnered doesn't begin to describe my feelings walking away with zero points today.

Oh and Dumbarton are very good at fouling players to stop any breaks from defence. As soon as Pittman got the ball in our half he was halved or tripped, making sure they didn't get caught on a break up the pitch. The ref talked to a few of them before producing cards, they've officially become the team that annoys me most this season for niggly fouls that doesn't allow the game to flow. Alloa did that last season but Dumbarton have taken over from them with barges, leading with elbows and trips & kicks, bunch of dirty bastards.

Hippo went down easily and claimed for a penalty. Didn't get it and kicked the Dumbarton player. Absolute twat who should be rotting on the bench after costing us at least a point.

Burchill is not the answer said it before say it again, his team selection yesterday was a joke.

Last week we played  Alloa and got lucky because let's face it Alloa were gash but the formation looked balanced.

LF suggested dropping Hippo and replacing him with BUCHANAN in a free role and pairing Sheerin and White up top, the pair that had done so well v Morton and Inverness and in the managers own words "the team played better v Inverness than we did at Alloa"

This suggestion by LF maybe seemed a bit strange at the time but it probably had a better chance of working than the one our manager chose. I couldn't believe it when I walked in yesterday and saw we were playing that big guy, who I admit I thought he was going to be OK before we signed him,as a replacement for Hippo...totally mental.

Cole as our captain is a joke, most of the time he doesn't seem interested and gets injured more often than not. He is never a leader. Management and Captain out of the same mould, they are never leaders.

Our manager is clueless and can't get a winning team on the park as his stats prove below
    9 league games
    1 draw
    1 win
    4 points out of a possible 27

Yes he saved us from the drop last season but if we continue with him he will take us down this season.
His record is way worse than John Mglynn at the same stage last season.

He should be shown the door as to not be able to beat Dumbarton who were even worse than Alloa in a must win game is ridiculous.

I know people will say we can't keep sacking managers, well to those guys I say, hope you enjoy League One next season because that is where we are headed if we keep Mr Tinker Man in charge.
