QoS v Livi Empty QoS v Livi

Post by Liviforever Sun Nov 19, 2017 3:37 pm

A bit like buses, we didn't have a league game for ages and 3 are coming along in the one week. First up is QoS away, they've sneaked up under the radar into 5th place, just one point behind us, so a big game for us. A win would be massive but I've a feeling Hoppy will set us up not to lose again, same as he did against ICT, just hope we can nick a goal or 2 and grind out a win.

Dunno if this is right or not, can't be arsed checking, but feels like we do better away from home against QoS, and we get a lot of draws against them at home, i'm going for a 2-1 Livi win, fg 22 mins.

Would like to see Mackin get the start with Mullen or De Vita to run off him. He's proving to be a valuable goalscorer as much as his work rate can be lacking, seems he's the most dangerous of our forwards right now and if he continues to score at the rate he is then he'll have a nice tally come the end of the season

Last 5 away games have been (oldest to most recent): D-L-W-W-L

    All time: D-W-L-W-W-D-W-L-D-L-L-L-D-L-L-W-D-L-W-D-L-W-W-L (8 wins, 6 draws, 10 losses).

Definitely have a bit more joy there recently compared to that spell between 2006 and 2012.

A point would be a very good result IMO, Queens have picked their form up a bit in the league, 3 wins on the bounce and 5 games unbeaten. I'm still pessimistic enough to think we might fall away at some point, I think part of that is down to knowing that as soon as I get optimistic, we'll go on a massive losing streak.

    Mullen - Todorov
    Cadden - Penrice - Pittman - Byrne - Mullin
    Lithgow - Gallagher - Halkett
    Alexander

    1-1, FG 29 mins.

And yet you are predicting a draw.

I agree with LF that we'll set up not to lose but this time it will fail. QoS will go ahead fairly early, we'll start chasing the game & get picked off.

Got a bad feeling about this one. Worries me how comfortable we were against them at home for 70-odd minutes, then contrived to do well to get a draw out the game.

    0-2, FG 36 mins.

Haven't seen anything about Mullen being injured so hopefully he's fine to start for us against QoS. Mackin is the in form goal scorer so have a feeling he'll also start, please for the love of god Hoppy, don't start Mackin up front himself in a 4-5-1 formation, I think I might actually cry if you do.

Really hope we go 4-4-2 or 3-5-2, we need to be defensively solid but if we don't have 2 up front it just invites more pressure on our defence, with the opposition team having more time to bring the ball out from the back and set up attacks.

Penrice will be back in and McMillan is back from a wee injury, so i'd line up:

    .........................................Alexander

    .............Gallagher................Halkett....................Lithgow

    McMillan...........Byrne.............Pittman........Jacobs...............Penrice

    ................................Mullen            Mackin/Toddy

Bit of luck the sun blinding Gallagher though, but a great finish from Lyle. If we play Penrice and McMillan as wingbacks then that should make us solid enough to deal with QoS wingers.

Difficult one to call this. Both teams seem to be on a par with one another although im not getting sucked in by their supposedly poor cup form.Their at home and will therefore be expecting to come away with the 3 points. It was so frustrating watching the Caley game a bit back with us playing with one man up front for most of the game.I just hope that Hoppy doesnt go down that route again and gives us a chance to have a right good go at them.Il go for the old anything other than a defeat scenario for this one although play to our own game and i see no reason why we shouldnt return from Dumfries with all 3 points in the bag.Do it Livi!!!

Apparently Mullen is a doubt for this game, no idea how he's been injured with him not having played a game for 3 weeks. Can't remember him being injured against Caley.

Just read the DR article on Josh Mullin, hadn't realised he's had so many assists this season, 14, 2 goals and 6 assists in the league and 8 assists in cup games. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/local-sport/practice-makes-perfect-livingston-assist-11578034

It’s just practice and putting the hours in at training to get better. During the week before the game, myself and Shaun Byrne stayed behind for a while and he was just feeding me balls down the wing.

Good to see a Livi player putting in extra practice in his own time after training, always astounds me that more players haven't done this at Livi, esp when it is part of their game. Good on Shaun Byrne for staying on and helping him out too.

Hopefully he gets another assist or 2 tomorrow, our players should be getting into the box ready for a cross when they see Mullin on the ball.

Very strong midfield - I'll go 2 - 1 to Livi with the first goal on the 56 minute

It was better than that LfL. We scored another perfectly good goal. The ball was well over the line before being pushed out. The useless ref and linesman (all afternoon!) were the only ones who somehow didn't see it. The whole team worked their socks off as usual and thoroughly deserved their excellent win.

Yeah just been on P&B and read the match thread, looks like it could've been 5 or 6 today, but Alexander also made 2 magnificent saves. Funny reading opposition fans saying they played shite and had an off day, we keep getting so lucky playing teams just as they have off days. lol!

Yes Alexander was always there any time our defence was breached and he made a magnificent save at 1-0 that I, and I'm sure nearly everybody else in the ground, felt sure was going in.
I am really appreciating the confidence having a good goalie gives. It's a few seasons since I felt that.

Magnificent result from Palmerston yesterday regardless of how poor Queens were accrding to their own fans. Will be interesting to see the highlights package if they did one just to clear up a couple of things though il understand if they didnt.Yes we are up to 3rd and only a couple of points off the top but more importantly to me is the fact that we are now 16 points clear of Falkirk who currently occuppy that dreaded relegation playoff place at the moment.Still a long way to go but Hoppy seems to have breathed an air of confidence in this squad and i sincerely hope we can keep it going for as long as possible.2 big games coming up and hopefully the Lions go into both with no fear and have a right go at both of them.Youve earned your position in this league Livi WELL DONE!!!

    Highlights of our goals. https://vimeo.com/244537874

Good work by Byrne getting the ball back and then running down the wing to get it and pass to Rafa, and fantastic ball in from Rafa for Penrice's goal. Same with our 2nd, what a delivery from Mullin, superb. Even the 3rd was good team work, following up by Byrne to knock it in after Longridge was beaten in the box.

Yeah but how anyone thought the second goal was SCORED by Mullin is beyond me; it is clearly headed by someone; on the video it looks like Mackin but it could have been someone else; papers today gave it as a Dycey og

Neil's first half save was okay but the second half save was superb

Rafa's ball in for Penrice was outstanding & the latter's finish was very composed for one so young

Mullin's free kick was well delivered, from the first angle it looks like Mackin gets the header but the angle behind the goal shows he didn't, you can't see who did but it has to be the defender behind him because there is no way it went straight in, you can see it change direction.

Good tenacity to create the chance for Byrne to finish & a decent finish from him.
