Unfortunately until such time as we can get an artificial pitch this is going to happen. Can't legislate for the weather.

Not sure why this is such an embarrassment from Livi, not like they can control the weather.

Yeh agree. The point i was making was that as much as its frustrating for us ,most of us new at the begining of the the week that inspections would probably be futile in this instance due to the uncontrolable weather conditions.Should have been called off yesterday imo and the embarrasment im talking about will no doubt come from the Morton fans on their forums.Reckon theyl have a field day.LOL.t.

I agree but I would also question the quality of the covers. Modern ones are supposed to cover against the equivailent of a foot of permafrost; allowing the earth natural heat to win over.
These ones sound more like the rain covers they use for cricket matches.
What you get for buying critical pieces of kit from some geezer in the jailend carpark....

Re: Livi v Morton
Didn't have any problems with the weather last season but looks like this is going to be a bad winter and we're going to have a hell of a lot of games postponed this season.
The first game was a bit embarrassing and amateurish with it being mild for a few days before the match, had we put covers down when it was well forecast in advance about the initial cold spell then that game would've been on. But now we're into proper winter conditions we're at the mercy of the weather and not much we can do about it.
Don't think anyone thought this game was going ahead, even Tues night will be a slim chance, if Orco is right about the temp rising tomorrow we've still got that problem area that didn't thaw out in the 2 days prior to the Falkirk game when it was mild.

Re: Livi v Morton
I think we will be ok temperature wise for Tuesday. 9° tomorrow, 6° on Monday and a heady 10° on Tuesday.
Waterlogged pitch anyone?
Someone on P&B said 8 players were sent home yesterday with a sickness bug so for once maybe it's for the best. We're gonnae be awfy rusty though by Tuesday.

19th Falkirk
23rd Dundee United
26th Dumbarton
30th Dunfermline
2nd ICT
6th QoS
That's 6 games in 19 days.
Factor in injuries and suspensions. Ah well, it was all going so well for a while.

Re: Livi v Morton
So much for a plastic pitch being frost proof, Falkirk's game has been postponed due to frozen pitch too. Although they don't want to play so that seems a bit dodgy, they're stacking up their games till they bring in a load of new players in January.

Falkirk have an 'all weather' pitch, and Stirling Uni vs Spartans was on it last night. Think they're at it until the January window opens

Another plastic pitch bites the frost, QoS v Utd abandoned in the 2nd half.

Do they not have undersoil heating too? Definitely at it. Apparently Hartley was putting pressure on the referee the day our game with them was cancelled saying stuff like - if one of my players gets injured ....etc.

I really, really hope his new signings in Jan get humped in all their rearranged games, it would be fecking hilarious, esp seeing the reaction from the Falkirk posters on P&B after all their dire patter every time a game has been postponed.

Re: Livi v Morton
Last weekend in the NFL Buffalo Bills played Indianapolis Colts with about 4-6 inches of snow on the ground. Admittedly they don't rely on the ball being on the ground very much but it's still underfoot conditions that would be difficult.
It's not the first time a game on plastic has been postponed due to the weather; could it have been more to do with the safety of the public on the pavements? We had a home game postponed for that once.

Bobby Barr on twitter complaining about having to play on Airdrie's plastic pitch last week when it was a lot worse than todays conditions.

Re: Livi v Morton
Ach, he's just a softie. Get them back to playing on blaise or gravel... That will make a man of them & might actually teach players to stay on their feet.
