I noticed the similarity of the results sequence too but last time we lost 3 before getting a draw in the game before the final.
Good on the town for getting something going to bring the game to life up there.
We should get the 2004 highlights projected onto the side of some building in Livingston

Advice for Sunday. Don't as much as brush pass Chris Kane or he will go down making it look like you fouled him. Don't let Shaun Rooney get his head anywhere near the ball.

Score more goals than St Johnstone.

It's a strange cup final with no fans allowed, players are travelling individually in their own cars, nobody wearing a suit, all casual in trackies for Livi. Players staying in their own homes and going to the stadium for a pre match lunch, then driving in their cars to Hampden, Efe getting an escort between Marv and DM so he doesn't get lost.
How is everyone else getting on with the build up to it?
Feels like xmas when you're an adult and don't have any kids yet, is the best way i have of describing it. For such a massive occasion for a club our size, it isn't really feeling it for me, not like 2004 anyway. No doubt the butterflies will be in my belly come Sunday as i sit watching the telly, i'll get it set up on Premier sports an hour before ko to take in the build up so my nerves are properly jangling.

As i said earlier, it doesent feel the same as 2004.Weve every right to feel nervous,as i suspect Saints fans will be as well.A monumental effort will be needed if we are to do this.As Orco says, theve got players who can hurt us if we are not on our game, but so have we as well against them.Enjoying the banter from Davie.Who says its only a game of football? .

In all honesty I’m trying not to think too much about it. I remember being amazingly relaxed about the whole thing back in 2004; I went to the game convinced we would win. I also remember the last 10 minutes feeling like hours & almost a sense of anti-climax when the whistle went. There had never been so many Livi fans in one place (albeit it was only around 10,000) but 2-0 up with 10 mins left & we were like a library... we should have been singing “We’re gonnae win the cup” but it was like we didn’t know what to do. Almost as if we expected us to blow it in the last 10 minutes.
I don’t have the same feeling of confidence going into this one.

St Johnstone have come into form at an ideal time while we have gone off the boil a bit. Pity. Still a cup final is an altogether different animal to league games. May the best team win.

Re: Livi v St Johnstone LEAGUE CUP FINAL
The consolation of us not winning the final is that we are guaranteed that the club which wins will end Celtic’s run of 12 consecutive trophies... and that club isn’t the Govanites.

Re: Livi v St Johnstone LEAGUE CUP FINAL
Big Guthrie and Mullin weren't playing in our defeat to them, both will make huge differences to set pieces for us, and Guthrie will also be able to match Rooney in height and physicality, wouldn't expect him to be getting any free headers in set pieces like he did for his goal in our last game.
That's all it came down to for them beating us, their set pieces were better, that wont be the case on Sunday.
Looking at the team, there are a few candidates for getting us a goal or 2 here.
Could be the perfect occasion Scotty P chooses to score a goal, getting in on the end of a Mullin cross to bundle it into the net.
The amount of different goal scorers we have this season, would be brilliant if Efe opens his account and gets his head square on a cross bursting the net, then seeing him celebrate with his legendary back flips.
Forrest has gone off the boil too, but what a game for him to come on and grab a goal, he's scored a lot of goals .for us in our League cup campaign, another of those cutting inside scoring from the edge of the 18 yard box would be great.
BBJ Guthrie is prob favourite from a set piece.
Or a Serrano thunderfuck like his goal against Celtic.
Mullin is decent from open play too, he's scored some great goals, incl his memorable equaliser at Dundee.
Robbo being back in is also great news, he's having his best season ever at Livi scoring goals.
Who have i missed?

Not quite the suggestion I made but the ATC Tower at Edinburgh Airport is going to be yellow this weekend - it’s on the OCS but as you all know I can never get an image to show on my posts, only the link... so over to you LF*
* I did it!!!!!
It looks superb IMO - like a huge golden trophy...

We're kind of restricted in what we can do to support the team but some folk are going to drive to the stadium on Sunday morning and peep their car horns to send the team off on their car convoy around 11.00am.

Well done Bertie, looks great.
Yeah Orco that sounds like an essential journey to me.
Hopefully the players will also be welcomed back to the stadium carrying the Trophy.

Re: Livi v St Johnstone LEAGUE CUP FINAL
Ok then,so less than 24 hours to go so here goes.Having perused through the rags this morning and listened to the various media comments the general concensus is that we will lose this.Indeed going into it as underdogs which incidently suits me.Weve had this scenario on numerous occasions and have prevailed. For me personally i think it comes down to what Livi team turns up.Saints are a decent team and i feel we will have to be at our very best to come out on top here.Reckon it will take a tacticle masterstroke from Davie to keep Saints at bay.Seems we are going to have our strongest 11 available so thats good news in itself. Nerves really kicking in now as i suspect they will be for most. All we can ask is that the players believe they can do this and do themselves justice. We can do this albeit gonna be tough. Sod it just bring it home Livi,we a right there with you.Good luck lads..

Re: Livi v St Johnstone LEAGUE CUP FINAL
Only miss for us is not having Brown, both him and Guthrie were immense at dealing with high balls from crosses, still confident Guthrie will deal with Rooney though, he's their main threat for headers, basically he's their equivalent of Guthrie.
We've that many goal scorers too, which is surely an advantage, anyone can pull out a goal for us. Mullin gives us great deliveries to get on the end of a cross in their box too. As long as they all turn up and give it their all we'll win, i have no doubt about that, they've surpassed all expectations time and again, we should have total faith our players will do it again. Mon the Lions, go out there and make history, and become Livi Legends.

Re: Livi v St Johnstone LEAGUE CUP FINAL
Great article in today’s Scottish Mail on Sunday regarding Livingston.
It is about the build up to the 2004 cup final and the aftermath. It is a compilation of comments from Davie Hay, Manu Dorado and Alan Preston. It also has a never heard before story regarding David Fernandez and Fernando Pasquinelli and an update from Nicky Devlin.
Worth a look.

Have to agree.
Gave St Johnstone to much respect at the expense of our natural game.
Midfield was non existent.

Re: Livi v St Johnstone LEAGUE CUP FINAL
Gutter of a loss, better team first half and lose a goal to their first corner, to the one guy we knew would be their goal threat. Thought McCrorie should've saved it but it was a good header. 2nd half St Johnstone started well on top and could've gone 2 up but for McCrorie pulling off a great block, we didn't look remotely like getting back in the game till we made our substitutions.
Afetr we brought on our subs we looked the better team again but just couldn't get that break through, credit to St Johnstone's defenders, them and Rooney from their corner won them the game. Shite way to lose the final, apart from Mullin's shot first half we didn't get near to scoring, we had the best of the set pieces from corners and free kicks first half but just didn't get near to scoring, they get ONE and stick it away.
Pretty deflated because i think we're better than them, but they scored and we didn't, totally scunnered losing it so meekly.
We can bpunce back by getting 5th/4th place and a European spot, we've still a lot to ply for, mon the Lions.
