I don't remember Miller's effort as being on target, I'm sure it was across goal, if Boateng missed it we had someone beyond him waiting to tap it in.

I tend to agree with you though, in ice hockey the last player on the scoring team to touch the puck is credited with the goal... This can in theory lead to a very strange situation where a goalie makes a save, the puck is collected by the attacking side, one of the defending players gets a delayed "penalty" against him, play continues and the attacking team pulls their goalie off for an extra attacker because as soon as one of the penalised team touches the puck the whistle will blow, but the attacking team make a mess of it and knock it into their own net. The goalie who made the save would be credited with the goal. But as this type of thing wouldn't happen in football we could easily adopt it so that the last player on the scoring team to touch it is given the goal.

I also hate the way they award og's to goalies. If he palms a corner into the net or if it hits the woodwork and rebounds in off the keeper... Might as well award an og every time he gets a touch on the ball, after all his intention was to keep it out and he only helped knock it in.

Anyway, never mind. Still good to see the goals are being shared around.

Worth mentioning that Mullen has gone six games now without a goal. The effort he puts in for the team can't be questioned but is it worth resting or dropping him for the next game? Perhaps give Carrick a run of starts to prove himself?

It's a longish drought but I think he, like Pittman, is playing deeper than he was as he is not getting into as many scoring positions, having said that he only just missed getting on the end of the cross for the opening goal on Saturday, so he is still trying to get there. Thankfully he didn't get in the way of Buchanan who was in the better position anyway.

He came on against Crusaders to set up the opener in that game.

I think we stick with him until he stops having an effect in games. I thought he was struggling a bit on Saturday as, despite being good in the air, he was about 9 inches shorter than the guy marking him. We needed to get it down and pass it but we played into their hands until we scored, that was the first time we really attacked with pace and passing.

So stick with him for now, if he starts looking tired or disinterested then try changing things.

He just missed out on tapping in the first goal ahead of Buchanan; it was the push on him that won the free kick for the second and would probably have scored the third if he hadn't first been brought down by the goalkeeper.

And as Bertie kind of indicated he was "dropped" for the Crusader's game in favour of Carrick who played the full ninety minutes.

I like Carrick and his never say die attitude also playing for about 30 minutes with a seriously fractured hand) but he does seem to lack the final edge sometimes. Also Mullins is far better at winding up the opposition and drawing the niggling (and sometimes not so niggling) fouls.

Crazy talk that, dropping Mullen, as D said he won the free kick that Miller scored from and won the penalty Buchanan scored, also turned the game when he came on against Crusaders when he set up our first goal.

Buchanan has had shots saved by the keeper and Mullen follows up for goals in early games, he's always a threat and dropping him would be madness. Buchanan will have games when he doesn't score and Mullen will be there match sharp to get goals for us.

He roasts the arse off defenders too, and it must help Buchanan when Mullen is taking away players from him. I think the two of them have formed a good partnership.

Forgot to update this last week after we lost 2-1 to Peterheid. Buchanan scored so i'll go add a goal to his tally.

2 goals for Livi today against Airdrie as well, Mullen and Cadden scoring in the cup game.

That's Buchanan on 16 goals for the season and Mullen on 10.

Good to see Mullen back on the scoresheet and some finish as well. Clearly isn't short of confidence if he's able to do that after the recent drought. If he hadn't scored yesterday though, I would've questioned Hopkin to drop him.

Dunno he's still been playing well and both him and Buchanan run defenders ragged. As soon as Buchanan went off we didn't look nearly as dangerous up front, I think it would be the same without Mullen playing. Our problem is we don't have a 3rd striker that will push the other two for a start and when one goes off there is nobody to come on to take their place, we're always weaker up front when we make a substitution bringing Buchanan off.

Carrick and De Vita  both opened their goal account in the league, scoring a goal each against Stranraer.

Interesting stat which may surprise a few of our fans, we've got the least goals against total in the league, on 18 goals. Which makes us the top goal scorers in the league and the best defence.

It is quite surprising considering we seem to concede every game. If we could go a run of clean sheets we'd be unstoppable

Not that surprised really, I think only East Fife have scored 3 against us in the league in a single match and only Peterhead, Albion and Airdrie have bagged 2 in a single match. That's 9 conceded in 4 league matches while we've had 2 clean sheets and therefore conceded 9 in the other 9 league matches. So, not surprising when you think about it.

Defence was getting criticized early in the season for us letting in goals but we were scoring 5,4,3 goals a game so it wasn't a big deal really. It has tightened right up in recent games though and just as well because we aren't scoring as many now.

The Peterhead game was more down to us having to chase the game and we took off a defender to do that, I would blame that on a tactical decision by the manager more than our defenders being at fault. I think the manager has learnt a lesson from that game though and has been a lot more patient and not taken any gambles with our defence since then.

I have been more aware of their shortcomings recently simply because we aren't scoring as freely. Any defensive lapse is then highlighted & more harmful to the cause.

In the Peterhead game I blamed the pitch for at least one of the goals, we lost the ball trying to play through a rough section & they punished us, but on the other hand we should not have been trying to play football through the rough section of pitch.

Goals spread around with De Vita, Buchanan and Carrick scoring against Stenny, and our 4th goal coming from an OG.

Buchanan with 2 goals in our last two games, unfortunately we lost both games but it takes his goal tally to 19 for the season, 14 in the league.
    .
Also congrats Liam on hitting a benchmark for career league goals, scoring his 150th league goal on Saturday against East Fife.

3 more goals added, Buchanan, Byrne and a goal on his first game Gallagher.

A quick look at the league table over the last 8 seasons tells me 69 points would be more than enough to win us the league, the most points the runner up has had was 67 points and most are on less, that's 9 more wins we need from our last 16 games.

Was just talking about how Pittman was scoring quite a few goals at the start of the season, then he went and stuck the ball in the net and Cadden got credited with it Laughing

Was Cadden announced at the game for the goal, but saw our twitter had Pittman. Our match report has Cadden's goal bound effort being turned into the net by Pittman but then has Cadden down as the scorer at the bottom of the report. Confused.com.

Both the SPFL website and the BBC site has Cadden though so I went with that.

Buchanan scoring his 17th league goal and he's also on a run of a goal in each of our last 5 league games.

Mullen getting his 8th league goal, hopefully getting some confidence from it to score a few more.

I think Iain Russell scored the most goals in a season of any Livi player when we won this division under Bollan, does anyone know how many goals he scored so we can see how many Buchanan needs to beat it. Buchanan is on 22 goals in all comps.

Really need to get Buchanan signed up for next season. He will probably be looking for two-year deal. That's why he came to us from Alloa.

According to Wiki he scored 22 league goals. Wiki also has him on 24 for the season. So wee Liam needs 6 more to set the new league record and only 3 for a season record.

We won the title that year after 31 games & finished 23 points clear on 82 points having scored 79 goals in the league. We lost 4 games in the league and played only 3 cup ties losing the lot.

I don't think we will match the league record never mind beat it but Liam may never have a better opportunity to get set a club record or two.

Not sure of the accuracy but according to Soccerbase Liam is on 36 career goals for us. According to Wiki David Bingham had 50 career goals for us and I'm sure that he is the Livi record goal scorer. If we were to sign Liam up for another 2 seasons, he'd have a decent chance of beating that.
