We've done well to get away with Saturday's defeat given the results for Airdrie and Brechin yesterday, but it shouldn't detract from the embarrassing nature of our loss. We barely worked the EF 'keeper, I can't actually recall us having a shot on target except for the goal, and even at that, there was a hint of offside about it. At that point I'd expected us to kick on like the game against Stenhousemuir recently, but credit to East Fife, they certainly know how to dig in and take opportunities when they come. The nature of our collapse is especially galling considering how much I thought Kelly had come on since his arrival; after their first goal he looked a bag of nerves, albeit he was unlucky with the second goal where his defence let him down.
No idea why Hopkin didn't utilise his subs more. I have no idea why Cadden wasn't available but you've got to make do with what you've got - EF only had 3 fit subs, ffs, and Hopkin was outmanoeuvred tactically by them. There's no point only bringing young guys on when we're 2 or 3 goals up, they learn little that way compared to when the pressure is on. I'd have liked to have seen Ogilvie come into CM to add a bit of energy alongside Pittman as by all accounts, he did so against Stranraer in a similar type of game and did well. Hopkin's reluctance is partly to blame for us going down so meekly but some of the players need to shoulder the blame too. All of the back four was stinking, I'd only offer pass marks to Pittman and maybe De Vita for at least trying to create something. The rest were awful and it will be a difficult game against Peterhead.
