Keeping an eye on a few teams in the lower leagues this season, to see how our Loan players are getting on.

    Josh Mullin- Accies

    Matij Poplatnik- Raith

    Joel Nouble
    Harrison Clark = Arbroath

    Carlo Pignatiello- Dumbarton

    Brian Schwake- Edin City

Big Joel scoring for Arbroath against Ayr today, as they currently lead 1-0. And Harrison also in their starting line up.

Josh on the subs bench for Accies, would expect he'd come on as a 2nd half sub.

Nouble having the best day yesterday with a goal and an assist in Arbroath's 2-2 draw with Ayr, Clark got subbed on the 69th min in the 2nd half in that game.

Pignatiello got an assist in Dumbarton's 2-2 draw with Airdrie too.

Mullin got a run out on the 59th min in Accies 1-0 defeat to Morton.

Big Nouble rag dolled Thistle defence on Sat, to help Arbroath to a 3-1 win. Reading their fans really rating him, saying they wouldn't swap him for Hammy in Jan if given the choice of the 2.

Congratulations to Joel Nouble on winning the TASC Social Media Man of the Match for his performance in the Lichties fantastic 3-1 win over Partick Thistle at Gayfield yesterday. The big Englishman, who has become a fan favourite already was in dazzling form and a constant threat throughout the game. Thanks to all who voted.

The boy Nouble on loan at Arbroath from
    @LiviFCOfficial
    is a baller.

Moves well on and off the ball, technically very good and a real handful too.

Boy is a talent for sure!

Just been subbed after setting up the 3rd Arbroath goal.

Applause from home and away support. A tremendous performance from the big fella.

I think we could be doing with Nouble just now, Jan can't come soon enough to get him back at Livi playing for us.

Reilly joins the loanees… away to Morton for the season with a Jan recall option.

Understand it as he hasn’t really made any impression since getting here albeit he was affected by injury early on BUT it leaves us woefully short of options up front.

Wouldn't say woefully short, we've got Anderson and Hamilton, and only one is starting as we don't play 2 up front. Just signed Panayiotou as well, and Forrest can play as a striker too if need be.

Last season we had Robbo playing as a striker, then JET took over, with Poplatnik as a sub option. Don't think we're any worse off just now than in prev seasons.

Which to my mind is woefully short. Arguably the wide guys can play up top but it remains to be seen if they are any good at it. Meantime we have Bruce whose diabetes needs to be managed properly; no reason why it can’t, Danny McGrain is proof of that, but with the amount of thankless running that Bruce has to do in the lone striker role it has to be very hard on him. Jack is nowhere near as mobile but is a physical presence and as such needs someone to feed or feed off, so we would be better playing 2 up if Jack is playing, in fact I’d argue we’d be better of having Bruce & Jack playing together, it might reduce the running that Bruce has to do & he might benefit from Jack’s flick-ons. (All ifs & buts I know but what we are currently doing isn’t producing enough goals to win games, so surely it’s worth a try, especially as we are apparently trying to play out from the back, ironically with perhaps the most route 1 style centre backs we’ve had in a few years.

You must've thought we were woefully short up front the last 3 seasons then, we're actually better covered for forwards than we were the last three seasons.

Prev seasons we've had midfielders playing up front, Dolly and Robbo, this is prob the first season in the return to the top flight we've got actual strikers (more than one) signed and playing right from the start of the season. Not really seeing your concern for wanting more numbers in that area.

A CB is still priority imo, get one signed and we'd be pretty much sorted, or as sorted as our budget allows us.

Yes I did think so & if you look back you will see that. I wanted more than Dykes but we had goal threats from other positions, with midfielders & defenders chipping in, so we didn’t miss it so much. The last time I thought we had sufficient forwards was when we won the play offs and by the final we only really had Lee Miller still on his feet.

My concern is we aren’t scoring enough goals. We have shipped at least 2 every league game and only scored 2 league goals. Admittedly it’s not been an easy start and defensive/goalie errors have cost us dearly but we have also created chances & failed to take them.

Yeah we're no longer a threat from set pieces, or long throw ins, which was always an area we could rely on for goals going back 4 seasons. Obileye should be scoring from those, but our deliveries are piss poor.

Hard to tell yet if our actual strikers will bang the goals in though, our season has been so hampered by injuries, covid, and other illnesses decimating our squad, we've never had a full strength team that had everyone fit yet. We're always playing players that shouldn't really be back yet because we're struggling to field a team.

Surely to feck things have to settle down for us soon, and we can get a semblance of stability on the pitch to have a proper go of it.

Nouble again having a brilliant game and scoring a goal for Abroath's 2-0 win over QotS, taking them up to 3rd place. A win against Killie on Fri would see them go top of the Championship.

A few quotes from their opponents on Nouble from the P&B forum:

Nouble delivered the best “target man” performance I have seen in a very long time. Not sure who at Livvy decided to loan out the big man but on the evidence of that display and earlier reports it is pretty obvious that he would walk into most Premiership starting 11s and to think that Bruce Anderson and Jack Hamilton are better options than Nouble defies all logic. Nouble almost singlehandedly created 4/5 great chances out of absolutely nothing when he was constantly surrounded by at least 3/4 QOS defenders.

Its pretty much been said already. Nouble was outstanding. Deceptively quick, powerful, strong, telescopic legs and good touch. He has it all. It defies sanity Livi sent him out on loan and its hard to believe they wont recall him as soon as they can.

Someone at Livi is looking fairly stupid letting Nouble go out on loan. He was unplayable today

On the game, I was sceptical Nouble was as good as the Arbroath fans were saying before the game, but if anything he looked better! Clearly too good for this level and no chance he wont be getting a game for Livy come January.

Nouble is ridiculous as a player. A good touch for a big man etc etc.

Queens defenders will be having nightmares about him. Wins everything, ball sticks to him and what a control and touch. Curious to see where he goes next.

    And some Arbroath fans;

Nouble is worth the admission money alone,

Thing is. Nouble has played much better than that. Fucking boys scary good. Just a ridiculous player. A futsal player with an NFL players physique.

Give Nouble player of season for the league already

Nouble been decent today but wow they few bits of magic before the goal a total joke wouldn’t take anyone else in this league over the big man

And so on and on they go, with every game he plays it's looking a huge mistake on Martindale putting him out on loan, esp when you see how much we could do with him in the team right now.

Yeah he had a cracking 1st half, hitting the post twice and putting the ball into the box for the one cleared off the line. Faded out of it in the 2nd half though, then popped up a couple of times going on good runs into the box.

We could so do with him taking players on and causing defenders all sorts of problems in the box.

But we would probably not play to his strengths.

Still, would like to see him given a chance for us. He’s clearly better than Scottish second tier.

Yep, had a good game playing more as an attacking mid or No 10 type role, much like Robbo imo, pity we punted him out on loan, always thought he looked quite good for us and just needed a run of games. Rate him much higher than Reilly anyway, can't see us taking Poplatnik back though, prob just agree to terminate his contract by mutual consent once his loan deal is up.

Noubs must be injured, wasn't playing for Arbroath this weekend. Think they really missed him and Low, who was also out injured.
