    Alloa v Livi Empty Alloa v Livi

    Post by Liviforever Mon Feb 22, 2016 9:57 pm

    Win and we're still in with a chance of getting above Dumbarton to 8th place and Championship survival.

    A draw and we're as good as consigned to a bottom 2 battle of who gets 10th place relegation and who gets the 9th place play off place.

    Defeat and we're in serious trouble of being 10th place and relegated.

    The term must win has been used a few times but for me this is down to last chance saloon of staying in touch for 8th place, I just can't see us getting there after a defeat in this game and it would be more likely for Dumbarton to move too far away for us to catch them. In fact i'd say Alloa would be more likely to get above us if they win with the confidence boost it would give them.

    Alloa will be compact in the narrow pitch so we absolutely must use the wings to get in behind them, play it through the middle and we're playing into their strengths. And we need to use both wings and switch play about to keep them on the hop as to where we'll be attacking from.

    Also need to get a fecking grip with our shooting and get shots on target.

    Can't give up on us yet but if ever we needed a win to get us going it's this game, so the players need to be up for it right from the start and just get right in about them, we did it against Hibs and almost scored in the first few minutes, so lets get fecking out there and go for it.

    I'd love to do the team talks pre match and at HT. bounce bounce bounce

    Agree with just about all you have said LF....but my natural cynicism & low expectations tell me that we'll be lucky to get a point... I suspect Alloa will sit in & stifle us & we will be unable to break them down; they will then pick us off on the break.

    Think we need to get back to having players in correct positions so for the squad we have probably a 352 suits us as well as anything.
    We have a few central defenders and fullbacks who can play as wingback too,also been thinking a lot about our lack of goals and thought back to last season where we had two guys who scored 27 goals between them and we haven't really used them to effect this season.
    My team would be
    Mccallum
    Hackett Neil Gordon
    Mullin Telfer Fuzzy Stanton Longridge
    White Mullen
    4-1 Livi Fg 11 mins

    2-0 Alloa, FG 53 mins. As I said on P&B, I have to question the players' mentality when it comes to games like this (consciously or subconsciously, who knows).

    Would love to be proved wrong, though.

    I'd go for;

    McCallum

    Halkett   Gordon    Neill    Longridge

    Mullin    Fozzy     Stanton    Kakay

        Sheerin     Buchanan

    Halkett & Mullin on one wing and Longridge & Kakay on the other looked good against Hibs. Sheerin & Buchanan scored all 3 goals the last time we played Alloa away, and Buchanan is used to playing there so should be an advantage to him.

    Subs to come on 2nd half:

    Telfer, White, Pittman/Mullen.
    ===========================================================================================
    After this game i'd like to see more of a players in their proper positions line up, like;

    McCallum

    Kakay Halkett Gordon Longridge

    Mullin Fozzy Stanton Telfer

    Buchanan/Sheerin White/Sheerin

    I know Buchanan and White are our best two strikers but Sheerin partnering one of them might start getting us goals as the two of them playing together isn't producing much just now.

    White has scored quite a few goals v Alloa
    Hat-trick at Livi also two against them in the final, some players have a team that they get a turn against and this game could get the Bigman on the goals again.

    Not at Alloa's ground he hasn't though, his hattrick was at Livi, and his two goals in the final at Perth was from the subs bench.

    Willing to bet Buchanan has scored more goals on their plastic pitch than anyone in the league just now. He scored twice against us in the 2-2 draw and another in their 1-0 win at Indodrill last season, as well as 2 for us in our 3-0 win earlier in the season.

    Maybe We need to get back to the strike force that did us well last season
    Mullen 12 goals
    White 15 goals
    Not a bad return and they could play together as they proved

    So dissapointing to see so many Livi fans on the various forums going for an Alloa win tommorow althogh understandable.We need to get that all important first goal to let the team settle down albiets not going to be that simple.Hopefully Hoppy,s tried some training on a narrowed pitch to give the guys an idea of what their gonna have to deal with tommorow.I know games are running out but a couple of decent results could turn our season around.Im trying my best to be a wee bit optomistic here because dissapointing Saturdays are starting to wear a bit thin for all of us. Anyways i,l be there tommorow to give the lads my support, i suggest yous do the same.Cmon the Lions .DO IT.

    Yeah but Mullen has been injured for a good part of the season and not back to his best, and Buchanan has scored twice as many goals as White, seriously want to drop the player who has scored most of our goals and has been the only one who has scored in our last 8 games, plus the most likely to score on that plastic pitch?

    Who knows with Hopkin though, he just may be crazy enough to play Mullen up front by himself again, and drop both White and Buchanan.

    haha like your style mate , yeah we never know what team will be put out on the park however White has score 8 this season and Buchanan 10 so not that much difference.
    Mullen has played recently and has had more recent game time than Sheerin, White and Mullen have proved they are probably the best partnership between the four strikers so that's my thought process in saying we should give them a wee run of starts together to gel this season as they did last season.

    The major flaw in your argument for White/Mullen is that it is based on last season. The only combination I've seen this season that has looked any good has been White/Sheerin but I wasn't at Alloa so possibly Buchanan/Sheerin would work (although I'm sure one of them came on as a sub?) however Sheerin has had very little (if any) game time since Hoppy took over

    Bad news is that Hubs are blowing it big time at Dumbarton, scummy gits. Beat Hearts in the cup and they think they are great and haven't kicked a ball since.
