He was voted St Johnstone's PoTY in his first season there.

I felt he was poor in his last season with us but then he wasn't being paid by Massone and with all the shit going on you couldn't blame him for not giving his all.

Dave Mackay at his poorest was still better than someone like Johnny Brown or Mike Mampuya.

Sorry to hear about Dave Mackay retiring due to injury.Tremendous player for us ,Should have probably been at a higher level than when he played for us.Seem to recall a few Livi fans had him in their all time best 11 for Livi, for me that says it all.Wish him well in his future endevours and thank him for the memories he gave all of us.

Says it all that he's been our best RB in the past decade or so, despite playing in sides that: suffered relegation with a miserable points total; flopped by finishing mid-table in a fairly awful First Division at the time; were besmirched by the maniacal behaviour of Massone.

Deservedly stepped up to the top flight after he left us and I'm glad he added a major honour to his list of honours. A good guy off the pitch and consummate professional on it. How we could do with a RB like him, even now.

Ben Gordon on loan to Alloa till January, say what you like about him but this will strengthen Alloa's defence. He's a bit slow but solid enough and in a crowded box he is really good at getting himself in front of shots at goal.

It will also allow Goodwin to go back into their midfield which will also strengthen them, he was dodgy in defence but is a good holding midfielder.

A dust bin painted in Livi colours would have been better than Mike.

Interesting that Gordon got a move to St Mirren but couldn't get a game & has now dropped a level to where he should probably be anyway.

Gives Alloa a very experienced defence but a very slow one (in the centre anyway) - not sure he adds anything to what they had against us really....having said that, good point about releasing Goodwin to be a holding midfielder LF, that could be the reasoning.

Ever wonder why Plymouth signed Marc McCallum?

Turns out it was all thanks to a guy playing Football Manager. Wonder how it worked out for him.

    Pretty interesting article: https://www.theguardian.com/football/the-set-pieces-blog/2016/sep/29/football-manager-2017-sport-plymouth-argyle?utm_content=buffera6a2d&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

Went down to watch Plymouth last month, don't even think McCallum was on the bench even though he was out warming up before the game. Gary Miller was playing though and looked decent.

See Lewis Allen is now an ex-lion. Still mystified why we took him in the first place

At least we only had him on loan and weren't stuck with him for the season, we've not really got any passengers this season. Still hoping Carrick shows his worth now he's had some games in the Development team after coming back from his injured hand. Could do with him coming on as sub and scoring some goals to put pressure on Mullen and Buchanan, just to keep them on their toes.

Would be good if we could get into a 3 goal lead with around half an hour left; then he could be brought on with a bit of time and no real pressure other than to add to the score.

Neither Allen nor Orr really brought much to the table. They didn't get a lot of game time but neither did they maximise their contribution to the cause during what little time they were given.

Matt Gould played in Stourbridge's 1-0 shock over Northampton last night.

There's a chance they could be in the cup longer than Man City...

All the football superstars moving to China for £50 million have been joined by an ex-Livi legend star player.

Andy McNeil has joined the Chinese Super League taking a coaching role with Guangzhou R&F.

David Robertson's career probably over after being found guilty of rape.

On a related note, ignoring what any normal club would do, it'd be bizarre if David Goodwillie is punted from Plymouth after this, despite them signing convicted killer Luke McCormack.

Without wanting to be pedantic I believe you can only be "guilty" in a criminal case. This was a civil action and therefore the case was found proven.

It makes a difference as, I believe, the people in question will not find themselves on the Sex offenders list etc. hence they cannot be "sacked" on that basis alone. It depends on their contract but many have an additional clause about bringing the club into disrepute etc. but that would be equally challenging seeing as how, it is understood, the event occurred prior to them signing up with their new clubs?

Bobby Barr rifles in a 25 yarder at Tynecastle to put Raith 1 up in the cup.

Hadn't realised he'd signed for Raith

I see Snoddy is on the verge of a move to Burnley after Hull accepted 10 Million for him....

    10 Mill for accepting relegation.

West Ham have also had a bid accepted. If I was Snoddy, I'd be thinking West Ham as they are a bigger club than the others & at his age he probably won't get another opportunity to sign for anyone bigger, except maybe Everton but they aren't in the running.

IMO he deserves a bigger stage than Burnley, who are likely to be involved in the relegation battle next season assuming they don't drop into it this season.

He has become the stand out player at each of his clubs down south but they have all been yo yo sides (or the sleeping giant that is Leeds), it would be good for him to get a wee bit of career security with a side that is pretty well stabilised in the top flight.
