Re: Betfred Group Games
Reasonably entertaining first half with the Lions just shading it.Both goalkeepers helping to nullify the scoreline, especially Hutton in the Airdrie goal.Reckon if we score first this lot will wilt. Can see Pitts and Proplatnik coming on 2nd half.Airdrie no pushovers tbf.

Comfortable win in the end for the Lions but fair dos to Airdrie for making a game of it,well for 60 mins anyway.I wish them well for the season.Wee Forrest superb and good to see big JET get off the mark with a double.Keeps the momentum going for next weeks crucial game against St Midden. The aim was to top this group and weve done it so well done lads. For me this cup is a bonus, but we all know where our true aspirations lie.Got to improve our league position which is more important.

Re: Betfred Group Games
I thought Airdrie probably deserved to take the lead but with us turning it around so quickly they were floored & it ended up a comfortable win in the end.
Alan Forrest has been a tremendous signing, IMO he’s got the potential to go all the way so we might as well enjoy him while he is here. His first goal today was outstanding, his second was composed. JET doesn’t work as hard as Dykes did but then he’s a good bit older. Took a decent pen & had good presence of mind to get his second after his initial flick was blocked.
Liam Buchanan grabbed a second half hat trick in 14 mins for Alloa as they too fired in 4 second half goals to turn around their game against Stenhousemuir.

Phew, took us going a goal behind to waken up, comfortable win in the end and good to see JET scoring his first goal, then getting another.
Think Forrest is on 8 goals now, another great signing.

Yep, good draw for us, Forrest hattrick against his old club would be nice.

Likely teams to progress in bold, wouldn't mind Hearts at home in the next round if we both do win. No real financial benefit in drawing the two really big teams away, with no fans being allowed in to the grounds, so hoping we can get the best draws possible to progress to the semis. And then who knows.
Hearts would also be a big enough team to get us our game televised, and the added cup tv revenue for the club, they prob wouldn't bother with our game if we got the Pars or Motherwell, and i'd rather avoid the erse cheeks, our bogey team Aberdeen, and Hibs.

Re: Betfred Group Games
Hearts would be a big enough game to get it televised depending in the other matches that came out of the draw.... the only guaranteed televised game is to be paired with one of the gruesome twosome.

Re: Betfred Group Games
Yeah but i'm sure the quarters get 3 televised games, remember ours was the only one not picked one year, think it was when we played Hibs away, the season we were on the Championship. Knowing our luck it'll be Dunfermline v Hibs that gets picked and us v Hearts will be the only one not televised.

Re: Betfred Group Games
Aberdeen v Celtic is a certainty, it'll be like that time we played the sheep 7 times in the one season, incl a Scottish cup replay. Hibs v Dundee is funny after just playing them in the group stages too, my prediction for the next round draw is.
Celtic v Aberdeen
Motherwell v Sevco (their game being away just so their fans can moan about Celtic being at home)
Hibs v Dunfermline
Livi v Hearts (though i'm prob being a tad optimistic here thinking we'll not be playing at Tynnie)
Lets see how mystic LF does here.

Re: Betfred Group Games
Mystic LF's crystal ball was on the blink then.
Alloa knocked out Hearts in ET and St Johnstone beat Motherwell.
The rest of the games went to plan, US, Hibs, Pars going through, but Aberdeen are currently drawing 1-1 with St Mirren so still all to play for there.
On what we know so far i'd love Alloa next round, don't want either Aberdeen or St Mirren in whoever wins their match, we've not done well against them, St Johnstone would also be 50/50, and would prefer avoiding Hibs and the erse cheeks too. So either Alloa or Dunfermline would be great.

Aberdeen crashed out too so you’re at 50/50 now I think... no doubt the gruesome twosome will boost your final tally to 5 out of 8

Ross County winning 1-0 at HT, another cup shock on the way?
All seems to be falling apart for Celtic this season, just hope they don't get rid of Lennon before we play them.

2-0 County now, bit of a bummer if this is the straw that gets Lennon sacked, with us playing them in 3 games time.

Another good draw for us, of all the Premiership clubs left we know we can beat Ross County, and have them at home.

Re: Betfred Group Games
Ah but they just won at the home of the treble treble winners thus ending the march to the quintuple treble before they have even completed the quadruple treble... it won’t be easy but it’s definitely winnable.

Re: Betfred Group Games
Knew you'd look for some negative in the draw Bertie.
Hibs beat both Glasgow erse cheeks before we beat them in the cup final, with them thinking it was a foregone conclusion winning the cup. Even though we'd beaten Hibs a couple of times that season. We've also won at home against County already, and drawn away, in our 2 league games against them.
We've struggled and lost twice to St Mirren, away and home, totally gubbed off Hibs, and the way Sevco is playing i def didn't fancy being drawn against them, so as i said in my prev post, out of all the Premiership teams left, County were the one we wanted, when we didn't get Alloa or Dunfermline, esp at home.
