Sevco tried to sign him, so sounds promising, He's scored 7 goals and 5 assists in League 2 Div 2 for Villa, so hopefully he'll have plenty of confidence to carry that on at Livi.

Also read he's an off the cuff player that likes to just go at defenders, a decent flair player. Much the same as Nouble, will Martindale allow them both the freedom to express themselves though, Dick Campbell did with Nouble and it really helped him explode into the Championship. Fans love players like that, gets you on the edge of your seat whenever you see them on the ball.

Could have an exciting attack with any 3 from Nouble, Forrest, Anderson, Bailey & Chuckwuemeka, all pacy, direct, flair players. Big Nouble will be our out ball to get it up the pitch for 2 of the other front 3. Added with Pittman from midfield, who is excellent at getting on the end of balls across the 6 yard box.

Yeh,all looks promising L/F.Should provide competition for starting places.Certainly looking decent up front as well.Gives me a wee sense of optimism for the remainder of the campaign. Still need to work for it though. 👍.

Some encouraging comments from John McGlynn and Christophe Berra about Joel Nouble. https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/sport/football/2907927/arbroath-joel-nouble-raith-rovers-dick-campbell-manager-of-the-year/

Rovers boss McGlynn is fulsome in his appreciation of the powerhouse forward, insisting there are few attackers that possess Nouble’s heady mix of pace, physicality and potency in the final third.
“It’s incredibly difficult to replace Joel Nouble,” McGlynn told Courier Sport. “There aren’t many footballers going around like him.

“He absolutely bullied central defenders for the whole first half of the season.

“[Raith veteran] Christophe Berra, a top defender, said he was as difficult an opponent as he’s played against, with that physicality and intensity he brings to the game.

A few reports going about saying Fitzwater is being scouted by English clubs, biggest one is Newcastle looking at offering 1M pounds for him. Shocked

He's really come into his own this season so hopefully if we do sell him, we'll make sure we get him back on loan for the remainder of the season, giving us plenty of time to find a replacement. Or see if our new CB signing from Liverpool is up to stepping into the team next season.

Yeah, I find that hard to believe, he’s probably having his best spell with us but I wouldn’t say he was capable of stepping up to the EPL just yet.

Sebastian Soto on loan from Norwich, young USA player.

Sounds a promising signing, striker with a good pedigree that has scored goals from US U17's through to full international level. Martindale is certainly coming up with interesting loan signings from EPL teams.

He added: “He was one of the top scorers in the 2019 Under-20 World Cup and is someone who is a really top prospect.

“He can play anywhere across the front three and is lightning quick. He has great movement and is a great finisher and we’re delighted to have him at the club.”

Wow, can't wait to see how he does for us.

Keags away to Falkirk on loan; glad he’s going for his sake, he’s too good a player to be keeping our dug out seats warm.

Yeah there isn't a place for him now with Omeonga, Pitts and Holt in midfield, and even Jack McMillan doing so well when he plays there.

What’s the chance we lose Omeonga to another team before the deadline or would he turn down a move like Forrest? Presumably moving to St Johnstone was not an attractive proposition but we could still lose him to someone else. Plenty of cover for Forrest but Omeonga would be a problem to fill.

Got another year on his contract still, so would have to be a hell of an offer. Just enjoying watching him while he's here, some player.

Makes you wonder what other gems are out there for Martindale to find, hopefully Soto will be one too.

Article in today’s Daily Record about all the candidates for the Aberdeen managers job.
The conclusion was the best candidate was David Martindale!

Don't think he is even considered as one by Aberdeen though, if we're going down that road Pep Guardiola would be the best candidate. Wink

Seriously though, wonder how they figure that out, he's a perfect fit for Livi, but he's had years and years developing here, and the whole structure is built around him now, would be a completely different scenario at Aberdeen, and of course, expectation level there is increased quite a bit, with them expecting 3rd place and even competing for 2nd.

I think they've been spoilt when Sevco were playing in the lower leagues, and McInnes had them 2nd and 3rd place, its went to their heads thinking they should still be there. Their fans esp got bored with McInnes, and now think they're something special that deserve better than he's given them*, i think they're in for a reality check now, and will struggle for a few seasons trying to get a manager that can even get them back to where McInnes had them when they punted him.

*happens to us all btw, Livi fans are the same with Martindale, the second we were struggling there were calls for him being punted. Some even expect us to be top 6 every season now, and anything less is a failure. Hell last season was seen by some as a failure for not getting a European spot and having a poor run after the cup final defeat. Course it was disappointing losing the final and not getting 5th place, but overall it was an amazing season. They're in for a shock when Martindale does finally leave Livi, we're punching well above our weight even being in the top flight with the fanbase we have, bigger clubs with 4 or 5 times our support are struggling in the Championship, and even League One.

Not that it matters anymore with Goodwin installed at Pittodrie but I don’t know if you mean the actual paper or the online version - I’ve just looked at the Daily Record on line & there was an article about 8 potential candidates, the article did not mention Martindale at all never mind suggest he was the best candidate. It mentioned Goodwin as probably the best young coach in the league at the moment.

It was a shortened version of the article you read written by a different reporter and he was suggesting that although Martindale was not being considered the reporter was saying that Martindale would be a better choice. It was a two page article on the new manager and the bit I am referring to was on the last column of the right hand page.
They obviously don’t put everything online.

Thanks, stopped reading the paper years ago cause it literally made up the stories it was publishing. They didn’t do thorough fact checking & fabricated parts entirely.

I rarely look at the website because it crashes frequently.

JET's contract has been terminated at Aberdeen, wonder if it would be worth our while taking him on for the last 5 games, JET, Nouble and Forrest in a front 3 could be pretty good. JET is a slow fecker but has some build on him, and a wicked shot, just what we're needing, with Nouble there to get the ball to him around the box and Forrest doing the leg work chasing about.

Not for me I'm afraid. He took a chance leaving us at the time. And its not worked out for him.Reckon he'll head back down south.Think Davie will have his eye on another back up striker, but I doubt it will be Jet.

Doubt DM has his eye on signing any back up striker this season, this is an opportune signing though, just for 5 games, if he's allowed to play now he's got freedom of contract. Just what we're needing imo, someone with good shooting skills, just need to get the ball to him, and with Nouble in the team we'd def do that. Also would be esp motivated to score against Aberdeen, absolute nap he'd play well against them.

I see DM is in an article saying Poplatnik's recent good form at Raith has given him food for thought on extending his contract for next season, always liked Pops, thought he was very similar to Robbo, and would be a good squad player to have next season.

Interesting that Poplatnik, Reilly, and Mullin are all blank in the OS squad photos, looks like all 3 are earmarked for being punted next season, but maybe Poplatnik will be saved now.

I'm wondering about Sibbald. I'd like us to keep him but he's being given very little game time which leads me to think he's for the off. When he's fit he is a real asset to the team but he's had an awful time with injuries and illness. I suppose that will a factor in any decision made about him.
