Scottish Cup 3rd Round - Peterhead vs. Livi

Draw is due to take place tomorrow (Thursday 28th) at 10am. Not too sure how it works regarding seedings but who would you take?

Don't want Annan away (bad record in cup games there), not fussed who else we play. Would like a home game but we're maybe better playing away (apart from Annan), done well in cup games away from home this season, so far anyway.

At least we'll avoid playing Clyde. Surely must've been a first if two teams played each other in the three competitions?

No seeding in the Scottish Cup, all go in the same hat.

Would like to go somewhere I haven't before so any of Stirling Albion (if they beat East Fife), Arbroath, Montrose or any of the non-SPFL clubs would be good.

Failing that any other winnable tie will do.

Peterhead away

Peterhead away. Beat them there in a cup we went on to win last season, not saying we're winning the Scottish Cup this season, but win this tie and its basically job done.

Stinker of a draw as it will be a really tough game compared to some of the diddies we could have got. We are still yet to score there in 90 minutes.

Tough draw, McAllister is always a goal threat, Gordon & Gallagher should be able to handle him though.

Let's not forget they absolutely pumped Falkirk a few weeks back. A very difficult tie and as EL points out, we've still yet to score there in 90 minutes. Gutted we never got Linlithgow or LTHV, something a bit different would've been nice.

I've just clocked that Peterhead won 7-0 against Cowden at the weekend. Now, Cowden aren't anything of note right enough but Peterhead are in imperious form, having reached the Challenge Cup final a few weeks back too. They'll be bouncing, and probably looking at causing an upset here. That said, we've got a bit of form behind us, and seem to be onto a bit of a winner with the starting XI we have at the moment. It'll be a tough game, and a tight one at that, but one which I think we'll get through. 1-0 Livi, 76 mins.

Genuinely think we'll get spanked in this one. We have a horrendous record against lower league teams, especially away from home. Plus, other than the 2009/10 season and Irvine Meadow in 2011, I think we've got beaten first time every other season since 2008.

No shock in this one: 3-1 to Peterhead, FG 22 mins.

Still think our defence will be able to handle them, the back 3 have really settled in playing together. Our front line will also cause them huge problems, which will take the heat of our defence too, can't attack when we're pinning them back.

Think it'll be tight but we'll get through, optimistic 2-0 Livi, FG 55 mins.

Gutted I can't make it to this one. That said, with our record in the cups (barring last season's challenge cup), and our inability to score at Balmoor in 90 mins, I can see us struggling here.

1-1, FG 38 mins.

Don't think we'll struggle as much as last season, I think we've a stronger front line this season. And having either Buchanan or Sheerin coming off the subs bench 2nd half also gives us a further goal threat.

Just need to make sure we don't get slack in defence or we'll be punished, sure our back 3 will hold up fine though.

Agree with LiviLion's assessment but I think we have a good defence now. So 0-0 and a replay back as the Vale

Nope; its got 0-0 written all over it; they just scored 7 so they are unlikely to score this week & we haven't scored in 90 mins up there; it will be a bitterly cold day in the Blue Toon & we'll fail to score as well after such a tremendous effort against the Huns & to a lesser extent Hubs. We always play poorly after doing well against the "better" sides.

Read McInally saying they're struggling for defenders for this game and he'll have to shift players around to cover defensive positions. Couple of injuries and several players on loan that aren't being permitted to play in the cup by their parent clubs.

Still expect it to be a tough game and that we'll need to work hard to get a result here. Leighton McIntosh scored a hattrick last week so isn't just McAllister we'll have to watch.
