They should be bending over backwards to sort this issue now that we've gone out of our way to sort the ownership issue (how many people tend to want to bid for football clubs?) and it just seems like they aren't trying their arse. They're contributing to extending a loss of earnings and competitiveness.

I hope Afro won't mind me changing the thread title to encapsulate the whole discussion.

Batter on mate, think it was wishful thinking in my part initially to think there'd be transfer rumours this summer...

Whilst I agree that Rankine's influence has been completely overblown and the embargo is excessive, I can see why the SFA handed down the punishment. We should know more than most to cover our backs but we never learn, hopefully Ford being on board is a push towards a more transparent and well-run club. One can dream. No

Is that any worse than having a failed painter and decorator, who is banned from being a company director, holding 20% of the shares?

Gordon Ford has been confirmed as Livingston’s new largest shareholder.

Ford, the former Deputy Chief Executive of West Lothian Council has purchased 40 per cent of the
    club’s shares.

Neil Hogarth and Graham Leslie have both purchased 20 per cent each, while Ged Nixon still has 20 per cent of the total shares.

And Ford said the new regime are ready to get to work and hopes the transfer ban can be lifted early next week.

Speaking exclusively to Courier Sport, he said: “The club have complied with the SFA over the share issue but they are still asking for more information.

“We are ready to go and get to work as an organisation and we’re hoping the issues can all be resolved and sorted by early next week.”

He also confirmed that former majority shareholder Neil Rankine has left the club, saying: “Some people seem to be questioning whether or not Neil Rankine has left the club. He absolutely has done.

“He will always have an interest in Livingston because he spent a lot of time and money on the club, but he has absolutely no say in the running of the club.”

Ford, who worked with chairman Gordon McDougall to set up the Livingston Youth Foundation in 2012 also confirmed negotiations are underway to purchase the stadium.

He said: “We’ve set up a stadium company and we are currently in negotiations with West Lothian Council over purchasing the stadium.

“We’d like to go down a similar path to what there is between Broadwood and Clyde FC whereby the club have use of the stadium and it can be used for the community as well.”

He added: “We’ll be looking at bringing in a 3G surface and that will allow more people to use the facility.”

McDougall, Carolyn Sumner and Andy Gemmell currently remain the club’s three directors, but that situation could change over the coming weeks and has been complicated by McDougall being on holiday.

But Forde insisted the club are ready to move forward and put a challenging spell behind them.

He said: “Livingston is a great club and has a lot of potential.

“We hope we can work towards fulfilling that potential and we, as an organisation, are keen to get things moving in the right direction.”

If this guy Ford has the majority shares and worked with McDougall setting up the youth foundation, I wonder why McDougall feels he has to leave.

Sounds promising about the stadium and pitch being made more use of, bloody thing has been a white elephant draining money from us. Looks like this guy has ideas and enthusiasm anyway, just hope they're for the long term best interests in the club and not some hidden agenda.

Yep, got to echo what Liviforever is saying. Positive words but we've heard it so many times before.

If they can at least get the simple things right like interning a marketing & social media person, that would be an excellent start.

Spoke too soon - looks like Darren Cole is staying for the coming season, good news if so! Also seems remarkably upbeat considering he's joining a side with three players.

Livingston's new largest shareholder Gordon Ford has urged the Scottish Football Association to swiftly lift the club's transfer embargo.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33104891
"It's time for a really firm foundation at Livingston Football Club and we want to be known for football on the back pages, not court cases and tribunals."

    Amen to that.

True - although Beaumont's still on the OS yet we've been told he's been released?

Wasn't a fan of him at RB but thought he was decent at centre back. Pre-season starts this week and we've not even enough players to field a squad.

Yeah had a good run in at RB for us and was pretty decent in our last few games playing there. Up till then I wasn't to keen on him playing RB.

Good luck to the lad at Dunfermline, he has been here a while and worked his way into the team from the youth team via a spell out on loan, and wasn't a quitter like some of our youth players.

Seems a little bit strange that 2 of the players who kept us up have chosen to drop a division.

I know the future remains uncertain while we can't sign players, but dropping a division?

Had he spoken to them letting either of them know he wanted them for next season or even if they are affordable with the budget he's been given, who knows!

Until the embargo is lifted players will get edgy about hanging about waiting and the closer to pre season training/games we get the likelier they are to sign up to anyone making an offer.

Mullen, Cole and perhaps Gallagher* should be playing for us, which is a good start, but still nervy about another team signing them if this embargo isn't lifted soon.

*Not heard any more about his sentence when he was found guilty a few weeks ago.
