I don't disagree I'm simply stating what their status is as far as UEFA is concerned.

Re: 2017/18 Ins and Outs Thread
Scott McDonald is looking for a club, his move back to Australia fell through and he's open to any offers. Don't know if he'd consider the wages we're offering right enough but it would be worth a try, the nearer we are to the league starting players get desperate to sign up just to play football.
Reckon he'd score 15+ goals in the Championship which would be enough to have us challenging for a top 4 spot.

He's getting on a bit but can certainly find the net regularly. I suspect it would be his motivation levels that would play a part in him deciding to step down a level, if such a move were feasible for us.

Would certainly take him, but we're getting a bit heavy on strikers at the moment... 9 out of our 23-man squad are technically strikers, albeit we're playing Knox & De Vita a bit further back. If we lose Mullen then we'll need a replacement, but could do with 1 or 2 of the younger guys going out on loan until Jan.

Would be another brilliant signing if we could afford him, wouldn't be too surprised to see Motherwell back in for him though. He'll be in the top flight if he stays in Scotland.

Re: 2017/18 Ins and Outs Thread
Just seen this on Knox and Mullen:
Livingston manager David Hopkin has revealed that highly-rated pair Matthew Knox and Danny Mullen are both on trial at English Championship outfit Cardiff City.
Playmaker Knox and striker Mullen joined up with Neil Warnock’s side on Wednesday and will remain in the Welsh capital until the Lions travel to the Cardiff City stadium for next Friday’s friendly.
Hopkin will be without both players for the forthcoming Betfred Cup matches against Airdrie and Stranraer.

Can't say I'm happy that we are weakened while 2 players are on trial.
Surely they could have been watched during the 2 competitive matches up here & then in the friendly

Re: 2017/18 Ins and Outs Thread
I don't think we would've released them if we hadn't already played two of the 'bigger' teams in St Mirren and Partick. Cardiff must be taking a serious interest in them if they want Mullen and Knox down there for the best part of 10 days. I can understand and agree with the frustration but there's more to see in a player than two games against very mediocre opposition.

Re: 2017/18 Ins and Outs Thread
Taking things to extremes if Cardiff pitched in with a offer of £500k for both the players (a drop in the ocean for a championship side) that would be equivalent to us selling an additional 2000 season tickets.
Absolutely mind boggling though when you look at some of the ridiculous sums currently being paid in the English Premiership for what are basically fairly mediocre players

If they offered us even near that we should snap their hand off. Although let's be serious, if an offer were to come in we aren't talking that kind of money.
Did Warnock not take Coll Donaldson for 150k when he was gaffer at QPR? So who knows, anything is possible.

Re: 2017/18 Ins and Outs Thread
Joe McKee went for about 200K a good few years back and hadn't even played in our first team, surely Knox is worth more than that with the hype he's been getting. No idea what Mullen would get, we sold Griffiths for a song and he was the best striker we've ever had come from the youth team, but that was under the asset stripping Italian bassa who's name should never be mentioned without spitting on the ground afterwards.

Re: 2017/18 Ins and Outs Thread
Didnt falkirk and Hamilton manage to sell players for £800 - £900k a few years back?
Unfortunately it does seem the rest of the world consider us the pound shop of football players when it comes to transfers

I think McKee went for £50k, could be wrong but I certainly don't remember it being £200k

Re: 2017/18 Ins and Outs Thread
Chat on P&B that Ryan is on 1300 quid a week at Airdrie and is wanting the same at Livi, that isn't likely to happen or we'd have kept Buchanan.
Russell and another couple of players were on similar wages last season, neither wonder they're in trouble and desperate for somebody to buy Ryan off them. At those wages though it isn't going to be a Championship team.
Dundee Utd have signed Scott McDonald so doubt they'll be looking at another striker now either, they're prob the only ones paying those kind of wages in the 2nd tier.

Re: 2017/18 Ins and Outs Thread
The Betfred Cup run has given Hopkin funds to sign up another 2 players. He says he has targets, wonder who they'll be.
Think we could do with a CB to replace Crighton, plenty cover up front and in midfield but wouldn't say no to a decent striker. No point signing one who isn't better than the ones we already have.

Wonder why they weren't put out on loan to a League One team, Ogilvie certainly looks like he should be playing at a higher level than Junior football, not sure he'll benefit much from that.

Didn't do Scott Pittman any harm playing in juniors, although admittedly he was a higher level than Pumphy

Re: 2017/18 Ins and Outs Thread
Pittman had the ability, just as Ogilvie seems to have, but playing at a Junior level didn't enhance it or even make it easier for him to play at this level. When Pittman came to Livi he had to train hard to get up to speed, admittedly part of that is going from PT to FT and training as a FT player, so at least our on loan players will train at Livi as well as their on loan clubs.
Surely it is best to have our on loan players playing as near to the level as our first team players as possible, so they can come back ready to get games in the first team. Ogilvie has already played at Championship and League One level with Livi, and didn't look out of place in our team.

Re: 2017/18 Ins and Outs Thread
Can understand the pair of them going out on loan, realistically neither of them were going to get a look in given who is in front of them. Personally, I can see the logic of someone like Sampson going to the Juniors, but surely Ogilvie is good enough for a team like Stenhousemuir or Edinburgh City? He certainly didn't look out of place when he filled in at points last season.
Hopefully the pair of them don't end up like the rest of our youth players who went out to Junior teams on loan...

Re: 2017/18 Ins and Outs Thread
Looks like our cup run is allowing Hoppy to strengthen our squad.
Joe Thomson joins us on loan from Celtic, dunno anything about him but from Hoppy's description he sounds like he'll be a good allrounder in midfield for us to use when we're needing to rotate players to rest them a bit. Plenty cover in midfield anyway, and all good quality players.

Re: 2017/18 Ins and Outs Thread
The rave reviews from Dumbarton and QoS fans suggest we've got a cracking player on loan here, that will be a starting player for us. He'll have to go some to replace Keaghan, Byrne or Pittman, might be used on the wing right enough as he seems versatile. Robinson has started really well for us too and with Mullin, Cadden, Rafa and Longridge also looking to play we've plenty depth to our team that are all good quality players.

He better be better than those guys, IMO our midfield was fine, so he better be clearly better.

Well that's the Andy Ryan coming to Livi rumours been put to bed, Dunfermline have just signed him. Certainty to score against us in our next game against them.
