Dunfermline have quite a few strikers. They'll need to keep them all happy.

They've also sold near enough 3000 season tickets so they've got a lot more resources to give Airdrie a decent fee and pay the player wages which folk are saying are way out of our budget.

I'd have liked to have got him but I'd rather we live within our means.

Apparently we just missed out on him, as Dunfermline's gate receipts from their League Cup game away to Rangers tipped it in their favour. Fair enough. I'd rather we lived within our means and didn't risk a fair bit on a player who is undoubtedly quality, but ultimately, untested at this level.

Absolutely certainty to score against us, too.

Another loan deal secured, James Penrice from Jaggy Thistle, was on loan at East Fife last season.

If we're struggling with a left sided CB with Lithgow injured on Tues he'll prob be in there tomorrow. Otherwise he'll be competition for Jacko as a left wing back.

Forfar Athletic are delighted to have come to an agreement with Livingston whereby last season’s top scorer Josh Peters is to return to the club on a temporary transfer till mid January.

Is that the same as an on loan deal, never seen it put as a temporary transfer before.

A bit disappointed he's not been given a chance yet, isn't as if our strikers have been setting the heather on fire to keep him out the team. Hopefully he scores a lot of goals for Forfar and Hoppy lets him have a chance to see if he can do the same for us when he comes back.

Have to agree; we never really saw enough of him to assess him fairly but, from what I saw, I thought he added a bit of aggression to our forward line.

Only saw him for 15 minutes against Kilmarnock and he done more then than Mackin has in several appearances since. If we're viewing him as a long-term prospect, great, unfortunately for us it means we don't really have a goalscorer in the traditional sense in the squad now. A sign of maybe someone else coming in?

Rumoured to be signing Scott McKenna on loan from Aberdeen, that'll be the CB cover we've been needing since Crighton left then.

Still to be officially confirmed but I heard on my car radio we'd signed Jack McMillan on loan from Motherwell, a 19yo defender. Would think he'll be cover for any suspensions or injuries to our back 3.

Confirmed on the OS now: http://livingstonfc.co.uk/jack-mcmillan-arrives-loan/

Gives us options on the right hand side to either play RB, WB or right sided CB.

After 25 days and a staggering 193 minutes game time, Joe Thomson has returned to Celtic as he wasn't going to get the game time he would have liked.

Hmm, strange one. Didn't look too bad against St Mirren, thought he just needed time to settle in. Leaves us short of CMs I'd say, unsure if Robinson is fancied in that role and Brown seems to be injured, still.

Was an unused sub in the Brechin City game; started against Morton and St Mirren; then came on as a sub against Morton (again); wasn't in the TNS game so assume he was already away.

Just how much extra playing time did he need/expect? For a twenty year old seems a bit young to be such a prima dona.

He didn't bring much to the party as far as I could see, had 1 decent shot and 1 decent pass. We have better players here already. Until the post about him going back I'd forgotten he existed!

Yep, gave away the ball that led to St Mirren's first goal, didn't see anything special about the lad. I'd rather Knox got some game time tbh.

Noticed Jack Hamilton has joined Penicuik on loan. With him, Peters & Sampson all off on loan, I wonder if we'll be bringing another striker in on a loan/ free.

Unless it is a proven goal scorer at this level or some youngster with fantastic potential that is tipped for great things then I don't see the point. We've 4 strikers and 3 out on loan, just need to hope Hartson can have some success coaching the strikers we have.

Mackin for his criticism is on 4 goals, keeps going like that and he could be a 15+ goal scorer this season.

    And Jack Ogilvie

Actually looking at Pumpheston FC's last game its more like a who's who of the Livi youth system with Neil Hastings; Jack Beaumont; Ogilvie and Sampson

A bit more on our emergency loan signing, sounds quite promising: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/local-sport/livingston-sign-steven-boyd-loan-11682669

Head coach David Hopkin said he was thrilled to get his man and admitted it had been in the works.
He said: “Once it was clear that Danny wanted to leave we had to work hard to bring someone in before we could let him go and Steven is someone I wanted last season. He played against us twice at Albion and I thought he was probably the best player on the park.
“I thought he had everything. Great feet, link-up play and vision so I’m delighted that we’ve been able to get him in to the club and I’m sure he’ll be a great addition to the squad.

Hoppy just plays players where he wants them to play. lol!

Penrice is a LB but is able to play in several left sided positions, I think Boyd is much the same, he can play attacking midfield or as a striker. Cadden has even been tried as a striker this season, and of course Toddy in defence, Mullin as a RB/wingback, Longridge as LM. Danny had also played in midfield and on the wing with us, as has Rafa.

    Mackin?

Boyd seems the same type of player Mullen is, which isn't a bad thing, we need his energy up front. Also see he likes to have a pop at goal from outside the box, both Mullen and Pittman used to do that but haven't this season for some reason, so would be good to see Boyd scoring some long range goals.
