Would have liked to have seen a loan signing in to give us some cover at RB/LB, preferably with us not having to pay their wages.

McHattie signs for Kilmarnock, never mind.
I was cautious but with the Rangers money, it's worth considering so long as the price is right. We are toiling at left-back if Longridge is injured.

An emergency loan till December.
Guess Gould isn't seen as good enough to get a game yet. Looks like DJ is going to be dropped against Alloa though, too many mistakes being made and Burchill must be under pressure to get points on the board.

Re: Transfer Rumours, Players In/Out
Why did he sign him if he isn't deemed good enough to play against Alloa who are part time FFS
A real slap in the face for Gould if that is the case.

Yeah we've been seeing DJ needed dropped about 5 games ago and found it bewildering why Gould wasn't getting a chance. All very strange as he was getting praise for attitude and work ethic. Maybe Burchill is 2 games away from being punted and didn't want to risk Gould, who knows.

Could DJ be injured?

Either way still must be a kick in the nuts to Gould if McCallum starts over him. If it is an injury then fair enough we'd need an emergency back up keeper but from what I've read McCallum is expected to start against Alloa.

Re: Transfer Rumours, Players In/Out
Arbroath fan describing him as average on P&B, looks like he conceded 22 goals in 15 games in League 2 last season getting 2 clean sheets too, not sure how true that is though.
If Gould doesn't start then Burchill must not rate him that much, despite how much he's been talked up since joining.

Very odd. Usually emergency loans are because of injury. Assuming it is an emergency loan of course.
Why no official club site info on it tho? It is the official Twitter feed. No explanation of why.
Gould has been talked up so you would think he would be the starter if DJ was to be dropped or was injured.

From Twitter

The McCallum loan deal at Livi is an emergency loan - so can be anywhere between 28 and 93 days. I'm told DJ is struggling with an injury.

Re: Transfer Rumours, Players In/Out
Gould may be on buttons but what's the point in signing him as backup (when we also have Quinn) and then proceed to bring in another keeper on loan?
Pissing away money on goalkeepers when we are toiling in wide positions.

Re: Transfer Rumours, Players In/Out
Weren't struggling on wide positions today with our 2 FB's getting down the wing and putting in good balls all game.
DJ was on the bench and was out doing warm ups at HT so wasn't injured. Solid performance from McCallum, kept it simple and didn't put a foot wrong.

Re: Transfer Rumours, Players In/Out
Agree with EL. Four keepers registered with at least three of them on our wage bill. Millen and Longridge haven't convinced me so far this season despite the result today. Burchill should've spent wisely for a talented squad rather than signing up anyone and everyone who turned up for training and impressed him after 5 mins. The day will come when we're playing a defence of Gibbons, Sives, Neill and Hippolyte with no midfield due to injuries/suspensions.

Re: Transfer Rumours, Players In/Out
That's good to hear they were solid today but Millen in particular has been suspect on occasion. My main gripe though is the lack of cover, particularly at left-back, which money on a backup keeper could have gone towards.

According to the official site McCallum is in to challenge DJ for the starting goalie role...so what is Gould doing?

Re: Transfer Rumours, Players In/Out
He was challenging DJ for the bombscare award today with his running out and trying to shield the ball to go out by the corner flag and then having to foul their player when he lost the ball. Luckily we had 3 players in the box so it was only a yellow card he got. He had another couple of heart in mouth moments with pass backs to him later when he was having to take a touch to put it onto his better foot and got closed down.
His first kick from his hands was terrible too but his 2nd near got us a goal when Buchanan almost got onto it inside the box.

Yeah totally agree mate, he looked as dodgy as DJ in fact he looked worse.Liviforever wrote:He was challenging DJ for the bombscare award today with his running out and trying to shield the ball to go out by the corner flag and then having to foul their player when he lost the ball. Re: Transfer Rumours, Players In/Out
Apparently, Hearts midfielder Kenny Anderson is training with us with a view to joining on loan.
IIRC he scored the winner against us last December when we played them at home.
Don't agree we need another midfielder, it's painfully obvious to everyone that we are woefully short of options out with the two starting full-backs.

Re: Transfer Rumours, Players In/Out
Says on his wiki he's only scored one goal for Hearts too.
Which players currently in our squad would we not miss?
I'm thinking Spas and maybe Cole, neither are playing a big enough part in our season. I'd have had Faria in there too but he's growing on me since the Sevco game.

Re: Transfer Rumours, Players In/Out
I'd say we have enough midfielders with Faria, Gibbons, Pittman, Cole, Currie and probably a couple of the other younger players able to fit in at CM.
Fullback is where we're struggling though, as soon as Millen or Longridge are injured/suspended we're struggling and playing guys out of position.

Unless we stick with 352; then we have plenty of options until one of the back 3 gets injured or suspended

Aye id stick with a back 3. 3 of the best defenders in the league back there in my opinion
