Re: Squad for 2019-2020
Gutted like most that Sarkic has been recalled but understandable from Villas situation.Ithank him for in no small way getting us in the position we find ourselves in and wish him every succsess for his future carreer.Cracking Goalie.Leaves a big hole for us to fill and hopefully the club will prioritise getting someone near to how good he was although it will be difficuilt. On a side note, will be keeping an eye on Raith in the run up to our cup tie. There doing well at the top of their league and face Peterhead at home today.Hope the lads enjoy La Manga and come back refreshed and ready to go again with hopefully no more outgoings from us.Iwish them well.

Re: Squad for 2019-2020
Andy Ryan going back to Airdrie on loan is interesting, wonder if we could turn his career around at Livi, just the kind of player we have managed to develop to their potential in the past.

Was wondering how long it would be before someone mentioned Andy Ryan.
He was and continues to be a sand-dancing waster. He had a good season with Airdrie but that was largely because he was being fed by Ian Russell and the other guy who's name escapes me.
In two and a half years with Dunfermline he's managed only about 42 games and scored a total of eight goals. As for our record of improving players we've generally not been too impressive on that regard; for every one player who's improved at our club you could probably mention three that haven't; that being said the majority of our players were picked up for peanuts; or were rejects or came with baggage - if they didn't work out what have we lost. Ryan would be different; he's already on a substantially better package than most of our team albeit that's probably not going to be renewed again.

Will be interesting to see how many "trialists" are in today's game. Hopefully one will score a hattrick

So you don't rate him then.
Would say being the Division's top goal scorer with dross like Airdrie was a bit more than a good season, esp with Buchanan scoring the amount he did with us, becoming our record top goal scorer for a season.
Halkett, Lithgow, Pittman, Mullin, Byrne, Kelly, we've done no bad in the improving players to bring out their potential. Noticed Byrne has really regressed since signing for Dundee too, doesn't look like a good move for him. Maybe Dunfermline is the same with Ryan.

Ah but then I could counter with Cadden; Carrick; Knox; Josh Peters; Todorov; Creighton; Knox; Morgyn Neil;
Liam Watt; Crane; Knox; Saunders; Wylde; Van Shaik and Matthew Knox. Yes; I know I said Knox several times - just because..
Not sure Byrne has really regressed but I do feel he felt he needed to move on with starting positions getting more and more rare.
Maybe Ryan could step up but I doubt it. remember he had five seasons with Hamilton, including two in the Premiership, but failed to hold down a first team place; he's done okay in the first division and basically that seems to be his level. There's rumours that he had a bit of an attitude problem in Dunfermline which may have resulted in him being on the bench several times.
Personally I'd be more tempted to give Ryan Hardie another go. I agree he was awful in the second half of the year with us but playing alongside someone with the speed and enthusiasm of Dykes might just spur him on. That being said I doubt it will happen now; it was quite obvious our management team had lost patience with him last year, meaning he found himself on the bench for a large part of the time, and I doubt they'd be prepared to give him another shot.

Re: Squad for 2019-2020
So three trialists; one of which we assume to be Ciaron Brown.
The second one was a replacement for Lawless so I would guess he was an attacking winger or even a forward assuming we kept the same structure.
The third trialist replaced Pittman so again probably a midfielder.

I'm reading that Brian Graham from Ross County could be signing for Partick. He is one who could potentially link well with Dykes. Worth a shot?

Appears to be still be playing for QotS, must be keeping him on loan for the full season.
Bertie Bassett wrote:Stobbs’ loan deal has ended and he has gone back to Wednesday
No great loss with him being out injured all the time, had a belting debut against County, and looked good when he came on in our home win against St Mirren too, but didn't make any impression after that.
I see Partick th and Dundee are after Forrest from Ayr Utd now, had to laugh when the article said BOTH of them would be wanting to push for promotion through the play offs, suppose wanting may be the key word on that sentence right enough, Thistle look more likely to be wanting to avoid the play offs down the other end going by their league position for the season so far. If he's got ambition it should be to play in the top flight with us then attract interest from a bigger club. Dundee are going nowhere this season, and neither will Ayr if he stays with them for the season. Too big a gap between Utd and the 3 play off teams, looks a weak chasing pack to beat the 2nd bottom Premiership team this season.

His old team mates Devlin and Crawford could help him settle in too.

Looks like it's happening, Forrest signed a PCA with Livi for next season. And Tiffoney is away to Ayr on loan for the rest of the season.

Where did you hear about the PCA? I’ve only heard via rumour - I’ve seen nothing remotely official (or even unofficially official)

Ayr advertiser, dunno if we'll see anything official about the PCA till it's a done deal in the summer and he's signed a proper contract.

Livingston have won the fight to land Alan Forrest on a pre-contract.
The Ayr winger turned down rival offers from Partick Thistle and Dundee and will step up to the Premiership in the summer.
It remains to be seen if Livi boss Gary Holt will try and do a deal to get the 23-year-old in immediately.
Forrest, brother of Celtic ace James, came through the youth ranks at Ayr.
Depends on whether you believe the Record though.

Rangers could make a deadline day move for Livingston striker Lyndon Dykes if they fail to land Albania striker Florian Kamberi on loan from Hibernian. (Scottish Sun, print edition)
Hope no!

Would be awful, especially on deadline day when we'll struggle to replace him on time.

We don't need him - we're going to sign up Gareth Bale on a 3 year deal....

Dolly is back, brilliant news imo. Really boosts the squad and gives us another option we didn't have, a bulldozer of a player who will give players like Pitts and Dykes more space to get us goals.

Dolly is back subject to international clearance... seems odd when he was our player out on loan.

Re: Squad for 2019-2020
Yep, back training next week so will maybe feature against Ross County, and then ICT in the cup game.
Could also maybe start him against ICT and rest up Dykes on the bench with us having a spell of midweek games coming up. So Dykes is a bit fresher for the following midweek game against St Mirren.
