It seems to me that the foundations of our succsesfull team are slowly being eroded what with Craig Declan and now Liam.As ive said previously reallity will start to kick in with these losses to the team and i certainly dont envy the job that Gary and Davie are going to have rebuilding.Maybe theve got people in mind and goes without saying il back their judgement in whoever pulls that shirt on.One things for sure its gonna be a helluva ride next season with our expectations surely to be the same as last, stay in the division!.More on that in the weeks to come.On a slightly more positive note, got my season ticket this afternoon and was told weve just about reached 300 renewals.Still early days but the club seem happy so far although we all this will rise significantly over the coming weeks.Any way back to the close season which sucks!Keep the faith.LOL.T!!

Yeah; we have been spoiled at the back for the last few seasons & now face a major restructure of the defence. Our great start to last season unrealistically raised expectations so hopefully our 9th place finish has restored a semblance of realism & we can once again focus on finishing 10th & retaining our status again.

IMO next season will be harder as we don’t even know if we will change our style along with the new personnel we will have in the team’s critical defensive positions & I expect Ross County to be much better than Dundee were (don’t forget that the worst team in the division took more points from us than we took from them) & I also expect Accies & StM to be better.

So it will be tough but if any group of players can do it, this group can.

Feck that, lets get a top 6 spot this time. bounce

Seriously though, I think Accies will struggle again, Motherwell will lose a few players, and Killie wont be as good after losing their manager and a few of their best players too, oh and Hearts are there for the taking, despite having a great player in defence from us. There are plenty points to be gained from the teams in the bottom 6 that would make up for us maybe not getting as many from the top 6 teams again, and it wont be just us going through a transition period.

This change of personel in defense is going to force us into changing formation and tactics, it may just be what we were needing to freshen things up, we weren't exactly racking up the points the last 4 months.

If Hearts play as they did until they took the lead in the cup final then they will do much better next season especially now that they have the best Scottish centre back in the country in their team.

Killie & Well & even St J may drop a bit but they were all significantly better than us over the whole season; if we had started the season as we ended it then we would probably have gone down, or at least had a fight on our hands to stay above Dundee.

In the cold light of day we had a great season up until the winter break but then the drop off in terms of results (our general play wasn’t too bad) was alarming & we did get some good results until the split.
Yes we probably relaxed after the split but that is a weakness we need to eliminate. As you have pointed out before, the prize money is substantially better the higher you finish & going into the split 7th was a realistic goal but we took what 1 point or maybe 2 from the available 15. That is quite simply not good enough. We also began to concede silly goals.

Another good signing, he was a cracking player for Ayr and I remember thinking I would've loved him to sign for us when he left them, but we had no chance of getting him back then.

Kevin Nisbet is available from Raith. Scored over 30 goals last season so knows where the net is. We've taken a chance on lower league players before. NB Lithgow and Pittman. Worth a shot?

Could indeed just had a look at him and he got 29 goals in 34 games, not a bad return at all.

Yep I suggested that a wee while back.

It would be worth taking a punt on him.

    He's signing for Dunfermline apparently.

Oh well. maybe we'll offer him a contract next season if he does well and scores a few goals for Dunfermline in the Championship (positive thinking that we'll still be in the Premiership). sunny

Really hope we find a decent goal scoring striker this season though, would be good to have someone that can score more than 7 or 8 goals in a season.

I take it you are not bothered if we try to get Hardie on loan again?

I still think he’d score decent numbers if fit & interested like he was in the second tier & before Christmas in the season just ended.

This'll be his last chance to get into their team, waste of his time going back out on loan, he either succeeds there or has to follow Halkett and Kelly's example of leaving them to further his career at another club where he can get regular games, then a move to a bigger club that'll give him a chance.

Either way I can't see us getting him back on loan and doubt he'll make a move anywhere the first half of the season.

I can’t see him getting much of a chance there unless he really impresses in training based on his performances for us after the window shut.

Thought for a second we'd splashed out and bought thee Pepe. Shocked

Hopefully a decent replacement for Halkett. Quite looking forward to the Betfred cup games starting to get a look at our new signings, and seeing how the team have gelled.

Rumour on P&B that Byrne is on his way to Dundee for a 5 figure sum.

One of the core players from our back to back promotions but I think we're in a better shape to deal with losing such a good player than we would've been if he had left last season. Bartley will prob slot into the holding midfield position alongside Pittman now.

Any other team and i'd have wished him all the best, fantastic attitude and commitment playing at Livi, good guy off the pitch too, just wish he'd have gone to a team down South to further his career, and not made a backward step for more dosh.

Yeah, P&B is always good for rumours many of which turn out to be just that.

I agree with your assessment though. I think he lacks pace to play at the top level but his skill & awareness compensated for that & his goal against Hibs was a peach.
