Yep, think we're agreed here, although I thought McKenna looked decent in spells. I'd have kept him.

Re: Transfer Rumours, Players In/Out
I disagree with many of the comments on here about Sekajja; he was one of the best at passing the ball actually placing it in the direction someone was running rather than behind them or hit and hope. He also seemed to have a good footballing brain for getting in the right position.
On the negative side I though he was too short for the championship; that wouldn't really matter if he had a lot of speed but he doesn't really.
To suggest he has cult status with the DBM because he has a "funny name" and the colour of his skin is completely bizarre
As mentioned he played 15 games but were any of those for in excess of 45 minutes; his goal average would appear to be in the region 1 goal every 337.5 minutes compared to White's 1 goal for every 270 minutes. Neither are particularly impressive although some of Sekajja's games such as the last one at Falkirk whereas he was being played as the lone striker for a team that were only booting the ball aimlessly up field should be taken into account.
White played in some easier games where we were knocking in 3 or 4 goals which increased his goal average however it also needs to be remembered that he never shirked coming back to support the midfield and defence - likewise no-one could accuse White of lacking effort and drive. I am slightly concerned that he hasn't taken another penalty since that miss so wonder about his confidence.
All in all I am please to see white ion the team for another year; for Sekajja it is probably right that he moves on; his positions are currently more than adequately covered by Mullen, who I hope is going to improve further this year, and others.
Clear space and budget for more defence and midfield (if the Jacobs bros don't return)

Re: Transfer Rumours, Players In/Out
Up until a couple of days ago Kyle jacobs front page on Twitter used to show the cup winning squad celebrating with the petrofacs cup - now it shows a scene of mountains and sea - possibly South Africa. He doesn't seem to mention being a professional footballer with Livingston FC either.
Read into that what you will.

Re: Transfer Rumours, Players In/Out
I don't think White's confidence has gone from taking penalties, he went over to Kyle and gestured he'd like to take it in our end of season game against QoS but Kyle was having none of it. Don't think my nerves could've taken it had White lined up for that penalty. Was pretty confident Kyle was scoring after seeing his converted penalty against Stranraer in our semi final shoot out. He blasted that one in too.

Kyle Jacobs best attribute is his versatility. If we had a solid player in every position, I would not be sad to see him go.

Re: Transfer Rumours, Players In/Out
I agree with you LF his confidence was never in doubt, also I would have been confident in the Bigman scoring because he has taken them in the penalty shoot outs and done well he also scored against Queens down at Palmerston and scored a great one v Raith to start the rout against them on our first visit there last season. The one he missed was a good save from the keeper so by my reckoning scoring 4 out of 5 pens is not too shabby. Happy for White to be the penalty taker this season.Liviforever wrote:I don't think White's confidence has gone from taking penalties, he went over to Kyle and gestured he'd like to take it in our end of season game against QoS but Kyle was having none of it. Aye me too, I can see the big fella having a good season, got a good feeling about big Shags. Reckon he'll be the surprise package.

Ah well good luck to him, the Jacobs name became synonymous with Livi for so many years, will be a strange feeling not having them play for us this season.
Someone said somewhere on a Livi forum/thread, maybe a fresh start is needed for both them and Livi, time to build a new team and hopefully build for the future with a fresh group of players. That's Talbot, Dycey, O'Brien, Ky & Ke Jacobs all gone, we've a relatively new group of players here from last season including a few not long in from the youth team.
Rankine away too and a new board, here's hoping things start looking up this season and next. I better stop now and wait for Bertie to bring me back to my senses, getting a bit carried away here as I feel a tingling sensation of optimism filling my loins.
Mon the Livi Loins.

Re: Transfer Rumours, Players In/Out
Was rather hoping he'd be team captain - gawd knows who we have now. Never a fan of captain's being forwards or goalkeeper which rules out both White and Jamieson - although as white spends a lot of his time in midfield and defence maybe that's a possibility.
If he was assured of a start I'd suggest Gary Glen; alternatively maybe Cole?

So the nearest to a first 11 we've got just now would be something like this: Jaimeson....... Moffat ?, Cole, Sives, Longridge.......Mullen, Glen, Pitttman, Hippo..........Buchanan, White.

Yeah I'm a born optimist, usually takes at least to January before Livi takes it away from me.Bertie Bassett wrote:By jings LF...it doesn't take much to get your loins going does it!
Good point, wonder who our captain will be. Buchanan is the oldest and most experienced unless Burchill wants to be player/manager/captainDurnford wrote:Was rather hoping he'd be team captain - gawd knows who we have now. Re: Transfer Rumours, Players In/Out
Not certain Kyle will sign for Queens, looks like it was just a rumour started from P&B. Poster says he'd like to see them sign him; next day a journalist tweets that he's training with them.
I'm probably wrong but this kind of thing happens every year, just look at all the rumours flying about of Gary Glen signing for Raith, only for him to sign for us.

Know what you're saying but I think Orco made the announcement and she's usually pretty reliable - not often party to rumour and supposition.

Just came back to edit my post since I've just read the interview with the Queens manager, looks like it will be happening.

I agree there are not a lot of keepers or Centre Forwards that have been captains of their clubs. Alan Shearer being an exception however in saying that big White does have leadership qualities as shown on that day at Cowdenbeath when he scored a cracking header went straight into the net picked up the ball ran back full pelt to the halfway line taking the time to quickly congratulate Hippo on the fantastic ball in. After the second goal he engaged with the fans very well.
Also saw him being interviewed on TV a couple of times and he is very articulate so he could very well be a good shout. Also he only missed one game last season which is good for a captain.
He is not afraid to talk to the ref either and puts his point across to the ref sometimes too much but if he was captain would be allowed more leeway from refs to talk to them on behalf of the team.
